the survival meme
Acts of nature, vicious monsters, merciless enemies, and treacherous worlds. These are circumstances which put your skills and your wit to the ultimate test: the struggle to survive. Maybe you're fit enough to make it on your own, or maybe you're in over your head. Either way, can you afford to help a friend or stranger in need? That's a decision you'll have to make in the moment.
1. wilderness
Whether you're stranded, adventuring, or simply camping, the wild has been known to turn on those who would appreciate her splendor in an instant. Wild animals, inclement weather, hazardous territory, and food that fights back are just some of the things you'll need to contend with to survive.
2. natural disaster
Earthquakes, floods, avalanches, and more. These forces of nature are hard to predict, and even harder to control. You may need more than just your own wit and ingenuity to make it through this.
3. post-apoc
The world has met with some disaster - be it war, a climate event, an invasion - and for most, all the comforts of modern life are a thing of the distant past. How have the stragglers survived so far?
4. alien planet
You've landed on a strange and unknown world, and you have no idea what dangers could lurk ahead. The very air could be poison, and on some worlds, even the plants have teeth!
5. zombies
Whatever you do, don't get bitten. No one can afford to spare your life when the virus takes hold.
6. robot uprising
Humanity has been pushed to the very brink of existence on their own world, as AIs rise up to take their place as the rightful stewards of the planet. Do you even stand a chance against intelligence and physical ability far superior to a mere fleshy being?
7. monsters
Take care and stay on your guard, for this territory is crawling with foul beasts who will come for you at any sign of... fear, sound, movement, blood... or what have you!
8. battle royale
In this nightmare, your enemies are the very people who are trapped here with you. Do you team up to survive, or do you take no prisoners?
9. enemy territory
This is your most dangerous mission yet: you're heading right into the enemy's lair.
10. wildcard
Anything goes!

When Clara jumped into The Doctor's time stream, it was supposed to be only him, his life and his adventures that she shared, and she was fine with that. Made the decision much easier, actually - a version of herself would always be with him, forever, somehow.
Except that when she lands on her hands and knees, the ground beneath her is a...beach, and when she looks out, there's an ocean under a purple sky. Slowly standing, she brushes off her hands, looking around and pretending not to be terrified.
"Doctor?"
She's certainly not on Earth. An afterlife? She never believed in all of that specifically but there's room to be wrong about anything. All that Clara can think to do is begin walking and hope for some sort of life.

There are some planets that even the Time Lords know nothing of, have no names for, and probably wouldn't care to. Backwater places that make Earth look like the height of civilization, with no resources worth speaking of. How lucky of the Master to have been unceremoniously dumped on one such world, following his little adventure and subsequent falling out with the Cyberium! How truly, truly lucky.
He trudges along, kicking out spitefully at loose rocks, shells, driftwood, anything that happens to get in his way. So far he's seen no signs of intelligent life, nothing that looks remotely helpful in getting him off this planet. Which was the point of stranding him here, really.
But then, he hasn't been looking for very long. Severing the link with the Cyberium left him weakened and he spent much of his first few days here barely conscious. Even now he tires far too easily. At this rate it'll take him decades to find, or more likely construct, a way out of here.
Suddenly-- hark! The nearby voice of a girl! The Master is honestly so surprised to hear anyone else on this planet that it takes a moment for what she said to sink in. It stops him cold. Doctor. The most hateful word in the universe.
Still, beggars can't be choosers. Or, they can, he supposes, if they wish to be dead beggars. If the Doctor is here, against all odds as usual, it stands to reason the TARDIS is as well.
In other words, his ticket out of this horrible place could be just over this next dune. He quickens his pace, ignoring his exhaustion in his eagerness, until he crests the small hill of sand. Then he peers out along the tideline ahead, shading his eyes.

"Hello? Are you from here?" she calls out. Who knows if they'll even understand her, but she's hoping.

The idea of him being from a place like this makes him laugh shortly. From a distance it may not be apparent to Clara, but that laugh is a rough 1:1:1 ratio of frustration, genuine amusement, and pure insanity.
"Afraid not," the Master shouts back. "It appears we're both tourists." Unwitting in his case, but the jury is still out on the girl. He skids down the dune to get a bit closer.
"Did I hear you say you had a Doctor? Only, I could really use one at the moment." And now that he's close enough, she can probably tell he's not necessarily lying. He's bedraggled and pale, bright as his eyes are and as quickly as they dart around, looking for signs of anyone else nearby. It looks almost as if he's recovering from a long illness, his body not quite caught up with his mind yet.

Eskel || The Witcher (any) || OTA
7- Monsters || Kind of his area of expertise: a sudden uptick in monsters (usually caused by war/disaster or a near-collision of the Spheres, or some other magical accident, in other settings) means that the witchers are once again necessary, but humanity might find them rare, spread too thin, expensive and difficult to negotiate with. That's what they get for hunting them to extinction.
9- Enemy Territory || In one of her prophetic visions, Ciri sees Eskel burned at the stake along with many of the few surviving witchers, leading me to believe that there will be a time that Eskel is on the run from the very people he's spent his whole life trying to save. A hardscrabble existence in the woods and on the fringes of cities. Who would dare aid and abet, harbor, or accompany such a beast. Alternatively, sticking with a group of similarly endangered non-humans.
1- Basic/freespace. Witchers are semi-nomadic, and their work takes them to the harshest parts of the world, or leaves them exiled on the edges of human settlements. Alternatively, your character could be lost/trying to survive in the woods of the Blue Mountains, where they say even the things shaped like men are ravening monsters. Don't worry, this lone wolf doesn't bite.
Weird bonus: wee little Eskel, abandoned in the woods in the foothills of the blue mountains; this would probably only be relevant to a Vesemir or someone au-ing their character into a witcher looking to travel with a surprise kid in the wilderness.}}

the one where time is a shit concept.
He never gets used to the sensation of finding there’s been past selves, each iteration making choices that are similar yet different. There’s fear in an unknown he can’t grasp fully. Charles’ desire to make it work is strong, the ambition held by a self-sustaining rope. It does not mean it won’t break on occasion when he makes the wrong move. He does not pay mind to those other versions. There's no point in dwelling, only learning and growing from the choices made.
All he knows is his current reality where he’s made contact with Krakoa, the island, in preparation to become a plethora of heaven for mutants. He’s modified some decisions and it led to him forming the X-Men earlier than intended. He wanted to avoid some of the hurt, even if he was still left alone after differences. That’s something he can’t quite help. His dear, and oldest friend, always leaves, ideals too stubborn yet akin to the same cause. The separation is almost necessary. He knows he’ll go to Erik and ask him to join him once he's figured out how to proceed. If there is something that is always constant in each timeline, it's that they are always reunited somehow.
It is one of these days, ambition at his fingertips while he’s staring out the window that he wonders, is this the one that will not reset? In the last decade he’s been able to hone his skills, enough that he keeps getting closer to understanding what makes a mutant and how to prevent loss. His goals have shifted and he seeks to understand what he can get out of Krakoa, if it can give the possibility of a sort of reincarnation. It’s not simple, but he’s managed to formulate the possibility. He just needs to find the mutants who will be absolutely necessary for it to happen. It’s particularly when he’s testing the mechanics of his prototype mind database that he hears a loud noise as if something is ripping apart.
When he looks outside, he can see a rift in the sky as if it’s oozing in the style of a Dali painting. It continues to open and he can feel the presence of something incoming. He winces at the static noise blocking any possible thoughts from being reached. Charles rushes to the backyard, knowing it's foolish, but he also can sense that there's someone beyond it. He has never been able to ignore the possibility of peril. }
sorry for the wait, I went with a post season 1 au for him.
Despite how hard he tried to hold on to Allison and Diego's hands, he could feel their fingers slipping. Once the grip was lost all he could do was hope they would land somewhere safe where he could find them. Otherwise there was the chance that his siblings would be lost somewhere in the void between timelines.
When the portal finally opens, he quickly finds himself falling through void into what looks like an actual place. Though barely has time to react before he musters enough energy to port himself to the ground rather than letting himself drop like a rock. However he lands on his back, still knocking the wind out of himself as he gazes up at the sky and the portal he created quickly closing up. Everything hurts and his vision is blurry. He has absolutely no idea where he is and what time he has landed in, but he has to muster the strength to find his family again. But he's just so tired.]
