( Theirs was a marriage that took place by mere happenstance and the chain of events that lead to it. By all accounts and rumors, the only daughter of the Warden of the North wasn't meant to be the one standing beside the beloved Dragon Prince and the heir to the throne that day on the Sept of Baelor. And yet it had been the She-Wolf of Winterfell who had been cloaked and wedded that day.

The North had been mostly kept secluded from the affairs of the rest of the Kingdoms, and it wasn't till her father sent her beloved Ned to the Vale and her older brother betrothal to the daughter of Lord Tully that inkling of information had come through. The whispers were saying the Dragon Prince was going to be wed first to the Princess of Dorne and then changed to the daughter of Lord Lannister, and then a raven with the royal seal had arrived at Winterfell.

It was quite bewildering, even for her, how betrothal talks had shifted from Lord Robert Baratheon to then being betrothed to Prince Rhaegar Targaryen. No one was really under the impression it could be rejected, their current king moods were precarious, and who wouldn't want their daughter to be the future queen. Her Lord Father going to King's Landing to settle the contract was a mere formality and much sooner than she realized, she was going to the capital - even celebrating her six and ten name day on the Kingsroad- to be wed.

And now here she was a married woman and princess to the Seven Kingdoms, the smallfolk had been more joyful their beloved prince was married than whom it ended being and that was fine, she can forge as best an impression on them as she could. Lyanna had to also, begrudgingly admit, that the demeanor of her current husband suited her better than what Lord Baratheon had shown. For as much as wolf-blooded and wilful as she was, she had also been aware of her station and that an arranged marriage was on the cards, it was the choice for the said husband that she hadn't been agreeable with.

Her current husband is somber, with an air of melancholy around him, dutiful to a fault and with a single-mindedness to certain things, but it was also true that he’s kind and honorable, she wouldn't have to worry about him straying and he had been mindful of her. And by the old Gods, she was trying to make it work despite being a duty for both, but she also wanted them to have some semblance of depth and maybe fondness, after all, their lives were now bonded and he was going to be the father of her children.

A part of Lyanna wants to think Rhaegar’s choice to move them to Dragonstone has helped with this, she appreciated the distance from King Aerys and the chance it allowed them. And by now she has grown used to the place, the scent of the ocean mixed with the brimstone, and it doesn’t feel as dreary as it had been when they first arrived, she had strived to get to know her husband and having him know her in return, finding some sense of joy and sweet victory on the few and rare times she had managed to make him smile or convinced him to play something for her.

The latter has been happening quite a bit as of late, and she willingly admits that she enjoys hearing him play. The ease of his talent when it comes to the instrument and the way the melody mixed with his voice seems to weave around her, causing something to stir and react within her. It’s a shame, that most of what he plays tends to be in accordance to his melancholic moods -no less beautiful, it’s hauntingly so, but she will appreciate something happier and not be reduced to near tears every time he finishes playing.
