Arranged Marriage Turned More To have and to hold, you said, till death do us part, all while the sharp, swinging pendulum of obligation hung overhead. But how could you have truly meant those words? This union has been tainted from the start, forever bearing the chains of an arranged marriage. It would be understandable if you couldn't bear to look at your new life partner, eternal reminder of your stolen future that they are, much less like them. Much less love them... Still, things can change. You could realize that they are in the same boat as you or, that when compared to others around you, they are the lesser of evils. Perhaps you even open up to the idea of a friendship; at the very least, an alliance may be in order to become a power couple in a perilous world. From that innocent decision or sense of self-preservation, a new feelings sparks. Something like affection. Something, you realize in the wake of speeding heartbeats, like love. Will you acknowledge this? Can the two of you have a happily ever after - happier than if you'd met in another fashion - or will you hold firm in your distaste? how to play. - Everybody loves "couples forged by less-than-ideal circumstances" tropes! - Comment with your character, prefs, all that good stuff. - Reply to others. - IDEC where you set your threads, it's wide open. Fantasy world with hairy hobbits, old-timey lands, future AUs, do a space marriage for all I care. I'm sure they're still getting married in Star Wars or whatever.

They had managed to get her to put on the dress. Frilly and entirely too much of everything, but no power on Earth could have parted her from her large brown boots underneath. Which was entirely to their detriment because the very first thing Delilah Dirk did was to kick one of the 'ushers' very hard in the vulnerables.

The man fell over, gasping out expletives in a suddenly higher register than he'd been using before. The largest of the ushers barrelled into her, picking her up around the midsection. Unfortunately taking her kicking legs out of the occasion, but leaving her arms free as she was hefted onto his shoulder.

Which, really, was also to their detriment because the second thing she did was hit the fake 'father of the bride' across the face with a very large candle, grabbed from a candelabra. And then she grabbed the candelabra. The usher trying to carry her down the aisle went down in a heap as she brought the base of it down on top of his head, making a sound a lot like a tired old flatulent lion might - if he could get up, he simply wasn't going to. He'd had his fill.

It took two of them to get her by the arms, dragging her upwards towards the altar, her heels dragging noisily on the stones. She hooked a foot around one of the pews, dragging the empty wooden bench by one side as she was pulled - thunking into the pew ahead of it, then tipping forwards as she was finally dragged over it.

Finally, though, she was dragged up the steps. The officiant looked mildly distressed, as one might when confronted with a distasteful smell.

"Are we quite prepared?" He began. Then slowly fell over as she had wriggled free and hit him with the communion plate. Ropes would have to be employed, then, but even so - she looked around, trying to find the 'groom' so she could kick them in the shins.
