They'd caught up a bit after the battle, but both of them were exhausted. Rightfully so. After that was a few days of texting in between sleep, and then more firm plans to meet up.

So now here Steve is. At Sam's place, six-pack of Sam's favourite beer in his hand, feeling like a nervous teenager on a first date. But he raises his hand and knocks, hoping he's not blushing or something like that.

It took a lot of effort for Gwen and Hawk to get up off the couch. They didn’t NEED to but they both as knew that their roommates didn’t need to wake up and see them cuddling on the couch. So they both got up off the couch and then just sort of... leaned against each other.

That lead to their arms wrapping around each other and then Gwen asked Sirlexa to play some soft music. And then Hawk stated to sway and suddenly they were slow dancing there in the living room.

[Lysander isn't entirely certain how one goes about asking a young woman who is actually a unicorn to dance; presumably, it's as simple as approaching her by the campfire and asking if she would like to dance. But for all his way with arrows and fighting Darkspawn, and for all his wit and banter on the road, when it comes to approaching lovely people who twist his stomach into knots, Lysander is hilariously terrible at those particular skills, something Tamlen and others in his clan often gave him grief for.

If they could see him now, struggling with an internal debate over asking a unicorn turned human to dance. Well, he'd never hear the end of it.

Zevran and Leliana both keep shaking their heads in his direction; Alistair is trying to pretend he's not watching the entire scenario closely, pretending to play with Lysander's Mabari, Fen'Harel.

Eventually, Lysander rubs a hand over his face, steels himself. It's just a dance, he tells himself. How hard can this be?

He approaches Amalthea with care, walking slowly towards her, his face growing increasingly pinkish as he does so. It is very likely he's about to make a complete fool out of himself, but he has to try, he thinks.]

Lady Amalthea. How are you this evening? Lovely weather we're having, isn't it?

It's a trap.

They both know it's a trap, both knew it would probably come to this, at some point, some day.

The days had passed, one after another; not quite monotonous, because each was filled with one horror or another, but even that gets boring, Dean thinks, the deluge of death and decay, disease and misery. It hardens the soul, the sensitive and weak parts snap off, leaving only a husk of the person you used to be.

Supply runs cost lost souls each trip, plugging a Croat that used to be a person becomes commonplace. At first, it bothered him, because putting a bullet in a person had always bothered him, but then it became routine, and Dean found the ache inside slowly numbing, turning to ice, the softness of his heart corroded, decayed.

But this -- this he knows, it's a trap.

The demon he caught was telling the truth - Lucifer was precisely where he was stated to be, but Dean isn't stupid. He knows better, and he knows tomorrow he will die, and he knows Cas will die; it's a suicide mission, it could be nothing else.

He sits in his cabin, polishing off what's left of his whiskey. Mini-me is off causing trouble, so Dean is left to his own thoughts of his life, the choices he made and the following consequences that brought them to this point.

There are a lot of regrets. More than he can count on both hands and feet combined.

It's what pushes him up, blunt fingers grabbing the glass up and polishing it off, sets him on a trajectory that brings him to Cas' cabin, rapping at the door, whiskey on his breath, admissions on his lips.
