"I know."

What if you were not alone in your thoughts? What if you were never alone? Surely it would change the way you think or behave, if you could simply reach out with your mind and truly know another person's true feelings. They say that so many of life's problems could be solved if we could simply understand one another without any lies or pretense to get in the way. What do you think?
No matter the cause - whether this is normal in your world, or through some magical or spiritual mishap - suddenly, you're about to find out what it's like to share a psychic connection.
No matter the cause - whether this is normal in your world, or through some magical or spiritual mishap - suddenly, you're about to find out what it's like to share a psychic connection.
1. Soulmate
You'll know right away who your soulmate is, because you'll feel their mind touch yours. Together forever, in the most intimate of ways... that's good, right?
2. Touch
Your mental connection is only active when you touch.
3. One-sided
You can hear their thoughts, and maybe even send them messages, but they can't hear yours. Doesn't seem fair, does it?
4. Haunted
Are you going crazy, or are you being haunted by a ghost that's taken up residence in your mind?
5. The Other? Half
You can hear every thought... but only if they're ( male/female/an elf or something/someone you're attracted to) !
6. Dreamwalking
You may be miles or even entire timelines apart, but you can always meet them in their dream.
7. Sensation
It isn't someone's thoughts that you experience, per se, but you can feel their emotions and physical sensations as if they are your own.
8. Wildcard
Anything goes!

Midori
Re: Midori
oh no worries! I went ahead and set us up then <3
But there is something to be said for the necessity of keeping him in line. He might get ideas of helping the participants if left unchecked, and that's certainly something they can't have. So why not kill two birds with one stone? Observe him effectively for both the interests of scientific curiosity and security at the same time?
Midori has always been a clever sort, particularly where manipulation is concerned. He has, therefore, made some adjustments to Rio while he was being repaired. Specifically, a one-way wireless connection to filter and broadcast Rio's thoughts to him. Frankly, he's excited, and when all of Rio's repairs are completed, he goes to see him right away. Normally, he isn't exactly fond of being around the Dress-Up Doll, but in this case, he'll make an exception.
"Good morning, haha. You're looking as good as new. Are you feeling as good as new, too?"

He's still trying to process it all when he hears that voice. That obnoxious voice. If Midori doesn't care for Rio, then the sentiment is shared - not that he really liked anyone aside from Gashu and Safalin, but Midori was a particular annoyance - perhaps because he disliked him, Ranger had always repaid that favor by ensuring that dislike would be well-justified.
He wills the tears not to fall, but they do despite his best efforts. It's too much. He clenches his fist and bites his lip. It's too painful. He would have rather stayed dead. Not just the memories, not just the painful emotions. It's the betrayal. It's the jumbled mess of thoughts that can't complete themselves. It's the fact that his father had--that Safalin had--that neither of them--that the one who had fixed him was--
"You... You sick bastard! Who the Hell said you could fix me!?"
He can't quite manage to get up, not yet - not while his chest is heaving with all too human sobs, and he won't give this bastard the dignity of seeing him collapse to the floor like a miserable wretch. He leans over instead, splaying out his fingers and supporting himself with one hand as he slams his fist down on the operating table over with each curse, like the punctuation:
"Damnit! Damnit! Damnit...!! How dare you! Don't fucking touch me! I wouldn't have wanted to be brought back like this! Damnit... Damnit... I'll kill you... You bastard!!! I'll kill you!!!"
Perhaps that would have been a serious threat before, but now it's no more than a doll throwing a child's temper tantrum.

Tonight she finds herself in the elegant parlor of a lavish, old fashioned western mansion. The floor is a black-and-white chessboard pattern, and the two of them sit in high backed chairs on either side of a handsome wooden table. At the table is a teapot, teacups full of fragrant black tea, with containers for milk and sugar, and a tray of tea cookies on the side.
The high windows all around look out into an apparent void, with fragments of crystal drifting past, images of other worlds reflected in their facets. Doors seem to open up into other parts of the manor, or wherever this is.
Sitting across from Ritsuka is a blonde woman in an elegant black and gold dress, puffing on a kiseru pipe. Oddly enough, when she exhales a cloud of smoke, the aroma is sweet and floral without a hint of tobacco. She smiles, refined and elegant. ]
Welcome to my domain, human who calls yourself a Mage. I am Beatrice, the Golden Witch. Please, have some tea.

[Ritsuka is already drinking the tea-]
Ah, hot, hot, hot!
[Or trying to, at least. She sticks out her tongue, letting it cool for a few moments.
Normally, Ritsuka only shows up in the dreams of her Servants, but there were a few notable exceptions. That one time she tripped backasswards into a part of the Root with Void, for instance. And the entirety of her jaunt to Shimousa. And that whole thing at the Kogetsukan, and-
Hm. Okay. Maybe going into dreams far away from Chaldea wasn't that uncommon.]

[ She was content to go on in cryptic smugness, as is the right of any mysterious being that summons protagonists in dreams to the fantastical abodes, but Ritsuka just has to interrupt a particularly choice bit of unhelpful gloating advice with burning her tongue.
Rude. ]
You're supposed to sip it, girl. Or do they not give you any hot beverages at the barnyard trough you drink from?
[ It wasn't like she needed this mage here, but she could at least take this a bit more seriously! She came highly recommended in the world of witches! She won a poll in Sorcerer's Quarterly for "Best Earnest Kindhearted Protagonist," and had runner up in the "Visitor to Another World" category! ]

[Ritsuka pauses, considering for a moment.]
...although she does lower the temperature to make sure Bunyan, Jack, and Lily don't burn their tongues.
[To be honest, when Beato started speaking in riddles Ritsuka already knew that this, whatever it was, was going to be a huge pain. Meeting a complete stranger in her dreams has never turned out well, especially when they start spouting cryptic nonsense... but Ritsuka has built up a resistance to this specific kind of cryptic nonsense. She just lets it slide off her like water off a duck's back.
And if she's here, it's probably because someone needed her help. So she'll hear Beato out.]

Kuhyahahaha! Not bad, not bad! You've only been here for a minute and you're already talking about a number of incomprehensible characters!
[ She takes a cookie and nibbles on it, errant crumbs turning to specks of gold and fading away. No need to >clean anymore. ]
I'll come to my point. You have experience with the sort of tales I have been spinning. Don't try to deny it! Everything about you tells me that every day there's some new incident with a bunch of demons or witches or ancient heroes swinging swords like "clang, clang" and shooting spells like "bang, kaboom!" I bet there's a bunch of girls in ridiculous outfits too, all thigh-highs and cleavage riiight? And a bunch of broody men with silky, silky hair who say things like, "So be it, this is my cursed fate?" Just by the existence of such a cliche-looking protagonist, it was possible for Beatrice to come to this conclusion! What do you think everyone?
[ Goat-faced figures in butler uniforms materialize from whirlwinds of gold dust, clap their white-gloved hands for several seconds, and then disappear. ]
Kuhahaha! Well? I'm right, aren't I?
