[ Diluc really does see her as young, doesn't he...? It's a shame, but she supposes it's part of who he is. ]

Suited and relaxed

[ Japan is known for many things but among those are its many traditions. Festivals are among the customs and most inhabitants usually look forward to them at some point or another. Sometimes, this means an important holiday but other times, it means a smaller celebration, one specific to a town or even a school.

The festival held in Tokyo has no grand purpose other than to honor times gone by. A bit further from the bright lights of the city lay a collection of booths, those selling food and games, lined by rows of traditional lanterns and strings of lights. People dressed in yukata walk among the man-made paths, laughing and enjoying the festive atmosphere.

Mamoru promised to meet Usagi at the front. As usual, he's a bit early, dressed in a dark blue yukata. With her bright blond hair, she doesn't exactly blend in so he scans the crowds again. Admittedly, with her size, it can sometimes be more difficult than it would be otherwise. ]

[As usual, she's running late. It took longer than she anticipated to get to the festival. Usagi is still a bit out of breath from running (and somehow managing not to trip over her yukata in the process, because that would have been a complete disaster) when she gets to the entrance and glances around.

There are so many sights, sounds, and the delicious smell of different foods being cooked to distract her. However, it feels like the whole world narrows down to just the two of them when she catches sight of him towards the front.

Why does he look so handsome in everything he wears? This is a different look though and she can't help the soft little smile that forms as she raises her hand high over the blonde buns on her hair to draw his attention by waving her arm.

Usagi is wearing a light pink yukata with a red and white flower petal design. The fabric seems to flow around her just right as she closes the distance between the two of them. Don't trip. ]

Mamoru! Sorry for being a little late.

I expected you would be.

[ He can't sound too disappointed when she shows, not when she looks so lovely, as if capturing moonlight itself. Mamoru smiles in spite of his words, and can't stop a hand that wants to reach out to stroke a strand of golden hair. Just one touch, and he'll be satisfied. For now. ]

You look beautiful.

[ Breathtakingly so. He was right; she's impossible to miss. Everything else in the world ceases to exist when she shows looking as amazing as she does. The yukata definitely fits her well. ]

Are you hungry? We can get something to eat before seeing the attractions if you've skipped dinner.

[She can't look away from him even in the most distracting circumstances and when he reaches out to touch her hair, she's frozen in place as usual. Hypnotized by his smile and beautiful sapphire blue eyes]

Thank you. I really like your yukata. It's almost the same shade of blue as your eyes.

[Oh god. She just can't seem to stop gushing. Maybe that was too much? Sometimes it feels like she wants to stop the world, stop time itself, and just be with him. That's what makes these little moments together so precious to her. Usagi knows he's busy with medical school, so she tries not to pester him. Sometimes certain world-saving events get in the way, of course.]

I'm starving!

[She laughs and reaches out to take his hand in hers. Her small fingers instinctively linking with his as she pulls him in the general direction of where the festival food vendors are.]

Let's eat. I didn't even have time for a snack on my way here.

You shouldn't be stopping to snack on your way to a festival anyway.

[ A touch of amusement creeps into his voice. She makes it sound like such a crime, that it's horrifying she didn't have a pre-food snack. Usagi is so hyper that it's no surprise she eats so much, but the seriousness in her tone is slightly comedic. ]

They're selling foods you won't be able to find until the next festival. It's better if you get full here instead.

I know I've been busy, and we haven't had a chance to see each other as much, so tonight will be on me. [ His hand squeezes hers. ] I'll even win you a prize if you see something you want.

[ Or two or three. ]

[She's only half-listening to him. Already distracted as they stroll past the many food vendors. There's taiyaki, dangos okonomiyaki - so many options to choose from. She really does have a one-track mind sometimes]

They all look so good!

[Especially the dumplings!]

Really? Oh, you're the best Mamo-chan!

[His hand feels so warm against her own, especially without the added barrier of his tuxedo mask gloves. She smiles and turns to throw her arms around him, wrapping him in the gentle warmth of her own body for a moment, entirely forgetting where they are in her excitement.

It's odd, not having to compete for his attention with Chibiusa. In fact, being alone with Mamoru at all is something she's still getting used to. She might even miss that annoying little brat that will someday become their daughter]

Let's play some games after we eat. Oh! I think some of the Scouts are coming later for the fireworks.

[ Instinctively, Mamoru returns the embrace before remembering where they are. It's embarrassing, though not because of her but for the many looks they're now getting. Some come from the older generation, who's still unused to public displays of affection. Some are from jealous parties. ]

That's probably a good way to walk off some of the food, but we should save this part until we can find a more secluded place to watch the fireworks.

[ Pulling back slightly, Mamoru allows for a hand to stay on her waist for a moment before taking her hand again, a concession to some contact. ]

Do you see a prize you want?

[It's not that Usagi needs to have any sort of physical contact with him. She's not even conscious of the fact that her hand was already reaching for his when he took hers. It's just nice. Comforting to have him near when they're usually so far apart throughout the day. He's always been her safety net, instilling confidence in her even when she feels like a total failure

That one!

[They stop at one of the game stands and she points to literally the most adorable stuffed animal. It's not the biggest one that someone can win, but it's not exactly one of the small prizes either. Pink and glittery, and fluffy looking. It's really not even the prize that matters. Just walking around with something he won for her feels like a thrill to her]

It's so cute! Don't you think so, Mamoru?

[ If it was only about want, he'd never stop holding her hand. Mamoru loves Usagi, wholly and without reservation in his heart. She's beautiful, and he's sure any man would be thrilled to be in his place. Even as he's the one to maintain "appropriate" distance, there's not a moment when he's thankful for the blessing he has in her. ]

It does seem like something you'd like. A ring toss, hm?

[ Stepping up, he passes along his currency and grabs the rings. His aim is good so he isn't worried, and Usagi didn't even request the hardest prize. That's why, a moment later, he's pointing to the requested animal after his throw hits his arm. Knowing who the prize is really for, the man running the game passes it over. ]
