Truth or dare? is a mostly verbal party game requiring two or more players. Players are given the choice between answering a question truthfully, or performing a "dare", both of which are set by the other players. Players must perform the dare they are given, or answer the question asked, quitting the game to avoid a dare or question is not allowed, or switching the choice with the other.


How to play -

1. Top-level with your character.
2. Others make them choose between truth or dare.
3. Play till you tire.

I think maybe we oughta tweak the rules before we get going, what do you think? [Not that he actually expects Loki to follow any but, hey, what can he say? Mobius is a true optimist.] Just to even out the playing field.

[ hmm. that does pique his curiousity. ]

What did you have in mind?

[themstandsformobius]

[Mobius tilts his head.] Well, there's some things I can't share and some things you're probably not gonna wanna do so how about reserving the right to pass on 'em? That seem fair?

[timevariant]

I don't know. Considering you technically know everything about me.

[themstandsformobius]

[Well, he's got him there.] I know a considerable amount, sure, but I'd be an idiot to think I knew everything. That's just a disaster waiting to happen.

Plus, I've only got an outsider's perspective. You know how long I've been waiting to pick that brain of yours, Loki? Too damn long.

[Mobius gets it. He's seen The Truman Show, he thinks he can guess how Loki's probably feeling about him snooping on every aspect of his life from afar and violated probably doesn't even begin to cover it.] But if you wanna change the rules of the game too, be my guest.

[timevariant]

[ loki frowns because rude. but fair, probably. having seen enough of his life, loki knows that it was imperfect. better than he had expected, but imperfect. all things are. ]

Why don't we start with the normal rules and see how it goes?

Truth or dare, Mobius.

[themstandsformobius]

[Mobius shrugs.] Have it your way.

Since you could probably use a demonstration I'm gonna go with truth. Just - [He holds up a hand before Loki gets too carried away.] - remember my proviso, okay? Reserving my right to remain silent here so go easy.

[timevariant]

[ well, if he's going to be that way. loki adopts a perfectly innocent look. ]

Are you a virgin?

[themstandsformobius]

[What? What way? Mobius is a delight! Everybody thinks so!]

Going for the shock factor, I like it. Excellent play right there.

[Loki'll have to excuse him for not clutching at his pearls at the question. If anything, he seems less offended and more decidedly amused.] We'll circle back to why you wanna know later. [Is that a promise or a threat? Mobius is smiling so pleasantly at him that it's hard to tell.] But you're smart, Loki, so you've probably already surmised that office romances aren't exactly encouraged. Have you seen how much paperwork's involved?

[timevariant]

[ his nose scrunches up at disgust. ]

And this is the place you want to work at until the end of time?

[themstandsformobius]

[Mobius shrugs helplessly.] Eh, it's not a matter of want, Loki, it just -- It is what it is. When you're outside of the Timeline, you just gotta accept that some things are outta your reach.

And, as you astutely point out, I'm probably gonna be here until the end of time. I mean, I sure hope so, anyway, because the alternative kinda sucks, right? So I don't wanna be running into exes and having awkward exchanges in the halls for all eternity. It's -- [He waves a hand.] It's an unnecessary complication, let's just leave it at that.

[timevariant]

[ he frowns. ]

Maybe.

But the idea that you can't want things is disturbing.

[themstandsformobius]

I can want as many things as I like. Just can't have 'em, that's all. [Like it could ever really be that simple.]

Why does it bother you so much?

[timevariant]

[ loki frowns, though it doesn't seem directed at mobius. ]

I don't know. It just seems like anathema to me. Everything about me rebels against it.

[themstandsformobius]

[Mobius nods his understanding, his usually restless hands slipping habitually into the pockets of his slacks to keep them still.] I bet it does, and that's okay. It's just what makes you you. [And, hey, Mobius wouldn't change a thing.]

So. Truth or dare?

[timevariant]

[ loki waves a flippant hand, ignoring that remark until he feels up to the task of dealing with it. ]

Truth.

[themstandsformobius]

[Too soon, maybe? Mobius gets it and he'll let it drop for the time being, regarding Loki thoughtfully for a moment.] Tell me what you really think of Thor.

[timevariant]

[ loki flinches. ]

What? Why?

[themstandsformobius]

[Because he's curious, because Mobius has a mental list of questions he's promised himself he'd ask if he ever got the chance to speak to a Loki in person for more than just a few minutes, a sort of bucket list he'd like to see ticked off but, more than that, because he's seen what happens. He's seen the end of Loki's timeline and knows what Loki sacrifices for his brother and the detective in him wants to understand how he ends up there and why.]

Just wanna get your perspective on things.

[timevariant]

[ he scowls. ]

I don't see how my perspective on my brother is beneficial.

[themstandsformobius]

Never said it would be. [He waves for Loki to keep going anyway.] But we won't know until we try.

[timevariant]

. . . Fine.

[ loki huffs, crossing his arms. ]

Thor's an idiot. Things come easily to him and he never recognizes that. Never realizes how difficult it was for me. And he's a hypocrite. He spends three days on Earth and somehow becomes a better person. Just like that.
