There was almost never an opportunity for down time. There was always work to be doing, people to be helping, and time for Steve to just spend with Faith in quiet just didn't happen very often. When it did, he made sure to take advantage of it.

Stretched out on the couch in front of the TV, some movie he'd never seen on, his arm draped behind her and fingers grazing lazily against her arm, Steve basked in the comfort of her company. He definitely wasn't paying any attention to the movie, nor was he particular absorbed in anything else. It was only in moments like this, the quiet times with his girl when nothing really was happening that Steve could ever really turn off and actually relax. There was a safety in her and of all people Faith was one of very few that he never had to worry about.

That was uncommon in his life. But she was different, special, and he'd been lucky that they'd somehow crossed paths. He'd said to a friend once that he was looking for shared life experience and an exact match really wasn't possible but if anyone came close it was someone like her.
