Ah, rain—the precipitation that the whole world has a love/hate affair with. It waters the garden for free and ruins baseball games. It cools you off in the summer and it causes more ice and sleet to appear in the winter. Sometimes it is lovely and falls at a decent pace for a few hours, other times, it blasts the whole eastern seaboard away.

Poems and songs have been written about it, people have danced in it, others have cursed its entire existence, and still more refuse to go out and drive in it.

Now it’s time to roll some dice and see what the weather will have in store for you today.

1. DRIZZLE ☂ It’s not too heavy or too light of a downpour, just enough to wash away stuff in the air, water the ground, and clean up the streets.

2. MONSOON ☂ It’s horrible and awful! Rain is coming down in buckets, no one can get anywhere, the wind is whipping everything about, and now the cable is out.

3. SHOWER ☂ Reminds you of early spring, doesn’t it? A nice shower to make everything all green and smell fresh again. Lovely.

4. FLOOD ☂ While rain is good, it can sometimes be bad. Grab a boat!

5. CATS & DOGS ☂ You’re lucky with this one. It’s not the worst storm in the world, but it’s still pretty heavy. Be careful when driving!

6. SUDDEN STORM ☂ It might have been predicted, but sometimes storms just sweep in and do their thing with little to no warning. Hope you’re not outside.

7. THUNDER & LIGHTNING ☂ Loud, surprising, scary, ominous, comforting, fantastic to watch or listen to… some like thunder and lightning, others not so much. Of course, if this happens before a big confrontation, the universe is telling you something.

8. CAN’T GET WORSE ☂ You did not say that. You did not just say that. How many times does this need to be seen in movies and books before anyone learns?

9. STUCK ☂ No, no, no, no. This cannot be happening. What happened to the ten percent chance of rain? You forgot your umbrella and now you’re stuck in it!

10. RUINED PLANS ☂ You had all these wonderful plans to go outside, have some fun in the sunshine, do some errands, maybe a date… and the weather goes against them.

11. DANCING ☂ Sometimes rain is a cause for celebration, or you just feel like doing something spontaneous. Grab someone to join you and get wet!

12. RAIN BATTLE ☂ The most intense, important battles happen in the rain. Verbal spars, punching someone in the guts; it’s all dramatic and climatic. And no one slips.

You saved his life.

[ It's amazing that this person was able to spot the box or hear the sound of the cat's mewing amidst the heavy rainfall. ]

Were you planning to stay with it until the rain stopped?

Yeah… I almost just left my umbrella with him, but… I thought he might get lonely out here and then I thought the umbrella might blow away if I left it.

[ It wasn’t like he was in any hurry to go home anyway, so it just seemed like the better option. The thought never even crossed him about how the rain might affect him later. ]

[dawdled]

[ In response to that, Langa stays quiet. The person did a nice thing for the cat, but in exchange, he could potentially get sick from staying out in the rain without his umbrella. Langa doesn't even know how long he's been sitting out there until he got to him.

So as soon as they reach Langa's home, he makes an offer: ]

You can come inside and dry off first. Wait for the rain to pass.

Are.... you sure? I wouldn't... want to impose.

[ He wasn't expecting this kind cat enjoying guy to just invite him into his home. I-it was so strange. ]

[dawdled]

[ It didn't sit right with Langa to just let this guy go back home, all soaked and cold from the rain. Langa also doesn't really have enough money to like... send him back home in a taxi or something, which would have been the better option.

He also seemed pretty harmless. ]

You don't have to if you don't want to. But it's a lot warmer inside. My mom is probably home.

[ He stood there still for a moment, maybe debating in his head if this was really the best thing to do. It's not that he didn't think he could trust Langa. It was more so that he felt like he'd somehow be burdensome to Langa just from coming it.

Taking a deep breath, he nodded his head and followed behind Langa. ]

I... will try to not be in the way.

[ After directing the person with a soft smile, Langa then continues to lead the way up to his home. They will immediately be greeted by the warmth and comfort of being inside, away from the pouring rain. Langa leaves his shoes and board by the foyer before stepping in further to greet his mom. ]

Mom, we have guests.

[ He then turns to his human guest, realizing he hasn't gotten his name yet. ] Langa, by the way. What's your name?

[ oh... right. He sort of just followed this guy to his home and he never asked for his name or anything... That was probably dangerous, huh? Oh well he's here now.

Sunny followed behind, gently taking off his own shoes to set down down beside Langa's. ]

I'm Sunny... It's nice to meet you... officially, Langa.

[dawdled]

Nice to meet you, Sunny.

[ It's then that a very beautiful woman walks over from the kitchen to greet them, introducing herself as Langa's mom. There is worry and shock on her face from seeing how wet they both are—especially Sunny. After telling their guest to make himself at home, Nanako Hasegawa scuttles off to fetch them both a towel to dry with. ]

Do you need to use the phone? To call your parents and let them know where you are.

[ Langa asks as he gently places the box with the cat on the ground so he doesn't disturb it any futher. ]

[ Langa's mother... seems so nice. Is that way Langa's been so kind, because of his mother? He looked embarrassed hearing her cheerful tone, and stayed silent until she left to go grab towels for them. ]

I don't think my mom will even notice I'm gone... We just moved around here, but she spends most of her time out...

[dawdled]

[ He frowns from hearing Sunny's answer. That... doesn't seem right. Although he is also aware that not every household is like his own, it's still unfortunate. Despite his father's passing, Langa is still lucky enough to be loved and cared for by his mother. ]

Hm, I see. Do you live far from here?

[ He questions carefully while taking a peek into the box, checking to see if the cat was still asleep. ]

I live close by... I think anyway... The street looked familiar when I was following you...

[ Sunny stood there awkwardly, rubbing at his arms. He wasn't cold, just... awkward with new people. ]

[dawdled]

When the rain stops I can walk you home.

[ It's then that Nanako returns with two fresh towels, a change of clothes, and a mug of warm tea for Sunny. After handing Langa his towel, she immediately goes to Sunny's side to help him with whatever he needs. She even offers to lead him to the bathroom so that he can change out of his wet clothes. ]

[ A-ah....! Langa's mother was really kind. He shyly takes her offer and lets her escort him to the bathroom and maybe about ten minutes later, Sunny comes walking out of the bathroom in new clothes that were pretty much twice the size of him. Still, they were warm, so he wouldn't complain about it. he finds himself seeking out Langa again, keeping close, but leaving a little distance between the two of them. ]

Th-thank you...

[dawdled]

[ By the time Sunny comes back, he'll find Langa sitting on the couch with a towel on his lap and the kitten sleeping soundly on it. He's giving the little furball gentle strokes along its back, lending some of his warmth.

When Sunny comes close, Langa invites him to take a seat next to him. ]

Looks like my clothes are too big for you.

[ He comments. ]

I'm not surprised... you're so tall and I'm still pretty short for my age...

[ He slowly takes a seat next to Langa, taking a small peak at the adorable little kitten. Even though he was sleeping, he already looked so much happier curled up in this warm home. ]

[dawdled]

Do you wanna hold him?

[ He offers, noting the way Sunny sneaks a glance at the kitten. Carefully, Langa bunches the towel under his hands and gently places the cat and its makeshift bed upon Sunny's lap. The little kitten mews softly before going back to sleep. ]

Seems like he's really tired...
