stage i; none, streets are already blanketed in white.
stage ii; very light and intermittent.
stage iii; light - moderate. lasts longer periods.
stage iv; continuous, heavy snowfall.
stage v; the hardest of cores - blizzards, snowstorms, you name it.

scenarios;

① fuck the police, this is the best time for a walk. hope you've got a nice thick coat on.

② stranded in the buttcrack of nowheresville? weren't you watching the time? now you've gone and missed that last bus out of there. or maybe you're lost, somehow. what do?

③ literally chilling, in this weather, is quite easy to do. sitting around relaxing in it is a wee more difficult, but sometimes much more enjoyable, especially if shelter can be found. the snow is beautiful to watch, after all.

④ the weather's not going to stop you. your snow fort's packed full of ammo and ready to go. those aren't snow angels over there; they mark where the poor souls you've downed have fallen. be careful with that snowman's head!!

⑤ you're about fifty miles from civilization but there's a roof over your head, so never mind the chilly draught, right? right. you mightn't be the only one lucky enough to stumble upon this little shelter, though. remember to share the blanket.

⑥ everyone stuck outside should be jelly. you've got a fireplace and hot cocoa and damn if it isn't awesome. a heater's not quite so romantic, but it'd do. there'd better be a backup generator in case the power trips.

[Rebekah has gloves and even a woolen cap to keep her long blonde hair in tact. None of it necessary, but it keeps up appearances.

She nods a little.]

Everything's so noisy these days. The quiet is nice. [A reminder of simpler times. The world changed and they spent a century in a coffin while it did so (okay, only ninety years for her, but close enough.]

I shouldn't complain. At least there are better toys.

Speaking of toys... Whatever happened with Matt?

Matt wasn't a toy. [Or he wasn't once he started treating her nicely.]

And nothing. Apparently boys don't appreciate when you nearly kill them.

You nearly killed him?

[He should be appalled. Really, he should be. Except he's Kol and he's both delighted and a bit impressed.]

Whatever did Mr. All American do to deserve that?

He was simply in the wrong place at the wrong time. It was Elena I was trying to kill, so Alaric would die. He happened to be in the truck with her -- an unfortunate circumstance, but unavoidable. [As much as she liked Matt, protecting her family would always come first.]

[He sobers. He loves his family (even Klaus), but he's far more inclined toward protectiveness of Rebekah. In a twisted, dysfunctional, way, but they are who and what they are.]

Would breaking his other hand help?

[Rebekah almost smiles. It's sweet -- or as close to sweet as anyone in their family gets.]

I don't think it's worth the effort, honestly.

[He'd rather continue their walk, though he's hardly going to say so. That might be sweet - by normal people's standards.]

Does Elijah know what you did with Elena?

Unless Niklaus contacted him, I doubt it. I hope he can understand, given the circumstances. I know he's always had a weakness for the doppelgangers.

[It's said with disdain, she's never understood the appeal.]

He may have a weakness for doppelgangers, but you are his sister. He'll either understand, or he'll get over it.

[He doesn't get it, either. He's fairly confident in Elijah, at least. He can't imagine Elijah wanting them all dead at Alaric's hand, or doing anything rash.]

Exactly. It was a necessary course of action to protect the rest of us. And she's a vampire now so it's not like she's gone forever or anything.

Oh. Lovely. That will certainly help with his doppelganger issues.

Well it's not like I knew she had blood in her system at the time.

[He waves a hand, equal parts irritable and dismissive.] I'm not upset at you, just anticipating the next several centuries of brooding and mooning.

[She nods a little.] An unfortunate side effect of the situation, but Elijah will pull through, I'm sure.

Yes, but will we? [It is, though well disguised, affectionate mocking.] You plan to stay here and carry on with 'high school'?

I believe in us. And if he's too annoying we will just have to find other things to distract him with. [That's what family's for, right? At the question she nods a little.]

That is the plan. I am tired of living on the run.

It seems Klaus is... setting up headquarters, here. I think I may kill two birds with one stone, or whatever the stupid metaphor is, and see if I can convince Elijah to come with me for a bit. Stop him brooding and keep me company.

Or you could stick around for a while. There's always that option. [She's missed her brother's company.]

[He offers her his hand, in a simple, if childish, gesture.]

For a while. If I stick around too long, I'll scare off all your prospective... fun. [Read: Dates] Or kill them. One of the two.

[She takes his hand, nodding her head.] I suppose I can't let you ruin all my fun, can I?

Please. I didn't ruin Matt, I broke his hand. I can though, if you change your mind and accept my offer to defend your honor. [He is probably playing, but that doesn't mean he wouldn't, given half a chance.]

Really, he didn't do anything to hurt my honor. [She gets why Matt isn't quick to forgive her, even if it is frustrating.]

Did he hurt anything else?

My feelings, I suppose. I replaced his truck, I don't see what the big deal is. Elena's even alive -- in a way.
