[A Grail War would bring no shortage of enemies, and Hei had plenty of those already. Now with the war seemingly over, the grail destroyed through his efforts....well many Servants were free to do whatever they wanted. Many masters were also super pissed off at seeing their all-powerful demi-gods just suddenly go away, along with missing the chance to get their hearts desire.
The mage association took both he and Saber in, though it was more like imprisonment. Hei couldn't really leave, and one step outside just meant instant death with how many wanted him dead. Inside wasn't terrible. He got a job, nice stable home, and a mostly normal life as he taught some self-defense classes.
The issue, well...he tended to wonder if his Servant was mad at him. Or taking her job even more seriously to the point he felt more uneasy. She had been hard to read lately. As they were walking to the car, he wide-eyed her.]

[Can do the guarding, especially if you'd rather I play him with his main external conflict as resolved (being pursued and therefore needing guarding, himself.) Otherwise, he's the guarded, but you can bet that he'll insist on helping... be guarded. By involving himself in some way to help better his odds and his partner.]

[Exorcists and those who are equipped to deal with evil spirits are in no short supply in Liyue, and any who are able to lend their skills to helping protect the people are greatly accepted in the the lands of the Geo Archon. Most would rely upon those skilled in martial arts or thaumaturgy like the exorcists, or perhaps one who possessed a Vision. But sometimes, evil spirits required the skill of one who possessed a magic power unique to anything like Visions or exorcism skills. And that's where those like the Inumaki clan came in.]
[The Inumaki clan was an Inazuma-based clan that was well-known for their unusual exorcism techniques. As for what those techniques were, it was a closely-guarded secret; very little was known of them, other than their magic was "nothing like thaumaturgy" and that no known member held a Vision. The reclusive clan often kept to its own business, purifying the lands within their own borders, but on rare occasions could be tempted to assist with foreign affairs for the right price. And when they did, they would contact a local warrior clan to help protect whoever they sent over to help deal with the problem spirit. So when the Inumaki clan's heir is sent to Liyue, the Guhua clan had graciously accepted the offer to protect the heir as he performed his duties, not only to assist the Inumakis but also to learn more about their strange, unfamiliar magics.]
[The Inumaki heir, by all intents and purposes, doesn't look like much. A short and lean figure with a quiet disposition, dressed in robes that were elegant, but not overly flashy. His custom cloak had a wide-brimmed collar that was constantly pulled up over his face like a mask, but despite his odd appearance he appeared polite and respectful to the entourage that greeted him at the Liyue harbour docks. He himself didn't speak, leaving his retainer to speak to the guards who would accompany him out into the spirit's domain.]
[Or... well, guard, it seemed. The only one here to accompany him was one lone swordsman apprenticed from some ancient clan. It seems a little light, but Toge figures his family had reasons for outfitting him with such little protection. It was easier to buy off the silence of one man than several, after all. And it's not like he couldn't protect himself if he needs to. So Toge remains quiet as his retainer completes the transaction and explain the "necessities" that Toge would have. The young master was required to eliminate the evil spirit, and the guard was required to ensure that he was guided safely throughout Liyue. The young master's speech was limited, and so the guard would be required to speak on the young master's behalf. Speaking to the young master was unnecessary. Half payment would be given now, and half upon the young master's safe return. All relatively standard agreements by the Inumaki clan for any of its members travelling abroad, especially those who harboured the family's magic.]
[Once the transaction is complete and his retainer has returned to the ship, Inumaki is left in the care of his new guard. Just as before when his retainer was speaking, Inumaki remains quiet, save to point out a few supplies he might need before heading out. [ good with playing either side of it! she is technically from a royal house, after all, aside from all the potential enemies of her family. she's also more than capable of dispatching threats through various means (and her possessive streak means she'd be very keen on protecting anyone she cared about). could also easily do something with her "stuck" on another world, which could merit protection because of her abilities and/or her unfamiliarity with that world - or because she's lost her abilities but still acts the same and takes similar risks out of habit.
open to sticking to in-verse settings (whether doing canon divergence or full-on AUs), more of a high fantasy thing, or even going modern. she also has a movieverse/Legends AU that kinda borrows from Jacen's arc wherein she becomes the Queen Mother of Hapes through arranged marriage to the prince, if you want your fantasy and sci-fi together!
