The Dragon's Bride

Flames, then ash. Your village will be left with little else should the dragon that plagues the countryside not get his demanded sacrifice...if you're lucky. Your good fortune turns south, the bones of your neighbors (or whatever else remains of them) litter a new charred graveyard that was once a town. So, the necessary offers must be made. At least that's the hope. The alternative would be too awful to contemplate. In a last-ditch effort to save those you love — or against your will, as these things tend to go with forcibly created martyrs — you have been hoisted onto the pyre, waiting for the dragon to fly off with you. What terrors race through your mind as your doom impends? How you'll end up in a beast's belly, no doubt. Except, you must consider this: there are worst fates than being a dragon's next meal. A monster that covets you as its treasure...a new type of danger unfurls its wings. You've become a dragon's bride. But could such an infernal creature ever learn to know honest, unselfish affection? Is it possible to be more than a "spouse?" A mere treasure? Perhaps, you could learn to be a dragon's love. HOW TO PLAY ✗ Comment with your character, roles ("dragon" or "bride") prefs, etc. ✗ Y'all know how this goes. Approach "dragon" as a stand-in. The monster mash could be elves, orcs, goblins, werewolves, demons, dwarves, fey, purple people eaters, what have you. Of course, actual dragon and shifters folks are welcome, too! And don't think that you have to make your boring human a boring ol' human. Consider this the monster/supernatural being/cryptid/creature AU of your dreams! ✗ Second verse, same as the first, "bride" registers as gender-neutral 'round these parts. That word choice just sounds a touch more poetic. ✗ Reply to others.

Asterope, a vagrant and occasionally a thief, thought to be an orphan, was expendable in the way the villagers didn't consider their own children. She waits, occasionally straining at the ropes that hold her to the tree, but there doesn't seem to be any progress made as she does.]

[ The Cultivation world, as a whole, was scared of the Yiling Lazou. He was a force to be reckoned with. When one could control the dead, summon them at their whim, they feared. Not that he cared what they did or didn't fear.

They did, however, think that sacrificing the Yiling Patriarch to the dragon was a good idea. Even if Wei Wuxian could care less. If anything? He's sitting outside of the dragon's cave, Chenqing to his lips playing a haunting melody that nobody knows.

Maybe the dragon would feel the air of power from it, or maybe it's muted, but either way. He was one to wake a dragon and not care about the consequences. ]

[I had a bit of a thought but I'm not sure if you'd be interested... Shen Qiao could be the successor to the blue dragon guardian as it's a tradition to switch out guardians after confronting the great serpent in order to keep battles free from past grudges over-riding clear thoughts with emotions, but is ambushed with a poisonous curse by a powerful demon and ends up accidentally abducting Qing Ming to 'fix' the problem.

I have a preference list in his entries for more general rping as well as a f-list link in his profile, I figure it could go either direction but would rather let you decide what you're comfortable with since this is our kinda-second encounter. Bai Qian-mun, I head-desked for an hour after I connected the actor-dots and tracked down his canon.]

"I..." Zagreus pauses, a little confused-- and even more stunned. A bride? Of sorts? A snort escaped under his breath, did they think him so much his father he was going to whisk some poor damsel away? He can already feel the underworld dragging against him, pulling him back, and there is a temptation to just leave her there. But she looks unwell, tired, hungry. It's his consciousness that gives him pause.

"And what is your name?" He finally asks, glancing around the rocks she's been left on, his feet burning against the grass as he steps closer, glowing even in the evening's dim light.
