Vampires have nests. But none of those have connections that can compare to the bond of a werewolf pack. You should know. You're part of one, either born a werewolf or turned. For humans, blood is thicker than water; for wolves, the pack is to the bone. Of course, with humans, romantic relationships can complicate closeness of other sorts. That's not the case with werewolf pairings, as they tend to grow out of natural pack dynamics and are viewed as just another facet of life. The only difference is that werewolves tend to treat relationships, even potential would-be-mates, with extreme seriousness. (Temporary) Two Man Pack

The unspoken rule was that one of the others stayed with Nile at all times. She'd mostly-jokingly protested at first, that she was a grown woman who didn't need a babysitter, but at the same time she was thankful for it, because the whole 'oh and now you're a werewolf, sorry not sorry' thing was... well it was a lot.

The two of them had been taking it in turns, one scouting for somewhere safe for the three of them to weather the full moon and the other making sure she was safe.

The problem was that they were rapidly running out of time to find someplace, down to mere days, and Nile knew it, some kind of bone-deep itch. Not an ache, not really, it wasn't painful as much as it was annoying and she wasn't wholly sure how to deal with it. Which was part of the reason that she was in the kitchen for the third time in the past two hours, making a sandwich that was mostly meat and cheese. The second reason for the sandwich was that she was hungry, or maybe she was craving something but didn't know what, exactly.

Regardless, another sandwich was preferable to just about anything else.

Nicky didn't really remember what it was to be a newly turned werewolf. He remembered the feelings of unease and uncertainty in a vague sense, but the itch of the full moon nearing was so familiar that it was easy enough to ignore.

Which is why he was sprawled out on the cot that acted as his and Joe's bed in their current safehouse, watching as Nile wandered back and forth between the living room and the kitchen, making sandwiches he wasn't even certain she was hungry enough to eat. Although, maybe they had an increased hunger that he was also used to after centuries of living with it.

"I'm getting dizzy watching you walk back and forth."

There was a mouth-full-of-sandwich mumble of: "Sorry." Followed by her moving closer to offer the plate while she finished chewing so that she could ask, "You want half? It's just roast beef and cheddar, but somebody made sure we had the good stuff from the deli and not just Oscar Mayer."

That last part was mostly a tease, and mostly because of how shocked and even mildly appalled both Nicky and Joe had been when she'd referred to the name-brand packaged stuff as 'fancy', and she was still catching on to the fact that most anything they considered normal staples, she considered some level of gourmet.

Nicky's lips tilt up in the barest hint of a smile at the tease but he raises a hand to wave away the plate. "No, thank you. I'm okay." Eventually, her appetite would settle into something she was more familiar with but for now, she was new and she still needed to learn how to navigate her new appetite.

"You can't deny that it's better than Oscar Mayer."

"Definitely is." She replied before taking another hefty bite of the half sandwich still in her hand, and she did actually finish chewing before she added, "And hopefully this one sticks so I don't make your dizziness worse by going to make another in a half hour."

There was a pause then, not hesitation really, but working out what it was she wanted to ask, and how to ask it so that it didn't become an accusation of some kind, which was often harder than it seemed, "We aren't going to... you know, run something down and eat it over the full moon, right?"

"There is hope for you yet, Nile." Soon enough, Nile wouldn't even consider buying the cheap and nasty versions of anything. At least, not if Nicky had any say in the matter. He'd started to teach her basics in the kitchen but there were so many things still for her to learn and he was excited to have a new student all over again. "If you need another, maybe make two."

Nicky knows that Nile's question comes from a place of genuine concern but it doesn't stop the soft snort of laughter that escapes, covered weakly with a cough. "No. We don't make a habit of it."
