THE KILLER vs. COP (optionally AU) MEME


WARNING for violence, murder, triggering content.

HOW TO PLAY
- Make a note of what your character is in this AU, whether killer or cop, and what roles within those you could see them assuming.
- Let anyone know your limits!
- Tag around, pick a scenario, and go for it.

THE PLAYERS
TYPE OF KILLER
1) Assassin. You're either an assassin for hire, a professional in the arts of killing, or a politically motivated murder.
2) Serial killer. Pathologically driven with a need to trap and kill their victims.
3) Necessity. You're not a bad person! It's just that whoever your victim was had to die. In order for you to survive, or keep what's valuable to you. Could have been self-defense.
4) Passion. You were just so angry... you didn't mean to, you just loved them so much.
5) Soldier. You consider yourself fighting a war, whether it's one fought with uniforms and battle lines or one fought in the shadows. War has casualties. It's just a fact of life.
6) Accidental. They just appeared in front of your car! You couldn't hit the brakes in time.
7) Other.

TYPE OF COP
1) Local. Just a uniform working the beat, and you think you might finally have the magic case to get you up to detective.
2) Detective. Just another case in a long line of 'em.
3) Federal. FBI, or U.S. Marshal, Secret Service -- whatever the initials, you're part of your nation's law enforcement. Elite, and called in only on the most important cases.
4) Tech. Crime scene tech, or analyst. You're not technically a cop, but you're part of the case anyway.
5) Prosecutor/lawyer. Time to throw the book at the latest murderer.
6) Other.

SITUATIONS
1) Crime scene. Time to figure out the killer's MO. Just be careful the killer's not still lurking around...
2) Who, me? You don't even know it, but the killer's someone you know. Might be your partner, or your lover, or just someone you ran into. And if you're the killer, what better way to get the status of the investigation than to ask the officer?
3) Interrogation. Both of you know what really happened. But can the cop get a confession out of the killer before it's too late?
4) The arrest. Slap on the cuffs. It's a long ride to the station; conversation, anyone?
5) The chase. You have a name, and you need to find and stop them before they strike again.
6) Jailtime visits. Funny, isn't it? That killer in jail understands you, the cop, better than anyone else in your life. It's almost like you're friends.
7) Escape. Someone's out of jail...
8) Death row. Any last thoughts?
9) Trial. What's the verdict? What's the defense? And, if you get a 'not guilty', what happens next?
10) Turning the tables. The hunter becomes the hunted, and the killer's taken the cop hostage. Better hope someone's coming to rescue you.
11) Other.

He was lurking around after the scene-something he normally wouldn't do, but this time was different. He wanted to see what those policemen thought of him, what they thought of his handiwork.]

[People said things about this one's 'victims.' That they were bad people, that there was some sort of link between them, as though they'd been some kind of cabal that were being taken out one by one. Whatever the case may be, however, it didn't matter to John Casey. He had orders to follow, and the growling hulk of a man always followed orders. Life would descend into anarchy if he didn't, and then what?

He'd only been called onto the case after she escaped. Hell, there were entire SWAT teams on the lookout. But it was Casey that came creeping like a cat in military-grade boots into the temporary hideout she'd found for herself, nosing carefully around corners with his SIG Sauer handgun held in front of him after breaking and entering with all due haste. He didn't know whether she knew of his presence yet or not, but cautiously assumed so; all he really knew was that backup was over twenty minutes away, and that could be twenty minutes too late. But she didn't know that.]

Not exactly a model prisoner: Blonsky tended to get into fights with just about everybody in the jail, one of the reasons for his extended stay. He had a temper. Unsurprisingly, his defense of 'the guy made me angry' didn't really hold up in court. What he wasn't expecting was for Detective Banner to want to talk to him.

Two guards escorted a very confused and hand-cuffed Blonsky into the interregation room. He looked over Detective Banner, frown on his face, as he tried to work out just what the hell was going on.]

[ if we wanna go humanized anyway, let's say it's a diner where she works. graveyard shift, it's her third job. she put her baby brother through the academy, among other things. single mother with a young daughter, debts crawling up to her ears. fell in with some unsavory types, trying to ease the burden a little.

nasty pieces of work, these guys. old money, high status, but lowlives. when they come calling, you don't say no, but she didn't have anything to pay them back with. maybe the guy had other ideas, maybe she didn't much like 'em. maybe he ended up with a knife through his eyeball.

she seems a bit off today as she pours his coffee. she knows this story, she's read it before. she's seen it on television. she covered her tracks as best she could, but the feeling of inevitability is hard to fight off. she can't go down yet, not like this.

wouldn't do for a cop to have a killer for a sister. but it was all for him, she swears it was all for him. and there it is all over the front page of his paper. ]
