It happens to everyone - sometimes, you have nights where you just can't fall asleep, no matter what you do. It could be for a number of reasons, or no reason at all. And this is what's happened now: you've been laying in bed for what feels like hours, just tossing and turning, and nothing seems to help. So what's left to do? Get out of bed and go wake someone else up, of course. If you're not getting any sleep, then why should they?
i n s t r u c t i o n s • Post with your character (note the name and fandom in the subject). • Other people reply to you by generating a number from 1 to 10. • Have fun!
o p t i o n s 01 • FEAR. Maybe you're hearing strange, indeterminable noises; maybe there's a severe storm happening outside; maybe you watched a scary movie before bed? Whatever the reason, you're terrified and it's keeping you awake. You just want to wake someone else up so they can protect you from the monster in your closet. 02 • HUNGER. Your stomach is growling and it just won't stop. Or perhaps your throat is so dry you could cough up a tumbleweed? Well, you've gone to the kitchen to remedy this and hey, that was a pan that just dropped on the floor. It was loud enough to wake the dead! Oops. 03 • PAIN. Your body is completely worn out, be it from exercise, battle, sickness, or what have you. Either way you're in enough pain to keep you from sleeping, so maybe someone else has a home remedy or something, or can at least help you take your mind off of it. 04 • SOLITUDE. For some reason, your bed just feels so empty at the moment. You're feeling terribly lonely and really just want someone to keep you company for a while. Maybe it'd be easier to fall asleep if you're with them... 05 • DISCOMFORT. Your room is an oven. Either that or a freezer. Or maybe this bed is just really uncomfortable? Who knows why you can't get to sleep, it feels like it could be anything. Why even bother trying? Maybe someone else can preoccupy you until you feel tired enough to ignore your discomfort. 06 • PENSIVE. Something's on your mind, and no matter how hard you try to focus elsewhere, it's just not going to work. Your body may be tired, but your mind is incredibly busy and it's virtually impossible to get to sleep. Surely, talking it out with someone else will help? 07 • SADNESS. Something terrible has happened that day, perhaps; or you could just be severely depressed. Either way you're trying your hardest not to cry yourself to sleep, and it's not working at all. Better find a way to get it out of your system somehow; you need a shoulder to cry on. 08 • ANGER. You are just... fuming. Who knows why - that annoying dog is barking again, or maybe the people next door are getting busy and keeping you awake. Whatever the reason for your ire is, you'd better put an end to it so you can get some damn rest already! Go wake up a friend so you can complain to them. 09 • RESTLESS. You're far too energetic to sleep right now. Maybe you're just trying to do so out of necessity - you have to be up early tomorrow! But you just don't think you'll be able to fall asleep for a while now, so why waste the time trying to sleep when you could be doing something else? Namely bothering someone else - you're totally jealous because they're getting more sleep than you. 10 • WILDCARD. Choose one of the options above, or make up your own scenario. |

[ Everything feels as if if it's been non-stop insanity since Duelist Kingdom. It's amazing he's had time to even sleep, let alone focus on his studies for school.. or anything for that matter. Maybe that's why he's up so late, sitting outside on one of the bus benches. There's no intention of getting on a bus or really going anywhere.
Just... sitting outside, enjoying the night sky, and taking a moment to think. The ancient spirit he shares a body doesn't seem to have noticed that Yugi is still awake. It's unusual, but, sometimes the two of them need time to themselves. There's been invisible boundaries drawn up and silent understandings. That is, once they both realized the ancient spirit was someone else entirely.
Yugi sighs and tilts his head back to rest his head against the glass. ]

07 Sadness it is! - Sorry it's so long
Consumed by her thoughts she recalled the brief episode at the hospital when her frustration and fear did her intellect a disservice. Rebecca had nearly been in hysterics when she'd gotten there, after having received the ominous call of her grandpa being admitted. On top of that she was only able to visit with him a short while in which he never once gained consciousness. The doctor had tried to explain it to her as if she was an idiot, or.. well her age, which hadn't made the ordeal any easier.
What she had shouted at the MD still rang in her mind. "You're wrong! It can't be, it can't be!". Eventually she had fled the facility running from everything she didn't want to accept. Now that she had calmed down she felt hollow. Her grandpa was everything to her. What if he didn't recover? What if the medical staff was right? Somehow and completely unwittingly she ended up standing in front of the Mutou Game Shop. She peered up at it as if she didn't exist in the same dimension as it, and if she blinked it would phase out of focus and morph into another part of the city]
Yugi... [Said without her usual adoration, her voice sounding foreign to her. Weak.]
Yugi! [Her eyes lit up at the repetition. Yes, Yugi would know what to do about this! This had to be something supernatural not a legitimate condition. The flare of hoped burned dim within her, overall she remained pensive. Still.. she looked for some gravel to start chucking at windows. Guessing which one was his however...]
don't worry, i love long tags :)
Memories for the spirit inside the Millennium Puzzle. The fact that eventually they would all graduate and go their separate ways. What would he do then? Especially if the spirit that might as well be his other half would leave too. He never really pondered it all. Things had been a whirlwind adventure after another. One he hoped that would never stop, but, would inevitably anyways.
Yugi walked around the corner to return to his grandfather's shop. He stood there, blinking, watching as the familiar face threw rocks at the windows. What if she broke one? He can't help but smile. Rebecca always did throw herself in head first into things. ]
Rebecca?
Good thing! Sorry, my schedule is what it is u.u;
Taking in a deep breath, she turned towards Yugi, and tried to laugh it off as nothing, but there was insincerity in the ruse]
Oh- There you are Yugi!
[For once she didn't immediately launch herself at him, which should have been telling in it's own way. Green eyes looked at him silently pleading him to just know what was up without her having to try and voice it. When that didn't happen she hurried over and threw her arms around him, nuzzling into his cheek.]
no worries! i back tag a ton and only really move on if i feel people wanna drop the thread :)
You're very kind and patient!
i just like writing stories /sob
hi partner, how about a late night talk? you're awake, right?
But that isn't stopping him from worrying about the next time a threat like the one that arose during the tournament returns. Will he be able to keep evil at bay and keep his friends and innocents safe? He can't help but look back on recent events and feel as though he failed in what might not be his official charge but still is his duty as a friend and a partner. He let his friends down and let the likes of Marik hurt them.
Without realizing it, he clenches his fists and abruptly stands up from where he was sitting beside Yugi's bed.
Yugi... He's asleep, of course, because the hour is late, and it would be selfish to wake him now. The tournament has been hard on him, perhaps even harder than it has been for Atem, so of course he should just let him sleep. But he's moved over just so that he's standing over Yugi's bed, deciding if he should go with the selfish option (again) and wake his partner up.
He feels as though his actions have been too selfish and self-serving lately, so part of him is warning against thinking only of himself and disturbing Yugi's sleep. It isn't his place to put himself first, after all.
But in spite of that, he finds himself reaching out to Yugi with a hesitating hand, and placing it on his shoulder. If Yugi wakes up, then that's fine. If not, he'll just continue his silent vigil alone with his thoughts. ]
other me!! /spins/ awake now thanks bro
veers right into psl territory, hi readersThe Battle City Tournament had been more difficult than Yugi wanted to admit to his friends. Duelist Kingdom had pushed them far enough already; Shadow Games, the Millennium Items, even learning the other him was actually someone else entirely. Yugi thought maybe things would quiet down, but then all of this happened. Not that he minded in hindsight. Atem had given them so much that Yugi felt he was owed some part of his past--even if it would be fleeting brief memories.
Even if he worried that, in the end, getting Atem's memories would mean that he'd leave them forever.
The Pharaoh seems to have rolling luck as Yugi isn't sleeping very heavily. There's too much on his mind to really sleep. Atem has the God cards now, the Tomb Keepers have a brighter future, and the two of them share the title of Duel King. They have a new allies that they didn't expect in the form of Luna. That doesn't begin to cover other smaller details of life. After this summer he'll be a third year and graduating soon after that. What is he going to do after school? What kind of life will the other him want to live as things change for them? It all rolls over and over in his head until he feels the familiar presence of the older spirit.
Yugi opens his eyes and looks over his shoulder at Atem. He sits up, rubbing at one of them with the palm of his hand. He almost asks the obvious question of 'You're awake?', but manages to hold it back. ]
Other Me?
you're welcome.... sorry for the interruption
hello there readers...Atem would be lying if he said he hasn't been worrying about Yugi and his well-being in the aftermath of the tournament. Not only was he put through the stress of participating in several high-stakes duels, but he also watched his friends go through terrible trials and he even sustained a blow from the god Ra himself.
This is the main reason why he wants to make sure that his friend and partner, the one person who quite possibly means more to him than anyone ever has or ever will, is faring as well as possible. Even if it means waking him up, he wishes to ask him that.
As he watches, he sees signs of Yugi beginning to awaken, and he steps back from the bed, a slightly concerned expression falling into place. ]
I'm sorry for disturbing you, Yugi. This won't take long, I promise.
[ He can't, in all good conscience, keep his friend awake longer than he needs to. ]
never an interruption stop that
Yes, technically, he's a ghost. He doesn't need the room to sit down. That doesn't really matter to Yugi. Atem is as real as anyone else in his life. ]
What's wrong? [ There's a bit of a tired smile on his face. ] Usually you pace around the labyrinth... not the bedroom.
[ Was the other him pacing around before he woke Yugi up? Yugi has no real idea. ]
It's fine, really. You can talk to me whenever you need to.
oh all right, it's only sometimes an interruption... because you need your sleep, mister
Oh, I've done my share of that too, Yugi, and usually it helps clear my thoughts.
[ Not tonight, however. Tonight, his worries are proving considerably more stubborn than they have in the past. ]
I only wanted to ask you how you are doing, after everything that happened at Battle City.
did you just dad tone me :(
