Run Away Together Shipping Meme

The two of you have decided to run away together. Bottom line, you've come up with that plan and you've worked up the guts and the means to do it. The most obvious source of a desire to leave together is a romance you can't have until you're gone from this place. It's like all the eloping that happened in those epics of old. How charmingly beautiful! How romantic! Who says the old ways have gone out of style?

But other reasoning behind the decision could be from the serious - you both want to escape imprisonment, an oppressive atmosphere, or a miserable destiny - to the more lighthearted. Maybe an adventure is just what you need, where you'll finally get to see the world...and, slowly, fall in love. Because that's what the crux of all this is: even if the escape started out as mere convenience, you both want to stay close and work together. In the end, when you've finally run where you want to be and the danger, if any, has passed, you may find you don't want to go your separate ways.

[ even though his voice remains cool and disaffected, there's a hint of teasing humour in there. ]

[Although there's a bit of uncertainty too, isn't there? What may be waiting for them in the future, what may come next...

[ isaac pauses to turn around, eyeing hector inscrutably. ]

[He meets that gaze steadily, lips twitching up slightly at the corners.]

Do you find it uncomfortable to take agency in your story?

[He's quiet for a moment, considering the question. Answering a question with a question won't do, will it?]

... A bit, if you want the honest answer. It's new. All of this is new.

[ a low chuckle. ]

No. Not from you.

[ which may be a touch derisive. isaac's become mouthy of late. but he offers an accepting nod. ]

It took me a long time to accept the road ahead of me.

Not from me. Should I feel insulted?

[There's enough humor in his tone to show he isn't entirely offended though. More curious about the changes he's seen in Isaac. He'd like to see more.]

I've made it this far... I suppose it would be a pity to give up now.

[ though it would be strange from hector. in his opinion, the other forgemaster rarely had the good sense to give into fear or anger. unless isaac. ]

[The smile lengthens just a bit on his lips, his eyes lingering on Isaac.]

I would rather look at you. [For the moment, at least.] You've changed. I'm trying to decide if it's inspiring... and how much.

[ isaac seems to smile as that. it seems like a mirage, strangely real but when you blink, it vanishes. ]

"King Isaac" has a nice ring to it. And I have a few in mind.

But I am prioritising myself first.

[He gives an accepting nod at that response.]

Perhaps... that isn't a bad thing for either of us to prioritize at the moment.

No. We have been slaves for so long.

I do not think life would begrudge us this.

It feels as if you have started that journey already. You have quite a head start.

[For all of his contingencies, all his carefully laid plans and traps, Hector wonders if he can say the same for himself.

With Lenore gone, he feels even more at a loss for where to go or what would satisfy him.]
