Do you want to be the very best, like no one ever was? Well, what do you even want to be the best at? There's so much to do in the beautiful Pokémon world... where do you begin? Which Pokémon world do you begin in?

RULES:

◓Tag the post with your character, defining what they are. Use RNG or select what you like. (It is okay to select several options for anyone replying to chose, simply clarify in your comment)

My first thoughts are something along the lines of a region in which he is developing a Pokémon league, but in reality, it's a front for his criminal activities and an excellent way to recruit people with potential. Probably looking for an ancient Legendary sleeping away as they do. ]

Starscream is, obviously, a human in this AU. He's an Admin for the villainous Team Deception. The team's ultimate goal involves reviving an ancient legendary steel/dark type Pokémon by the name of Unicron. For reasons. None of them good probably. Starscream is a Flying type specialist whose team consists of Hawlucha, Skarmory, Pidgeot, Xatu, and his ace Talonflame (less and/or pre evolutions for previous fights) His final fight he is faced with a Galarian Moltres, the other two of the Legendary trio are held by other members of Team Deception and are a necessary element for reviving Unicron. ]

(ooc: Usa Tsukino is an up and coming trainer with a checkered past which could optionally include a brief association with Team Rocket. She focuses on fairy and normal types, and she's interested in learning more about poison types. While her main focus has been mostly travel for the sake of seeing and experiencing new things, she has recently turned her attention toward becoming a coordinator. She's not a top tier battler but she can hold her own. Delcatty is her most commonly used pokemon, with sylveon in a close second.)

[Ben is a gloomy and standoffish but powerful trainer who recently left a villainous team and has a fairly extensive criminal record before defection as one of their best enforcers. His team includes his signature Corviknight, a Tyrantrum, a shiny Aegislash, a Hydreigon, and a recently evolved Silvally that he stole on his way out. He keeps to himself for the most part, and isn't trusting of other people.]

[ OBVIOUSLY Piers does not need to be AUed. He's a Pokémon character. But he is a Gym Leader, the leader of Team Yell (lol), and a popular musician in the Galar region. He's here for you to throw your AUed characters at in any capacity. ]

[Any particular scenario ideas?]

Piers flipped idly through some social media feeds on his Rotomphone. Failing to find anything interesting he switched over to a online restaurant review site. He wasn't overly familiar with Hammerlocke outside the League facilities. He supposed he COULD ask Raihan but... well he liked Raihan alright but he tended to be a little MUCH and the reason he was in Hammerlocke Station might not appreciate all the high energy and selfies.

Piers could appear aloof and standoffish, but he was the sort that when someone needed help well... he'd never admit to being a bleeding heart big softy, but he was. So when his Uncle Grimsley called him up and mentioned a distant relative of his, a third and something something twice removed cousin or something, was looking for somewhere to get a fresh start... Well Piers wasn't sure all the details but it only took a moment or two for him to agree. He thought he remember this Ben guy from some family reunion years and years ago.

Arrangements had been made, things moved along quickly, and here he was. Day of. Waiting on the Platform of Hammerlocke station.

Ben wasn't exactly one for selfies. He was glad that someone in Galar would hear his case. His background was shady and his reputation earned.

He doesn't have any of his Pokemon with him - none of his party were what could be considered cuddly, and one was a stolen lab experiment whose presence was kept quiet. Corviknight and Hydreigon were too large to ride a train without causing a scare.

Piers was a Dark-type trainer, right? Maybe he'd like Hydreigon. The dragon Pokemon wasn't as vicious as it looked. Hydreigon were a misunderstood species, he felt, often the victims of bad trainers who wanted a monster and trained one.

He waved when he saw the Galarian contact.

[open to most anything apart from nuzlocke, but tossing out general ideas:]

[regular pokeverse au- leader of valerian town, a settlement being constructed in the middle of heck-off nowhere. likely populated by people either displaced by or looking to relocate from the usual apocalyptic chicanery of your average pokemon endgame. team rocket/flare/plasma/what have you has no presence there, because if any of them try they are harshly thrown out by his talonflame. trying to get an unofficial gym started, but his team has no typing theme so good luck with that. uses talonflame, gallade, salamence, doublade, and lucario. definitely trying too hard. rumor has it he has a brother that's a popular and successful trainer elsewhere, but he either denies it or ignores the idea.]

[ranger - way too serious high ranking ranger. super pain in the ass, zero tolerance for screwing up and even less tolerance for poachers. it's been a while since i played those games tbh but captain chaotic good has no patience for bullshit in his jurisdiction.]

[straight up pokemon au - canon-adjacent somehow or other but partnered with a gallade to match his brother's gardevoir or something similar, if any castmates should want to bat that idea around]

Elite Four[ Spoilers ]
Makes sense as an ultimate, and gamer at that. She often travels around the world helping other trainers. Rather unexpectedly because the 'Elite Four' is Usami who is controlled by / working along with Chiaki. It's said the Elite Four doesn't like attention and in order to avoid it, utilizes her 'sister' to replace her in name and face only. Leaving Chiaki free to play games undisturbed and or meeting people while making friends. This helps a lot because she is more comfortable behind the scenes helping other, and the idea of being pressured as an elite four with a face across the world.

Ultimately in this AU, you would meet her as just a regular trainer. Thinking nothing of it, but you would soon start to realize she is very adept at 'Pokemon battles.' So many you begin to think something is weird or strange.

Professor
With a love for Pokemon, and a once past of being an Elite Four. Chiaki returns to her true calling she realizes as a professor! She helps create a game simulator that helps trainers prepare for arduous battle - basically testing out match ups before putting their Pokemon out against something they are not ready for. The system was actually her Fathers and Brothers doing, and she is the one that bug tests it because she is an adept gamer! Think the... Pokemon X & Y training game but more actually like... Vitrual Reality!

Mystery Dungeon [ Implied spoilers ]
Pokemon of Choice! She really wants to go with you and believes in you the most!! Adventures!! With friends!!

Up for anything! just hit me with an idea if at all.]

( trainer dedicated to gathering all of the gym badges available. her main pokemon partner is a buneary. )

( breeder with an affinity for pikachus and pichus. )

( trainer who will challenge anyone and everyone to a battle. losing a battle results in a punishment... so accept if you dare. )

[One of those side NPCs in every single main line Pokemon game that has one or two companion mons and will dispense some advice and maybe a TM that's highly situational. If you meet him, he'll have a Chatot nesting in his hair, a Whismur hanging around at his knee, and an Audino on standby for comfort.]

[One of those side NPCs meets one of those pokemon prof's aides/research interns who's overworked and underpaid. All Sajo's expertise and knowledge is primarily taken from textbooks and his 'field' experience is...lacking in part due to a weak constitution. Also, have you seen those scary trainers...they'd beat him up and take his money and all his potions.

What do you think? Any particular preferences for setup or otherwise?]

[Which means he'll just have to come along and help clean up after one of those whirlwind trainers talked them into a battle. Perhaps they did the duo battle thing because they just happened to be in the same area at the same time.

I don't have many preferences. If you have any ideas I can roll with them.]

[ Rihito wants to run for the hills from the trainers trying to heckle him into combat. Or maybe it's a run-in with team rocket grunts? Maybe he was studying or delivering something to someone in the same area as Hikaru or was supposed to meet Hikaru and got stalled? Double battle sounds awesome!

An aside but how adorable is little!Hikaru and little!Rihito starting out on their pokemon journey together and getting a pokedex and their starter. ;u; ]

[Ugh that's so cute, tiny boys having a research adventure.

Oh oh what if Rihito is setting out to start his pokedex and he's had a few battles already that have kicked his butt and he's expecting the same from Hikaru until Hikaru offers to heal up his mons and make sure he's ok, teach him a healing move, generally try and keep him alive and cheering him on.]

[Little trainers and their lvl. 5 mons battling it out and going on a little research adventure date. Maybe they follow up on a rumor they've always heard or something. Rihito being absolutely terrified of zubat in caves or swarms of beedrill or an angry flocks of spearow.

Oh! That is so achingly adorable. Rihito would silently beg to stay in the lab instead of being in the wilds. Probably clutching his poor knocked out pokemon when he happens upon Hikaru and he's probably worse for wear and roughed up by the last few trainers/battles.

On another, completely unrelated note, Rihito trying to teach a Jigglypuff to sing and failing until Hikaru walks in and takes over teaching. Cue them both dozing away with angry marker squiggles on their faces. ]

[Meanwhile Hikaru attracting all manner of mon and just kind of accepting it. Plays music for a small flock of pidgey and makes friends with Rihito's starter by way of treats.

Hikaru would definitely convince him to investigate a legend or rumour. And then convince him to maybe come home with him and meet his family.

This is all wonderful. Would you like to set the scene or shall I?]

[Rihito would be trying to dodge or avoid most of the attracted mons and wonder if it's his curse. Hikaru and Rihito's starter making friends is wonderful. I bet they'd be besties and Rihito thinks his starter likes Hikaru better.

Rihito would counter-argue he could read about it and do research in the safety of the lab. He would be completely beside himself with anxiety but love to accompany him home and meet his family.

This is great. Would you mind starting?]

[The weather had been terrible just lately, so the break in the clouds letting the sunshine through made both people and their companion pokemon come out in droves. It made those out in public battles more common, on the paths leading into and out of major cities.

Hikaru camps out at the fountain that marks the entrance to the city with his own, just keeping an eye out on the path and spectating from afar the nonsense on the path. Kids his age or older than him itching for battles stopping anyone with a set of balls at their hip jumping the gun and making sure to fuss and bully people out of their money, as is standard practice around here, mean that he doesn't care to just walk around out there without good reason. So here he sits, long legs crossed in front of him as he lounges and waits for the meager displays of power to subside once again.

He doesn't like the smug look on the kid's face that's counting his "winnings" as he walks away from some guy that he's never seen around here before. Harried and trying to keep himself together, the guy looks like he's been assaulted at every turn since the sun came out. It makes Hikaru frown softly as he stands, whistling a quick tune that's responded to in seconds by a small bird-type that's perched itself on top of his head, the pair of them walking down the steps leading out into the short-cropped grass where, for all intents and purposes, he too might look like he's looking for a fight.

At least, until he stops several feet away, one hand up as a greeting.]

You lost?

[ His partnership with his starter is days old; his pokedex shines a blank slate, and his bag is stretched at the seams with empty capsules. Between contending with fanged zubat leeching the life from him in that cave, a riled red gyarados draining half a lake, and the onslaught of trainers on this path; it was made amply clear he was not a textbook case. Arceus, 'field experience' be damned.

Barely any time for the aftermath to fade, there's exhaustion deep in him now, scarce on coin and antidotes, the path had pared him right to the grain of his heart. There's a layered shade of dread behind the glint of his wire-thin frames upon the boy's approach, hovering sharp like a noontime shadow. Rihito's features works well enough as his eevee's reflection; battered and scored from the prior trauma the path incurred, it shivers away in the close embrace of his arms. ]

Please...I-I can't battle...anymore. I'll pay, so let me--. Lost?

[ His tone shakes like his body, stepping ahead, all too ready to find no ground beneath him. ]

[His expression twists subtly as he approaches, though his gaze drops. It's clear a few moments later what he's doing when he stops digging into one of his pockets, as he shakes a crumpled bag out and open and fishes inside for a small treat stamped with the symbol on every Center. He holds it flat in his palm for the battered, shivering eevee to take, patiently waiting until it's been tentatively crunched and the poor thing perks up just the slightest bit. If he had a potion on him he'd offer it, but he'd left his things at home for the time being.]

You look new to the area. [It's all he says by way of explanation. He glances up from beneath the fringe in his eyes at the movement of a chatot peeking out and whistling a little tune out of curiosity.]

We don't fight unless we have to. You look like you're about to drop dead as it is anyway.

[ His approach has little bearing on his discontent, but it doesn't bear overthinking, so instead Rihito tenses, holds his plea out like a shield and braces for a fight that doesn't come. He stares: half-expectant, stiff as he watches limbs rifle through clothes as the boy tracks closer -- in search for a treat. The eevee stirs quietly to accept his offering, the tip of its muzzle searching for the scent as it nibbles and consumes the gift and then settles back, fatigued. ]

T-thank you. [ The low whistle of birdsong has his eyes hunting for the chatot perched in the silky mess of blonde that comes level with his periphery. His voice fades in with the breeze; he doubts it makes much of an impact. ] Guess you could say that. New to a lot of this...

Do you know where the nearest-- [ The lithe pitch of his shoulders fall into relieved slopes and he takes another skeptical step forward. Gaze falls to the ground, and so too, does the rest of him. ]

[He'd been offering a treat to his jealous little songbird when it started to pull on his hair for attention, and nearly missed when the other boy collapsed. He drops the bag and quickly dips to wrap his arms around the other's middle to haul him back upright. He glances around, then back to his belongings, hefting Rihito up a bit and sidling back until they could both take a seat. He tilts his head and puts the back of his hand against the other's forehead, hoping it was just exhaustion that made his dumb commentary a reality.]

[ The boy's features break from repose to resignation as he's slow to start, nestled like a folded quilt in the blond's grip until he accommodates the pair of them to sit. Bone-tired, Rihito inelegantly leans into Hikaru with the weight of sleep - it only takes a moment for his head to find a shoulder. The glance he flashes the other is soft; betrays the dark rings under his eyes camouflaged by the cast of his lenses, the drowsy color of his skin. There's a faint heat bristling the back of his hand and enough sun to render his mental acuity clumsy. ]

I'm sorry.

[The apology doesn't make sense to him; after all, the other hadn't done anything wrong. But maybe he was just sorry for the inconvenience, which wasn't even all that much of a problem from where Hikaru sees it. The blonde keeps an arm around his back and helps him to sit up as he seems to doze in place.]

This isn't really the place to sleep. Do you have somewhere to stay here?

[ He mentions with detached clarity. Rihito hadn't meant to burden the blonde - not with a day's worth of inconvenience. The eevee parallels its trainer in slumber; nestled away in a far corner of Rihito's frame that now sags upright, head nods forward so his glasses drag down his face with every word incoming. ]

[Like Piers up there, Raihan is already part of the Pokemon universe, so no need to AU him! He's a Gym Leader from Galar and is, in fact, the strongest and last one to face in the circuit. He has a unique fighting style in that although he has dragon-type Pokemon and is widely known as The Tamer of Dragons, he mainly specializes in weather tactics and double-battles, even having Pokemon that aren't dragons at all.

Outside of battling, Raihan is an influencer who has a massive following online, and he posts lots and LOTS of selfies of himself doing whatever and tends to stream his battles and training regime. Also, being the Gym Leader of Hammerlocke, he guards the vault, a place that holds relics and artifacts of Galar's history. If one wants to enter the vault, they'll have to ask permission from Raihan and deal with him hovering around to ensure no one does anything.

He's here to throw your character against, or we can come up with some other kind of AU!]

[Most commonly seen accompanied by a Mimikyu. Doesn't really battle unless others ask them first, and even then they seem more interested talking about Pokemon and philosophy than battling sometimes.]

Whether it's through her skill at battling, her performances in contests, or the fact that she's even started appearing on the silver screen, she's a name that's probably been tossed around a bit. Besides that, also up for a Mystery Dungeon AU! In which she's a Sylveon. ]
