I was thinking about you and wanted to write it down somewhere real and tangible. The feel of paper under your fingers and the smell of ink are special, right? There’s so much that isn’t tangible, which is kind of incredible and weird at the same time. This was something I wanted you to be able to hold and have it be a concrete thing.
Not literal concrete, because the postage on that would be a load of dick and there might be health and safety concerns for the backs of anyone who had to carry it. I’m sorry for not leaning into the opportunity for being alarmingly literal.
( No, she mostly just enjoys being dumb and whimsical, even if it’s just to make Margaery roll her eyes and repress a smile. )
I was thinking about Romanticism. The big R, with the influence over so much stuff, that moved hearts and minds, and still is, a couple centuries later. Imagination and inspiration and influence are all tangled together, right? And that made me think of you, because I reckon if there’s anyone who understands that, it’s you. You’re smart in ways I don’t think most people could ever get their heads around, and sharp and witty. Being clever isn’t the same as being insightful though, or seeing people, and I reckon that might be your super power. You see people, and you can inspire them, and energise them, I reckon.
You can’t be captured or understood with a single painting, I couldn’t begin to find one where the brush strokes and the subject and everything made sense. It isn’t about that. (I thought about a few, but they weren’t right. It didn’t click into place. Also if I said “Liberty Leading the People” I figured you’d ask me if I was trying to get you to get your tits out, and it was painted by a bloke, and the technique just didn’t vibe for you, you know?)
I just wanted you to know.
