You're at a bar. They're at a bar. Nope, this isn't a set-up for a convoluted joke. No punchline to be had. Quite the opposite, actually: you've got your best line in store. Whether you want to drink with this other person and party all night, take them home tonight, or just have another warm body on the stool beside you that will vaguely tolerate your presence, you're going to hit on your target with all you've got.

Hope you saved that absolute jewel of a hook for the right moment! Surely all you silver tongues out there have a million of them, though.

If she hadn't been watching closely Lydia would have looked like someone whose only interest was in fashion, but she'd mentioned the name of a hunter who recommended the bar to her and her eyes looked in shadows. And when she looked Jo up and down her eyes were frisking Jo for weapons as well as appreciating, and her response was playful. "You must be good at boxing because you look like a knockout."
