The Dragon's Bride

Flames, then ash. Your village will be left with little else should the dragon that plagues the countryside not get his demanded sacrifice...if you're lucky. Your good fortune turns south, the bones of your neighbors (or whatever else remains of them) litter a new charred graveyard that was once a town. So, the necessary offers must be made. At least that's the hope. The alternative would be too awful to contemplate. In a last-ditch effort to save those you love — or against your will, as these things tend to go with forcibly created martyrs — you have been hoisted onto the pyre, waiting for the dragon to fly off with you. What terrors race through your mind as your doom impends? How you'll end up in a beast's belly, no doubt. Except, you must consider this: there are worst fates than being a dragon's next meal. A monster that covets you as its treasure...a new type of danger unfurls its wings. You've become a dragon's bride. But could such an infernal creature ever learn to know honest, unselfish affection? Is it possible to be more than a "spouse?" A mere treasure? Perhaps, you could learn to be a dragon's love. HOW TO PLAY ✗ Comment with your character, roles ("dragon" or "bride") prefs, etc. ✗ Y'all know how this goes. Approach "dragon" as a stand-in. The monster mash could be elves, orcs, goblins, werewolves, demons, dwarves, fey, purple people eaters, what have you. Of course, actual dragon and shifters folks are welcome, too! And don't think that you have to make your boring human a boring ol' human. Consider this the monster/supernatural being/cryptid/creature AU of your dreams! ✗ Second verse, same as the first, "bride" registers as gender-neutral 'round these parts. That word choice just sounds a touch more poetic. ✗ Reply to others.

At the moment, she's trembling, but it's hardly from fear -- being afraid would be the best case scenario here for both of them. No, no, Ann's not fearful in the slightest; as a matter of fact, she's already plotting revenge even now, in the lair of the great dragon.

She'll make sure that village pays for messing with her, and she's also going to make damn sure this stupid dragon knows exactly what he's dealing with here. Granted, she already knows that she hardly stands a chance against him, but is it going to stop her? Hell no. Her temper has been pushed to the brink, and right now she's flying high on a mix of adrenaline and pure fucking rage.

[He is dressed in red when he is left before the dragon's lair. A long veil hides his features and there is a sword sheathed at his waist, ready to be drawn. He is prepared to put an end to the beast's reign. Zhou Zishu has accepted that he might die for that cause and so he waits, his breathing shallow in anticipation.]

[ The dragon can smell him from inside his lair. There's a sweet scent to the other and he raises a brow. So, when he does walk out it's in his human skin with his fan in hand, watching the man before him. Not a word is said, for the moment, but he does let his eyes take the bride in. ]

[Though he should play the part of humble, frightened bride, Zishu stares through the veil, his eyes sharp. The moment the dragon reveals himself - there can be no doubt that's him - he cuts through the veil with his sword, revealing himself to be far more than a simple sacrifice.]

[ The dragon seems mildly amused at the theatrics. Humans were so interesting sometimes. When they weren't trying to kill him and those he protected. So, the moment the veil is cut away, he smiles. Everything about the dragon, for the moment, screams normal. ]

[ Whether he's being serious or not is a whole other story. ]

[He ignores the praise, knowing this dragon has a silver tongue. Instead he points his sword at him, expression set and stubborn.]
