[5'0" to 5'10" is more than enough of a difference for me! Maybe Hanatarou's a particularly low-ranking member of an influential noble family, and he's about to be married off to some rando he's never met for purely political reasons? I definitely love the injured Shinjiro setup; what if he got hurt saving/protecting Hanatarou (like maybe someone tried to rob him and Shinjiro just happened to be there, or Hanatarou got kidnapped and the family hired Shinjiro to rescue him... or something)? ...Or even just, he got hurt for unrelated reasons and just happens to be Hanatarou's patient, haha. ]

[Ooo, Accidental saving is appealing, with Hanatarou taking care of him after the fact (and also taking care of him). Maybe it could even be something where it's a constant boner and Hanatarou is trying everything to get it to come down because it's too damn huge.]

Shinjiro isn't about to let someone get hurt, not if he can stop it. That's the pros of not really caring about yourself, isn't it? Even if it gets him injured. At least the boy's okay. And if he dies, that's fine by him. It's the fact that he wakes up somewhere else that throws him off his game.

Raising his head up as high as he can, he groans as he looks at him. "...Didn't hurt you, right?" It's comfy where he's laying. Better than most nights.

Of course, Hanatarou brought his mysterious savior back to the manor and treated his injuries following the incident, and he hasn't left the man's side since. When the man finally stirs, Hanatarou shakes off his weariness and leans in.

"Ah, don't try to sit up yet!" Hanatarou says quickly, placing a hand on the man's chest to gently push him back down. He can't help blushing a bit, too. (Even now, his concern is for Hanatarou instead of himself?) "...I'm fine. Thanks to you. But I was scared that you were never going to wake up."

"Yeah. I've been through worse." He really doesn't want to lay back down, but the hand is strong enough to keep the guy who's been through a bit of hell back on the bed. His fingers run through his hair as he lets out a low groan. "...Thanks." He's gruff about all of this, but at least he can thank the guy.

At least he can take a look around while he's stuck on the bed. "...Nice place."

Hanatarou laughs, awkward and shy. "Um, thank you. I hope you don't mind... I brought you back here to my room. It's just in the annex, but it's comfortable enough." He momentarily busies himself with preparing a fresh bandage for the wound on the man's arm (not as bad as it could have been, thank goodness). "Now that you're awake... whom should I get in touch with to let them know where you are and that you're all right?"

"Don't mind. Glad to be safe." Shinjiro lets out another groan, his arm getting wrapped up and he enjoys the contact. It's been a damn long time since he had company. "No one. I live alone." He's sure Aki would worry about him, but he's not going to let Aki worry. "It's just me." Groaning as his head turns to look at Hanatarou, "You should wrap it a bit tighter."

"Oh! Yes, of course," he says, hastily pulling the bandages tighter. In lieu of letting his hands linger on his rescuer's arm, he finishes securing the wrap and then reaches down to enfold the man's larger hand in both of his own. "Well, in that case, please stay until you've recovered. I really can't thank you enough. If you hadn't been there, I..."

Ah, but it doesn't bear thinking about. He shakes his head and squeezes the man's hand a little tighter, lifting it toward his chest. "Will you tell me your name?"

"...Alright." He can't say that he's too upset about this. Plus the boy seems to really not want to let him go out too early. Something Shinjiro would absolutely do if he was on his own. "...Shinjiro. You can call me Shinji." The hands wrapped around his own are starting to feel... really good.

"...Shit. Sorry." The blanket is starting to tent down near his crotch. "Don't get like this often. Ignore that."

Hanatarou glances over, startles, and then flushes crimson—but aside from that, he ignores it! "Shinji," he repeats, then gingerly places his hand back down on the bed. (He shouldn't exacerbate the, er, situation by doing any unnecessary touching, right?) "I'm... Hanatarou Yamada." Though he's not sure how much of an introduction is necessary. His family is quite well known here, after all, and there's a chance Shinji saved him in the first place because he recognized the insignia on his kimono.

"...Thanks." For both ignoring it and helping him again. He knows those people. Even he, a bum on the streets, knows this family. But considering some of the people he's been around, he's not unfamiliar with how to act. "...Should I just call you Hanatarou then?" If he was asked, he'd answer honestly. He helped because he didn't want to see someone get hurt. "...Y'sure your family's okay if you keep me around?"

"Yes, Hanatarou is fine!" he assures Shinji. "Or... just Hana, if you like." He swallows. His face is never going to go back to its normal color if he can't stop being so weird and forward.

"Well... to be honest, the family heads aren't thrilled about it, but after I explained what happened, they had to agree. I won't let them just toss you out onto the street," he says, determined. (He's never gotten the hang of standing up for himself, but doing it for others is the easiest thing in the world.) "Speaking of which... sort of... what can I offer you as a reward? I don't have that much influence, but I'm happy to do whatever I can for you. And there's a chance I'll be able to do more once I get, you know, married. If my husband agrees."

"Hana." Hopefully Hana isn't too unhappy with the informality. He sighs and closes his eyes for a moment to relax.

"Heh. Yeah, I'm familiar with that." Though he figures he's thankful for Hanatarou being willing to fight for him. Not many would. He wouldn't, really. "Tch. Don't need a reward." Though he pauses for a moment and chuckles. "Though if you wanted to take care of what's going on down there, that'd help." But he just said he was getting married, so there's no way. And even then, he's joking.

As usual, the thought of his upcoming marriage makes him slip into a gloomy reverie, but he snaps out of it when Shinji answers him. He starts to protest—he has to do something to repay Shinji!—and then he laughs at the ribald suggestion.

...But then he considers it. "Would you... really like that?" he asks in a low voice.

Okay. No. He shouldn't even be thinking about it. Isn't this boy supposed to be getting married? ...But is it really his job to stop him? And he really doesn't want anything except for his body to relax. Which is impossible for it to do thanks to that damn boner. So he swallows the lump in his throat. And sighs.

"...Yeah." It doesn't help at all that Hanatarou is really cute. Fuck.

Hanatarou blushes as he thinks it through. He really wants to do it. Shinji is so different from everyone else he usually gets the chance to be with, and so kind... and isn't the type of person who helps you out without asking for any reward exactly the type who deserves a reward the most?... But...

"Well... it's not like I've actually met him yet—my fiancé, I mean. And he doesn't answer my letters or anything..." Hanatarou twists a length of extra bandages in his hands, trying to figure out if he can justify this. "He's coming next week to bed me and then take me back to his manor for the wedding, but maybe... until then... it's all right? ...What do you think, Shinji?" he asks anxiously.

"...Look. I don't care how you justify it." Shinjiro let out a groan as he moved his free arm over his eyes. "I'm not getting involved in this shit after the fact. So tell him whatever you want. Or just don't do anything at all." He groans and rests his head back, "Told you I didn't need a reward so if you've got a problem with it, then don't give me one." He's a little bit cranky, but he really didn't expect any of it to be a huge detail.

Hanatarou looked down, embarrassed and disheartened. "You're right. I, I shouldn't have— I'm really sorry." He'd been so excited about the possibility of connecting with someone who saw him as a person instead of a means to an end, he'd gotten ahead of himself and messed everything up. "...I'll let you be alone awhile. —Ah, you must be terribly hungry! I'll make you something to eat." In the end, he supposed they wouldn't be able to be friends—after all, why would Shinji still want to?—but Hanatarou still hoped he could help him however he could. Right now that meant giving him the chance to take care of himself... and of course, by now he probably was quite hungry. Hanatarou quickly rose to his feet to hurry for the door, though he stumbled a bit from lightheadedness. (Ah, he'd been awake too long... He should have some food, too.)

Wait. Nope. That's not what he was looking for. Blinking as he watched him try to struggle away, as he's so tired from taking from Shinjiro. "H... Hang on." He struggled a bit to try and sit up a bit. "I didn't mean it like that." He groaned and flopped back down on the bed, he couldn't sit up long. "...Go get food and come back. I... still need help down there." Groaning, and hoping Hanatarou would still help him.
