Family fun, a weekend retreat, or maybe something a little more... unplanned. SOmetimes it's good to just get away from the distractions of the modern world. Leave the cellphone in the car, disconnect from the digital world and step back into good old Mother Nature.

How To:

1. Post your character's name & canon in the subject line.
2. Others go to RNG, then comment on your post!

Options:

1. Setting Up Camp - Why the hell are there so many pieces to this tent and wait what? no no that's not how you start a fire are you trying to burn the forest down?!
2. Roughing it- Okay there's camping and then there's stranding yourself out in the woods with nothing but a backpack, a piece of flint, and a compass. Or maybe it wasn't you're idea and you're in need of rescuing.
3. Campfire Food- There's nothing like food cooked over a campfire. Or maybe you're content with just stabbing a hotdog with a stick and trying not to get it too burnt?
4. Fireside Tales- Something about being in the woods at night demands spooky stories told by the fire. And maybe you can wrangle someone else into helping you scare the crap out of everyone!
5. Great Outdoors- Sometimes you just have to sit back and enjoy the wonder of being outside where light pollution is minimal, the forest sounds replace the noise of the city, and you can see the stars. Or maybe you just want to complain about all these bugs.
6. Hiking Trails-On foot, on horseback, or on mountain bike, these are the best way to see what there is to see. Just make sure you stay on the path.
7. Plant Identification-No, those berries are totally safe to eat... right? And... hold on... is that poison ivy?
8. The Rich Life-Now this is camping. An RV that costs almost as much as your house, running water, TV, AC... what do you mean that's not really camping?
9. Wildlife Encounters- What was that? Did you just see a fox? Or was that a bear you heard? Or maybe you're looking for something a bit easier to roast like rabbits or fish. Just watch out for snakes.
10. Inclement Weather-How are you supposed to set up a tent when it's pouring? Did you bring enough layers for the chill? Or maybe it's just unseasonably hot and you need to go jump in the river before you pass out.
11. The Unknown- Maybe it was all the scary stories or maybe it's just the unknown sounds that come from the forest at night but you're freaked. Or maybe... Maybe it's a Wendigo.
12. Wild card- Mix and match or make up your own.

Jiang Cheng punched someone.

That was how the entire thing started. He was in his own territory, which was good, but got into a fight with a Lan. The Jiang Clan and the Lan Clan never had any sort of beef. It was usually pretty calm between the two of them, and the Lan’s were good people. They liked music, and old fashioned things. But they had their moments where they could be quite scary. Wei Wuxian isn’t sure what the fight was about but there had to have been something, Jiang Cheng wouldn’t have hit a Lan without a good reason.

The Lan he punched, Lan Yun, had then turned around and broken Jiang Cheng’s arm. Lan strength could be terrifying and he had been on the receiving end of it quite a few times. To say Jiang Cheng lost the fight would be generous, he was completely obliterated. His mother had not been happy, she made Jiang Cheng practice his forms with a broken arm. It was sickening to watch.

Regardless of that thought it started a bit of a beef with the Jiang and the Lan. Lan Qiren hadn’t been happy his disciple had a black eye and Jiang Fengmian was pissed his son's arm was shattered in three places. The Lan Clan mediator, Lan Xichen, decided that instead of starting an entire territory war they should—bond. Bond of all things. Half the room had looked at the man like he was insane, Madam Yu said he was insane.

Lan Xichen won in the end and decided to do camping.

Wei Wuxian was probably far more excited about this than he was supposed to be. He was practically vibrating in the room when he was told they’d go camping and bond with their chosen partner. “I think this will be a good exercise. They can work together to set up a camping site and cook food. No social media to distract them, no electronics in general. Are we in agreement?”

The resounding yes the room got was probably enough for him to explode with excitement. He really wanted to go camping, looking out over the stars, watching the sky and everything it had. “So what, do we divide everyone into pairs then?” Lan Qiren asked, stroking his beard.

Wei Wuxian stood already. “I call Lan Zhan!” And just like that he was across the room, grabbing the others hand and yanking him from his chair. “Lan Zhan, Lan Zhan! Camping! Let’s go get stuff come on!” Wide eyed he was watched as he yanked the other from the room, feeling his pocket for his wallet so he could pay for stuff. “We need a tent, canteen, cooler—“

[He does a lot of camping in canon, so this is great! Super into camping adventures gone wrong, into the unknown, wildlife as prompts but OTA prompts. His canon comes with fantasy and horror as well, and I always love playing around with those elements. OTA, canon, cross canon, assumed CR, OCs, etc.]

[This isn't the first time Bennet's shared a campfire with Mahariel, but it is the first time he's traveled so deeply into Ferelden with him. These woods have never been welcoming to Orlesians, even Orlesians of Avvaran heritage, but Bennet feels no fear or even unease, so absolute is his trust in the other man.

He is curious, though. The last time they trekked together like this he was the one who invited, and Mahariel dutifully marched far up into the Frostbacks with him to see what turned out to be a pack of red lions -- from an outcropping high above, of course. It had been his gift to the Dale, to show him the magnificent beasts who truly rule these mountains that his clan once called home and Bennet presently does. Now Mahariel's invited him into the lands the Sabraes presently call home. Maybe it's just a shot in the dark, but Bennet suspects there's something out here his old friend aims to show him.]

I've been up north too long. Wouldn't have blinked twice at heat like this in Val Royeaux.

It was supposed to be a group trip. A leisurely excursion into Orome's woods for a week or so, just to spend some time away from court. Some stress-free hunting, borrowed wine, and pleasant company in the form of people legally bound to put up with you.

One by one, the cousins had trickled away from the trip. Excuses (some of which were even plausible) were made, emergencies came up, and Makalaure turned up the morning of nursing an after-performance-celebration induced hangover that would probably haunt him for a week. So it seemed their little party had turned into just them, Tyelkormo, and Irisse- and given the way those two liked to hunt, Findekano expected it would be about an hour before they got bored and left him and Maitimo in the dust.

"Tyelko doesn't have your share of the drinks, right?" he mutters, having drawn his horse up at his older cousin's side.

"Because I have some good mead in my saddlebags, but Irisse fought to carry most of the wine and you know we're never seeing a drop of it."

[Being Sage's Wizards means odd situations being more commonplace than not, and Eastern Wizards are adept at making the best out of a bad situation... once they've grumbled their dissent and gotten their own feelings out of the way. Nero, as it turns out, isn't any stranger to cooking over an open fire, so while Heath and Shino set the tent up here at their halfway point and Faust re-examines the next day's mission, the resident chef is making the most of four fish, some seasonings he brought along, and a few wild plants. He's silent for the longest time, but eventually he catches on to the fact that Faust is looking through the documents rather than at them.
