The AU and Crossover Grab Bag Meme

This is the meme for people who love all kinds of AUs and crossovers.

[How To]

1. Post as your character. (Please write down the name and canon/fandom of the character in the subject line, and also if they're canon, AU, crossover or OC, etc. Please also write down preferences, etc in the comment box)

2. Choose a scenario, or any combinations of any scenarios you want to try out. Making up your own scenario is fine, too! Either mun can make the suggestions for a scenario.

3. Thread, tag and have fun!

[Sample Scenarios]

1. [AU or Crossover] The Actor/Actress AU - The characters are now actors in this AU, with their original canon being a TV series/movie, etc, that they're starring in.

2. [AU or Crossover] Different Versions Of The Same Character - The muns describe 3 to 10 alternate/different versions of a character, be they AU, Crossover or something else, and RP with one (or more then one) of them.

3-a. [AU] The Role Switch AU - Main Character, Side Character - The main characters are now supporting characters, and the supporting characters are now main characters.

[ In retrospect, paying attention to what the guy at the hotel had said when he’d given them directions and a map would have been a good idea. But Tony had been distracted, and since they’d been given a map, he assumed their destination would be easy to find. Turns out, he’d been wrong.

He knows Machu Picchu is northwest of Cusco. He knows it’s close to fifty miles. It’s a famous landmark and tourist destination, it should be easy to find. And maybe it would have been if he’d turned onto the right road. But the further along the old, muddy dirt road he drives, the less convinced he is that he’s been driving in the right direction.

Sheepishly, he glances at Bruce. Obviously, this calls for subtlety. ]

So. Do you know where we are?

[Bruce isn't dumb. He knows they're lost. He knows they've been lost for a little bit less time than Tony's probably known it, but still. So yeah, he's not completely dumb, but he's also not smart enough to have listened closely to the guy giving them the map at the hotel, which is why he hasn't said anything until now. He has a map spread open on his lap, and he's glancing at it and at their surroundings occasionally like he's following some path on it. When Tony asks finally, he turns away from the window.]

Hm? Oh yeah. We're right about... [He moves his finger in a circle over the map like he's narrowing in, and then he just draws the same big, nonspecific, hopelessly lost circle on the map.]

Here.

[ Oh good! Bruce knows where they are. That means he can just apologize for getting them lost, turn the car around, and they'll be on their way.

Looking down expectantly at the map, Tony blinks when Bruce indicates an area that in no way tells him where exactly they are. Okay. On to plan B. He just wishes they had a plan B.

He looks back at the road, willing a helpful road sign to appear to no avail. ]

For the record, I'd stop to ask for directions. There's just an enormous lack of convenience stores for me to pull over at.

When we get out of here, we'll start a chain of information kiosks, located in the miscellaneous Peruvian wilderness, to help lost tourists.

[He sounds calm mainly because he is, so far. There's no reason to get too riled up; he knows the direction they came from, and as long as they have gas and the car works, they can get back to there, if not to Machu Picchu.]

Alright, let's figure this out. Where did we turn last? Maybe we should backtrack and turn around?

I can get behind that. A little entrepreneurial enterprise in other countries. Build up a retirement fund for when Hollywood’s not paying for our gorgeous faces to grace their movies and TV shows.

[ Speaking of, Tony knows that this isn’t a horror movie. There’s no cabin in the woods filled with cannibals waiting to “help” them with the directions should they be forced to stop. He’s not alarmed. He is embarrassed though. Nothing like trying to impress Bruce by getting them both lost. ]

I think it was five miles back. We can turn around. You want to do that?

[Tony doesn't need to worry about impressing Bruce; that's already done. Besides, the things that really impress Bruce aren't about knowing how to read a map, like his lack of panic for instance. Sometimes being lost can be more fun than getting where you're going.

He twists around in his seat to look behind them, then faces forward again to look at where they are.]

We could. Or we could see where this leads us. As long as we know how to get back, right?

Sure. I mean, every road's gotta go somewhere, right? And Peru's only almost half a million square miles.

[ Turning his head, he flashes Bruce a grin that's mostly joking. He doesn't have any intention of driving the length and breadth of the country, but if there's one thing he's learned in life, anything's possible. ]

I can get us back. I think.

[ He checks the gas gauge, then the rearview mirror. ]

Although maybe turning around wouldn't be too bad.

[He returns the grin, appreciating the joke and also the hint behind it, that if they were feeling ridiculous enough they could drive the length of the country. Bruce doesn’t let his flights of fancy become reality anymore – not after Incredible Hulk turned into such a disaster, not after he suffered such a crippling blow to his confidence and then his, like, actual sanity and criminal record and public opinion, etc. He’s almost afraid to let anyone know that he has creative ideas anymore, that he wants to be bold or try something new.

He’s not as afraid of that with Tony. Tony makes it all seem possible again, and safe too.]

Okay. We’ll turn around and make an adventure out of whatever we find along the way? We can do Machu Picchu tomorrow – that’s the beauty of life without schedules and agents.

[He smiles and then jerks his thumb toward the back.] We packed food. We can picnic or something.

That sounds like a perfect plan.

[ Really, short of driving the car into a swamp or over the side of a cliff, Tony isn't worried about it. Worse comes to worse, they call someone and get directions that way. He may not have much legitimate experience with hiking and backpacking through the wilderness, but in a pinch, he thinks he could survive.

If a wild animal didn't eat him, poison him, or otherwise kill him. ]

Picnic gets my vote. I'm starving.

[ At the next widening of the road, Tony turns the car around and heads back the way they came, looking for a good place to pull over. ]

When you see something that looks decent, let me know.

[He's not sure why Tony telling him that makes him smile as much as it does. It's not like he hasn't had friends since he went on his grand world tour, but he never really hung out with people. He was pretty depressed, and then slid into a pattern of being on his own; it didn't really bother him. Now, though, he has a friend, and he's almost forgotten what this is like.

They drive a little ways, and then he points at a small clearing.]

There, what do you think?

Looks good to me.

[ He doesn't pause for a second thought, simply pulls the car over and off the side of the road and parts it in the grass. If someone comes along and gives him hell over it, he'll just ask for directions. No harm done.

Turning to Bruce, he reaches back behind himself to open the door. ]

If this turns into a remark of The Ruins - you know, killer plants - leave the picnic basket and run like hell.

[ His smile says he's kidding. It's too bright to actually be worried about killer flora lurking in the shadows. ]

Don't worry; I'm good at plants. If it comes to that, let me talk them down.

[He smirks and then grabs his water bottle before he climbs out of the car; he stretches his back, looking out at the plants in question. It's nice to get out of LA and breathe.]

Alright, let's see. Do we happen to have a blanket in here or are we doing this on our jackets?

Okay. That's your job. Plant-whisperer.

[ Hopping out of the driver's seat, Tony pauses by the trunk to get the food and rummage for something to sit on. ]

You know, I think we do. Have a blanket.

[ It's folded into a small square and tucked beneath a service kit and a first aid box. Unearthing it, he straightens up and shuts the trunk before joining Bruce at his side of the car. ]

How do the natives look? Friendly or restless?

Friendly so far, but we should try not to upset them. No flower picking.

[It's delivered in the most serious of ways, and then he turns to Tony with a grin and takes the blanket from him.]

See? Didn't I tell you this is better than LA? Even when you're lost.

[He shakes the blanket out and spreads it on the ground, and then sits, leaning back on his hands.]

I have you all to myself, out in the middle of jungle nowhere. Of course it's better than LA.

[ He grins back, obviously enjoying himself whether or not he knows where the hell he is. Dropping down next to Bruce, he gestures to the plants around them as he gets out the food. ]

I'd give you flowers, you know, be all romantic about it, but I don't want our green, leafy friends to get pissed and strangle us with vines or something for my audacity.

[And here, away from LA and paparazzi and ads with their faces on it, that flirtation is so much easier to take. He ducks his head, hiding his shy smile and hopefully the color just touching the tips of his ears.]

Strangling doesn't make for good romance, no. Not unless you're into that.

[He starts to help Tony with the food, still avoiding his eyes.]

I'm pretty pleased to have you to myself too.

In special cases, maybe. I don't know. Never really dabbled too far into it.

[ Is that too much information? Tony doesn't know. And he's not used to monitoring the words that come out of his mouth anyway. If Bruce doesn't already know that no topic is sacred, he'll learn before this trip is over. ]

But you know, you've got me to yourself for as long as you want me. So, hey.

[ He leans against him, nudging him in the side with his elbow. ]

Take advantage.

[Tony's candor is refreshing when Bruce has spent so long bottled up, stifled creatively and burned by backlash and public ridicule. He's ready to let go of that, he thinks, and Tony's openness comes along at the right time. When Tony presses against him, Bruce figures he has a choice -- let it slide or challenge himself.

He smooths his hand along the small of Tony's back, slowly settling his arm into prime position for holding someone. He adds, for more external flair and internal flailing:]

So you want me to take advantage of you?

[ Subtly pressing back into Bruce’s hand, Tony looks at him with a sly, challenging smirk. ]

It’s not really taking advantage if I want you to do it, is it?

[ He shrugs the shoulder not currently holding most of his weight. Act or don’t act, he thinks, and really, there’s no choice to be made. Leaning over, he presses a lingering kiss the the edge of Bruce’s jaw. ]

But yeah. Yeah, I do.

[The last thing Bruce needs is a sexuality spotlight shining on him, but times are moderately different now, right? Ellen and NPH and Anderson Cooper, even, and it doesn't need to mean his face will be everywhere. And he also probably shouldn't be thinking about this with Tony kissing his jaw; that would be the height of stupidity.

Cupping Tony's face, he draws him closer, but he doesn't kiss him yet; he holds them in this limbo, tips of their noses touching and his parted lips hovering over Tony's until he finally closes the gap, pressing their mouths together.]

[ Kissing Bruce for real instead of pretend flirting with him on camera, Tony decides after approximately two seconds, is infinitely preferable and needs to be done more often. Much, much more often.

While his first instinct is to take over the kiss, he’s got enough sense to take it easy. Just because he’s been lusting after a coworker doesn’t mean that Bruce isn’t humoring him with this. Or maybe he’s just curious. Tony can’t remember what the official stance is Bruce’s sexual preferences, though he knows that public knowledge doesn’t always equate to what’s true in private. So he takes it slow, lets himself explore the shape and texture of Bruce’s lips with his own as if he’s got all the time in the world to do it. The hand he starts raising, with the vague intention of touching his face, falters halfway there and ends up against his chest, fingers slightly curled into his shirt. ]

[It might be easy to see this as one of those falling-for-your-costars thing, but Bruce has been drawn to Tony for a long time now, which is to say, it happened immediately upon meeting him. How could he avoid it? Tony's magnetic and endearing, and handsome, yes; he's got... layers. Like an ogre. Banner, stop. Just because you're nervous doesn't mean you can think about cartoons.

He makes a small noise of encouragement and runs his fingers through Tony's hair, his touch tender and caring. This isn't about experimentation or a whim, and that's what makes this more frightening, but Bruce has been on his own long enough and Tony? He's too special just to let him go by. He pulls back enough to smile, and his thumb traces the outline of Tony's ear.]

I would like it stated for the record that this is one of the most romantic things that's ever happened to me.

[ It makes him smile. A wide, easy smile that he only indulges in with the people he knows. It’s the kind of smile he keeps private, for the life he lives away from the prying, curious eyes of the public. ]

What? Being spirited away to a South American country? Or lunch among the wild Audrey Twos who’re still waiting for their Seymours to come?

[ Bruce thinks about cartoons. Tony thinks about 80s musicals. It’s like the kind of fairytale matchmaking that movies have been trying to convince people is real since movies were invented. ]

Or was it getting lost that did it for you?

[He likes that smile. A lot. Most of what Tony does lights Bruce up in a way he didn't think was possible anymore, but that smile -- that smile could be life changing. Probably it already is.]

Mmm, all of the above. Audrey Twos included. When we leave, we should check ourselves for any seedlings.

[Now he has to duck his head to hide his smile, and he presses his lips together to try to wrangle it under control.]

This is all falling into place so neatly I'd be surprised if there isn't a musical number building. Or maybe your real name's Fabio?
