The Fluffy Smut Meme

[Where Spock is going for his next mission is no place for a mere cadet. As profound as her powers might be, she doesn't have enough qualifying experience. Unless the captain overrides protocol, it's unlikely she'll be selected for the team. Besides, given her attachment to Spock, she would hate to have her emotions interfere with the mission.]

[She rests her hands on his chest, eyes closed as she brushes her nose lightly against his chin. Her lips don't move in favor of opening her mind to him...her thoughts, her insecurities, her concerns.]

Isn't there any way I could come with you...? If I could be close by...just in case I was needed...

[Spock looks at Orihime fondly....]

I cannot Ashaya.... you know the regulations. This is a dangerous mission... First Contact.

I...we cannot risk it. You are not ready yet.

I know.

[Her response is tinged with regret. She's studied so hard, but she's starting to wonder just how much more she COULD study before lessons cut in on the infrequent moments they have to share each other's company alone. Very little is worth losing that.]

I know. But if I could be on standby, just in case...just in case you needed my shield, or my healing...I'd feel a lot better.

Perhaps one day Ashaya... You have not been here all that long.

[Spock gave her another squeeze.]

I have to go...

Immediately?

[Her disappointment is almost tangible, especially through the link. Selfish it might be, but she can't help clinging to him a little tigheter. Why does it have to be so soon?]

Can't we say goodbye in a better way...?

[One that would take at least an hour.]

[Spock huffs an almost laugh and brushes his hands over her back.]

My apologies Ashaya, I must go.

[Spock untangled himself from Orihime and gave her a fond look.] I will be back soon. [He gave her one last kiss, turned, and left.

The Vulcan wasn't lying when he said that he would be back soon... it just wasn't in the condition that he had hoped. Well, not that he was currently aware of it.
Orihime received a COMM from Doctor McCoy.]

Ori! Ori! Dammit girl, are you there?!

[Orihime jerks out of bed. One might think she'd been sleeping, and in truth she had tried, but it was too quiet, and too lonely without Spock. She'd grown addicted to his presence, she realized, and found it next to impossible to sleep without him. Her hand scrambles for the comm pin on the nightstand, depressing it as she wrestles on a robe.]

I'm here! Medbay?

[She can only imagine she's wanted there, since there's no other reason for the doctor to call her with such urgency.]

As soon as you can get here.

I'm sorry darlin', it's Spock.

[Orihime's relative calm sense of haste is shattered, and she feels something icy drop into her gut.]

...what...?

[Impossible...idiotic! How could he be hurt? He's smart, strong, quick, and one of the least offensive people on the ship. Why is he hurt? She's already running at full speed for the lift, but this news nearly causes her to stumble.]

[Sickbay is bustling with nurses and staff... there are a few crew members taking up biobeds, but none of them look to be too worse for wear.

McCoy is there to usher her in.]

Your damn green blooded elf has really done it this time! [Bones was growling as if he was angry at Spock... and he was. He was angry that Spock was hurt, which is Bones' way of caring.] The fool was protecting our intrepid Captain.... One of the Natives decided he didn't like hearing Jim speak anymore, so he threw a fucking spear at him. A Spear!
Spock decided to throw his damn fool self in front of it.... then he went over a cliff.

[McCoy brought Orihime around a curtain, where there was a mess of a Vulcan on a biobed. There were regenorators strapped all over his body.] He will heal... but his head... Ori, he hit his head pretty hard. I've done all I can.
[Bones sounded so weary at that point.... and sorry.]

[Her heart aches to look at him. Of course...that would be the only reason why he'd be hurt, wouldn't it? To protect his friend. She swallows past the lump in her throat, and looks up at McCoy. She can fix this, she's sure, but she still hates that he was hurt. It makes her heart sick.]

You did a good job, McCoy-sensei.

[She smiles as best she can, touching his shoulder, before moving to Spock's side. Her fingers rise to rest on her hairpins.]

I'll take care of the rest.

[Bones stares after her.... then nods.

Recognizing the need for privacy, the Doctor pulls the curtain around them before leaving them alone.]

[She doesn't close her eyes. She doesn't need to concentrate. It's been a long while since she's had to use her powers, but the potential is still there just as it's always been. It's unlikely that anyone else could even see what she's doing, unless anyone is spiritually sensitive. Two petals fall away from each hairpin, taking the shape of two tiny fairy-like beings who move to take up vigil at the top of Spock's head and below his feet. Between them, a gold shield of spiritual light is formed, and beneath its influence time is reversed. She rejects the event with all her heart, insisting that it should not have happened because she wills it to be so. While she can't erase the event itself, she can erase the physical effects and harm.]

[Green blood drifts into the air, disintegrating, as broken bones begin to knit and torn flesh and sinew begin to mend. He'll be as healthy and whole as he was when they parted. She'll make sure of it!]

[Spock shifts, then gasps as his eyes blink open.

When he speaks, he is incredulous and shocked.]

Ori....Orihime?

Thank goodness...!

[She waits until the last bit of damage is erased before she drops the shield and rests her hand on top of his.]

How are you feeling?

I...

You... you healed me? [Spock was a bit confused... Orihime has never done that for him before. It was an interesting sensation.]

I... was unable to think... there was.. I thought my mind lost.

You... [Spock looked up at her with reverence.] Thank-you...

[She wasn't sure it would work. The limits of her powers have yet to be tested, and it was a gamble as to whether it would work or not on Vulcans, or mental damage. Thank goodness these fall under her boundaries!]

No no, you don't have to thank me! I'm just...I'm relieved. McCoy-sensei was so grim, I really thought...I thought maybe I was too late to do anything.

[Her hand tightens slightly.]

I'm really glad you're okay, A-Ashaya.

[Spock was still disinclined to move too much... however, he lifted his arms, grabbed Orihime, and moved her so that she was draped across him.

He nuzzled into her hair...

...one solitary tear rolling down his cheek.]

[Awkward as the position might be, she doesn't care. She clings to him as best she can, trying not to think of what might have happened if she didn't have her powers. The thought of losing him is too painful to entertain, so she avoids it.]

[...Dampness...?]

[She didn't think a Vulcan would ever shed tears, but considering how much they value their minds, logic, and intelligence, it must have been terrifying for him. She tucks her head under his chin, letting him cry as much as he needs to.]

It's okay now. It'll all be okay.

[Spock's mind was chaotic.... panicked.]

The thought...the last thought that I had was of you...

I fell. And I thought that I couldn't bear to leave you alone.

[Spock was quite pleased that that didn't happen, but his emotions were so out of wack right now that all he could do was hold Orihime as he frame shock with silent sobs.]

[Orihime's throat tightens, and she swallows past a lump. Her own eyes are starting to burn. His last thought was of her. Living alone, without him... Nooooo she had just determined not to think about that! She knows very well that she could never love another if she lost Spock. No one else could come close to matching the bond they share with one another.]

[She buries her face into his chest with a shaken breath, resting her hand on his shoulder and caressing absently. She doesn't know how to soothe him, or if she even should. These kinds of feelings aren't good when they're repressed.]

Even if you died, I can see ghosts, ne...? I'm sure we'd find a way to stay together. We're determined!

It would not be the same....

I would no longer be able to feel you Orihime..

[Spock ran a hand down her back... Give her a tight hug.]

I will make arrangements with the Captain... we will be together on every away mission from now on.

No no, that's not necessary! I was just being childish, you know how I can be!

[She doesn't want to tip the balance of a delicate diplomatic situation, or have her ignorance result in the injury of another officer. ...But she does very much want to go with him on missions that are already dangerous, as she can be a lot of help. Her shield might have done much to protect both Kirk and Spock. ...ah...she does like it when he rubs her back... Orihime lifts her head and kisses his jaw.]

Let's sleep on it.

[She whispers, keeping her voice low.]

We're both pretty keyed up, so we shouldn't make any decisions in haste, ne...?

[Spock was shaking his head... He was really upset about this.]

No... no Orihime! I... I cannot leave you. [That and the fact that the sudden breaking of the bond might be an end for Orihime as well.]

Let us go to our quarters.. [Spock made a move to sit up, taking Orihime with him.]

Hoh...?

[This is unusual behavior for him. Either she didn't finish repairing the damage that was done, or he really was that shaken from the near-death experience. She can hardly blame him. She blinks as they rise, and she nods her agreement.]

That sounds good to me. I'll let McCoy-san know we're checking out.

[She kind of wants to see if he'll boggle at Spock's hasty healing anyway, that'll cheer them up!]
