Arranged Marriage Turned More To have and to hold, you said, till death do us part, all while the sharp, swinging pendulum of obligation hung overhead. But how could you have truly meant those words? This union has been tainted from the start, forever bearing the chains of an arranged marriage. It would be understandable if you couldn't bear to look at your new life partner, eternal reminder of your stolen future that they are, much less like them. Much less love them... Still, things can change. You could realize that they are in the same boat as you or, that when compared to others around you, they are the lesser of evils. Perhaps you even open up to the idea of a friendship; at the very least, an alliance may be in order to become a power couple in a perilous world. From that innocent decision or sense of self-preservation, a new feelings sparks. Something like affection. Something, you realize in the wake of speeding heartbeats, like love. Will you acknowledge this? Can the two of you have a happily ever after - happier than if you'd met in another fashion - or will you hold firm in your distaste? how to play. - Everybody loves "couples forged by less-than-ideal circumstances" tropes! - Comment with your character, prefs, all that good stuff. - Reply to others. - IDEC where you set your threads, it's wide open. Fantasy world with hairy hobbits, old-timey lands, future AUs, do a space marriage for all I care. I'm sure they're still getting married in Star Wars or whatever.

It made sense. For the last Valyrian princess to wed a prince of Asgard would strengthen both their peoples and ensure their survival. Of course, there were those who feared such an alliance might upset the balance of power in the universe, but on the other hand, there were some who spoke as if their union was a matter of destiny. Daenerys wasn't certain she believed that, but it was her duty to do what was best for her people, and again. It made sense.

She works late. Less a bad habit, and more sheer determination, although she’d be willing to admit that “work/life balance” was something she’d yet to master. However, in the name of their mutual arrangement, she made the commitment to have a proper dinner with Margaery at least once a week, where they just talk and it’s not necessarily a requisite strategy meeting.

All this means that arriving home in time is important, and she makes it in time to intercept the delivery, and to silence any comment the young man might have made. Why would he comment?

Well, she’s barefoot, carrying her heels as one has snapped, and her dress is soaked. When she steps into the house she feels her shoulders relax with the warmth.

“Margaery?” Please. Please let her have remembered the wine.

Or perhaps it is God that had somehow arranged for this as penance for his crimes.

To be wed into the fae family, a means to unite the human and the fae world. And who better than the son of the Cassano mafia family for the prince? The courts, from what Vincenzo had seen, are no different than the different mafia families around Italy, no different than the corporations he'd faced in Korea. Perhaps it is a blessing after all that it is he that they had chosen as the groom for this Prince Faolan. Someone who had witnessed the impossibly darkest corners of humanity. One last deal that Paolo, his former brother, had struck in order to save his own skin: an offer for a groom to their prince.

He clicks his beloved lighter open and closed as he awaits for his new husband to finish his farewells to the party guests. The wedding had taken place in Ireland, glittering with the Courts' attendance in a castle that Vincenzo is pretty sure that someone along the Courts had built. Vincenzo had claimed to be tired from the festivities and retired first. He'd undressed and pulled on a dark blue silk robe and made himself comfortable in one of the large chairs in the wedding suite. It's a habit, clicking the lid open, then close; a way for him to focus.

When he hears the door open, he clicks the lighter closed and pockets it away before standing and turning toward the door for his husband.

[ Not sure if you know Fenris, but if nothing else they would make a very interesting pair of murder-husbands. Or at least be able to compare their vast amount of scars between them.
As for how they've been 'arranged', maybe Fenris was a form of peace-offering (since he was Danarius' best and most favored slave) in exchange for Nuada not murdering Danarius and his brood of mages. Which backfires because that is all Fenris wants to do.

When he is told that he must make an alliance with the Ghost Valley, he isn't pleased, however Zhou Zishu is, at his core, dedicated to those who follow him. This alliance will ensure their safety long-term - even after he is gone.

So be it. He is told that the Ghost Lord is going to pay him a visit, so he sits in the room intended for guests, waiting silently. He doesn't sit on a throne nor does he wield a giant sword. Zhou Zishu is a weapon in and of himself - much like this Wen Kexing. If anything goes amiss, he doesn't need help in dealing with it.
