Thrill of the chaste.
![]() Love must have a certain passion behind it, to be sure, but not all passions are the same. The two of you love each other, and certainly romantically - or at least you're working on realizing that - and you're...not sexually intimate, or not in the way many would suspect. You're not ready for that yet, you're following the rules of your society, you want them to know how serious you are, you're too busy or uninterested, you don't want to "dishonor" them in any way, or that's simply how both of you are comfortable: there are a number of reasons why you'd choose a romance of chastity, and none of them make the feelings between you any less valid. Of course, no sexual intimacy doesn't mean no intimacy at all. Holding hands, resting of heads on shoulders, touching, kissing on other places than the mouth, spending time together, confessions, or giving gifts can show your emotions towards each other just as easily. You may only want to do these things away from the prying eyes of others, however. And, understandably, you might want to take those milestones slowly and carefully, the same way your relationship has blossomed. ...especially for confessions. For the type of love you two share, you don't want to admit to anything too idly. How to Play

plus Faust bears a striking resemblance to his ex. That being said, Faust is exactly the sort of person Shinji would fall for.Basically, I’m starved for fluffy hurt-comfort. Any interest?]

[Faust also has not recovered from his
exbest friend betraying him 400ish years ago, so I imagine it could be pretty slow burn since the wariness would go both ways. Any ideas for a setting? Faust's canon is technically an isekai so he wouldn't be totally unfamiliar with the idea of other worlds existing.]no subject
I’m alright with using Faust’s canon, maybe with a sort of stranded in another universe thing for Shinji? I’m good with anything tbh]

Claude was beside himself. Not in front of the others of course, but to himself he was unhappy. His sash had ripped in the last battle. It had saved his life, sure, but it was torn almost in two pieces. This was something he brought from home and there was no fixing it until he returned to Almyra... which he might not depending on how this war went.
He sat in the dumps in the gardens at a table by himself looking at the tattered mess that used to be his belt. What a disaster.

Except for the part where she almost walks right past Claude on her way to her room.
Bernadetta stops mid-step, backtracking (by literally walking backwards) until she stands next to Claude's table, looking down at the wrecked fabric. She recognizes the yellows and greens immediately, though she can't remember when the sash had shredded during the fight – but, then again, she tends to run completely on autopilot in the midst of all the violent chaos, and since sashes aren't critical to her own survival, she hadn't noticed.
"Oh no, what happened?" Though before she gives Claude a chance to reply, babbling follows right along after the question. "I mean! Hi, um, good evening, I hope I'm not disturbing you!"
no subject
Claude didn't much notice Bernadetta either, he was rather caught up in his plight. He didn't notice her walk past or backpedal to him, or anything until she was talking.
His head snapped up, frown on his face. "Oh, just a swipe with a blade nearly got me. This thing saved my life but... it's a relic from home and I can't fix it anytime soon. It just tied the whole look together, yeah?"
He sighed. "Oh, good evening to you too. You're not bothering me. I could use someone taking pity on me right now."
no subject
"May I, um, may I take a look? I don't have to touch it, if you don't want me to, but I can... sew." She could make entire tapestries, so she's definitely underselling herself – as per usual.
no subject
"Sure, nothing you can do to ruin it any more than it already is." he slid the ragged sash across the table. He expected she couldn't do much to it. Even sewing it would be delicate work and his mother had made that for him when he was little, as a good luck charm when he inevitably went to war. As any proud Almyran prince does.
He has no idea of her prowess of course. "I was hoping it wouldn't give out on me before the war was won but here we are."

She lifted the fabric, gently running her thumb along the ripped edges. "Oh, this is beautiful, wow," she murmured, more to herself than Claude.
"This embroidery is so intricate. I think I could darn the tear, but I would need to check my collection of silk floss to see if I had the same colors to match..." She continued to mumble, tenderly feeling the frayed threads with the sort of delicate attention one might hold a frail animal.
no subject
He watched closely as she lifted the fabric from home and she was so gentle with it, it struck him. She had a good eye too. Most people who'd seen it didn't think much of it since it was foreign. It seemed like strange fabric to them, nothing to be saved.
"It's alright, it's old and nothing lasts forever-- wait what?" his eyes widened. "You can? Can I see?"
no subject
And besides: she needed clarification on something much more prescient.
... Like what he actually wanted to see.
She held the fabric closer to her face, peeking out over it at him. "See... my other work? Um, of course, I can show you some of what I've done, i-if you're worried I might be terrible at this. I mean, I'd be worried that someone would ruin something important to me, if I didn't know they had the skills already. O-or, wait, did you mean you want to watch me fix it? Or, um?"
no subject
He got up from his seat, standing next to her. "Where are your tools? I'll just follow you."
