Well, you've really done it now. You're in a mental institution. Maybe it's a modern facility with a therapy garden, compassionate staff members, and a warm environment meant to help nurse people back to health, or maybe it's a glorified dungeon where the government shoves people they don't want to deal with and patients are abused by staff. Regardless of what it is, you're there, and it doesn't look like they're planning on letting you out any time soon.

Maybe you're actually not supposed to be there and you're trying to arrange for your release. Maybe you actually are meant to be there and you're struggling with your illness. Maybe you're not a patient at all and you're just there to visit or earn your paycheck. It's up to you.

If there was one thing Rocket knew, it was that there was always a way out of a place like this, and maybe you needed a multi-part plan like some kind of bank heist, and maybe you just needed light fingers and a trusting candystriper.

She knew there had been other times, after the fire, after the stabbing -those had both been justified as far as she was concerned- and she honestly had no idea that she was actually haunting the building that had once been Lennox House and then a series of other hospitals, asylums and recovery centers, up to the current one.

[Gotham had been one bat short for several nights now. The GCPD, Nightwing, and certain other vigilantes had been doing their best to hide that fact from the public. That couldn't fool the ones who knew Batman the best though.

Sure, it was possible Batman was away on a Justice League mission. But Jason had also overheard intel from some Arkham staff moonlighting as drug runners. A new patient had been admitted recently. Great care had been taken to prevent a leak to the tabloids. The description of the patient sounded very familiar.

It might've been just idle gossip but the information was too good for Jason not to investigate. So he went to Arkham Asylum. For once though, it was during the day and during visiting hours. Jason gave the staff a fake ID and the false name of the patient he wanted to see.

Now here he was, in the visiting room and looking at Bruce from across the table with a smug expression]

Wow. It's finally happened.

[It was supposed to be a simple intel-gathering mission. A new trafficking ring decided to be cute by trying to move in on the Red Hood's territory. All without his permission. How rude. After spending a couple of weeks investigating, Jason learned that some of Arkham's staff were part of this ring and were using their connections to the asylum to help smuggle drugs, guns, and people in and out of Gotham.

Naturally, Jason needed to take a closer look. Tonight he snuck in as a new security guard. The uniform wasn't the same as his Red Hood suit but at least he was still armed and had some body armor. The disguise also gave him plenty of access to staff and patients. He had been walking down a hallway and ostensibly checking if all patients were in their cells when he noticed one particularly familiar patient. He then stopped in front of the man's cell with a smug expression]

You know, I would've put money on me or the big guy being the first one in our family to wind up here.

The GusuLan Asylum had been owned by the Lan for centuries. Qiren had taken care of it up until he retired, then Xichen had taken care of it up until his husband's fatal death, and then it was left to Lan Wangji. Not that the younger of the Lans wanted anything to do with it. Not when it was a tedius thing to take care of. Some of the patients weren't so bad, though.

It's one of the nights that he's working from home, and meditating, that the shrill ring of the phone interrupts the silence of his house. The house, itself, was a nice little estate that himself and his son lived in. A son that was out with friends. Between his son and his older brother they were the ones to convince him to get the phone. As well as a cellphone. 'A way for me to contact you, a-die, if I need to. Or if you're called into work.'

After listening to the call itself, he frowns slightly. The patient had been calling him by name. Not something that was overly odd, but odd enough. So, he sends a text to his son stating he was heading into work and would hopefully be home before he came back.

The nurses didn't trust a patient alone with one of the founders, even if he could take care of himself, and led them to a room where Lan Zhan waited for them to bring the patient to him, so he could find out exactly what was going on.

Lan Sizhui still looked, at most, 25 when his father died.
He wasn't, of course, he was already much older than that, and it had been heartbreaking the first moment he realised that, while he and Hanguang Jun had successfully cultivated immortality, Wei Wuxian was slowly getting older and his parents were going to lose one another again.

Lan Sizhui still looked 25 a few years later, too, when the realisation comes that, this time, he wasn't enough to get his father through the loss of his soulmate, that Wei Wuxian's death had broken Lan Zhan in ways Sizhui couldn't even contemplate.

Luckily there had been a place for him to live out his seclusion, a place where people could care for him while he tried to put himself back together

Lan Yuan had been claiming 18 the first time they moved his father to a different facility, a place where the staff weren't starting to get suspicious about their patient not appearing to age.

He'd been Wen Yuan, and 20, the next time it was required.

The years he'd spent as Wei Sizhui, he hadn't visited as much, not wanting to admit to his father he was using the name, but it made him feel closer to the man he missed so much, and it had seemed a fitting tribute for the start of his search - the year he'd taken that name had been the year he'd met Wen Qing, working as a doctor at the very facility his father was living in at the time. That's when he'd realised for certain that the people they cared about could, would come back, when he'd realised there was still hope.

He went back to Lan Yuan next, and moved his father again.

He spent some time as Jiang Sizhui, and that helped him find Jiang Yanli and realise that she had something that the second Dr Wen had not - she had a golden core. Not only could their loved ones come back, they could - with the right training - stay.

It's been 250 years and he still hasn't given up searching, he knows that somewhere, somewhen, he's going to find Wei Wuxian again. He's going to give them the happy ending they deserve.

And throughout it all, he visits his father.

He's 25 again, according to his ID, and his name once more is Lan Sizhui, and he finishes speaking quietly to the doctor about the latest with his father's condition before heading into the small, comfortable meeting room to see him.

[ The patient. Claiming you're a sentient video game character who has escaped from a visual novel tends to land you in an insane asylum. Except it's the actual truth in her case. Monika's not stupid, so she's gonna pull the "yeah I was delusional but I'm better now" card. Still, she cracks pretty easily under pressure and won't be able to keep denying she's from a video game.

Open to darker scenarios for this one. Would love things where someone (a random visitor, doctor, worker, the one who set her free in the real world, etc) manipulates her. Promising to set her free from the asylum so long as she takes her medication, telling her they believe her story but she's not allowed to tell anyone, preying on her desperate need to be loved, etc. Also happy with people who genuinely want to "help" her. ]

[Dr. Quinnzel's office is a very professional looking environment at first glance, with lots of books and warm colors. Wooden furniture and red leather covered seats. But if you look close enough at her certification you'll see it's been altered slightly. Like it's been taped together from being shredded or scanned and reprinted.

The doctor herself sits patiently in a tall backed chair with her hair up in a no-nonsense bun looking over the brim of her glasses at her latest problem case.]

[ gou spoilers imminent for some of the set ups that i'd like to do with her. in both cases, she is a patient. highlight to read.

A) instead of a "jail cell", satoko gets placed into a mental institution of sorts created by her school--st. lucia--where they place all the bad, naughty children who don't live up to their so-called expectations: it's where the girls are all forced to study and 'act perfect'; anything that is considered out of line is when the staff start to dole out punishment.

B) early looper satoko, where she tries to convince people that someone (eua) sent her back in time to 'fix' things but is then put in this place. i like the idea of someone coming in here, believing her tale, and her showing off her power as a looper.

in terms of scenarios, i'm mostly here for some darker, potentially messed up set-ups. for the first one, i'm looking for either potential staff members, fellow classmates, or even someone unrelated looking to rescue her. for the second, i'm mostly looking for a "hero"--but not in the good person sense, but rather, someone encouraging her to act out more. ]

[ A 13 year old kid thinking he is 58? Suffering PTSD from the apocalypse? Basically his powers are being affected by the medication, but that doesn't stop him from trying to escape. Perhaps his memory is being affected by the medicine and he can't tell what about his life is real and what is just a figment of his imagination.

So interactions could be other patients or they could be a staff member assigned to be his therapists or what not. I'll roll with any ideas offered up.]

So anyone could be a fellow patient also being power suppressed or they could just be curious if really does have powers or not. Otherwise they could be staff that sees her being mistreated or a staff person who mistreats her. I'm game for anything! ]
