[Phoenix is the only spirit healer in the Gallows, possibly the only spirit healer in Kirkwall besides Anders, and thus is the only healer in the area that will tend to Templars and can be loaned out for Templar business. It simultaneously makes Meredith hold his leash particularly tight and give him unprecedented freedom--it's impossible for him to perform blood magic and still use spirits to heal, so there's always a way to check that he's staying on the straight and narrow; yet he's also invaluable to the Templars, and they can't risk him running away. Meredith has bound him to the Gallows with multiple young apprentices and his Tranquil former mentor with the implication that their safety isn't guaranteed if he strays, and he wouldn't dare risk them.

So when he's 'loaned' to the Champion of Kirkwall in the wake of the Qunari uprising to help heal the populace, he makes it clear pretty quickly that he has no intention of defecting from the Circles when Anders tries to talk him into it. Things get chilly between the two of them, and despite being an elf, Phoenix doesn't have much in common with Fenris or Merrill, and it's clear that Sebastian's frequent talk about the Maker makes him uneasy. But he gets along swimmingly with Varric, Aveline, Isabela, and especially Hawke.]

Well, I think we've only seen two hundred people today so far. [Phoenix says it lightly with a touch of irony, sitting down on a crate and nursing a lyrium potion. They've set up a pop up clinic in the Alienage to help the elves recover, and in some hope that Phoenix will be able to talk to folks and sus out how likely it is the Alienage will stage another uprising now that the Qunari have been defeated. But being an elf doesn't give him that much mileage here; he's a Circle mage before he's an elf in their eyes.] Sounds like a Tuesday in an Alienage. You'd almost think there wasn't an uprising two weeks ago.

[He suspects that the elves who were injured in the uprising are avoiding him. So far, it's mostly been normal kinds of ailments, like pneumonia or a child's broken arm or an elder's gammy knees. He hopes the elves avoiding him at least find their way to Anders' clinic.]

Quick, go break someone's leg so Meredith doesn't think I'm lazing around.

[The night is warm, the bar is packed, and the music is loud- but not loud enough to drown out the pack of women next to Darcy at the counter. They're chattering and giggling while the bartender works on their cocktails, and for some reason three of them are wearing roller skates. Their conversation seems to be focused around... dares?

The one with the blonde pigtails has her back to Darcy, but can loudly be heard insisting] No- shut up Trisha, listen! Look, a good dare has to be three things. [She holds her fingers to tick them off.] One, it should be something that gets the Daree outside their comfort zone. B, it should be something that's entertaining to watch. And six... it should be a little sexy. [There's a general burst of laughter at this, as several other girls try to protest, but the one with pigtails gets louder to make up for it.] Tell me I'm wrong! Tell me the most memorable dares you can think of don't involve sex in some way, shape or form.

[On the other side of the group, one of the other girls raises her voice enough to be heard, saying "Prove it! I dare you to kiss her!" and pointing over their shoulders to Darcy. Harley looks over her shoulder, taking Darcy in for the first time- and turns back to her friends.] Honey, that is not outside my comfort zone. [There's another burst of laughter at this.]

But- a dare is a dare. [Harley's one of the ones on skates, she rolls around to face Darcy fully, eyeing her again, a hint of a grin on her face.] BUT, consent is important! So what do you say, Mystery Girl? Can I kiss you?

( so, here's the thing about daichi: he's reliable. he's reliable and steady and always someone to be counted on. he rarely acts out of turn and in spite of being surrounded by chaos nearly all the time, he likes to think he's pretty cool.

...well, not cool, but calm. collected.

here's the next thing about diachi: he's not really all that collected or cool as you please lately. at least, on the inside. outside, he thinks he's keeping everything together pretty well. but, see, he's spent a lot of time thinking — and not just lately, though it's been much louder as of late — about stuff. and things. of course, any normal person constantly thinks about stuff and things, but this particular topic is kind of a big deal.

he's pretty solidly confirmed he likes suga and has spent a good deal of time on deciding what he wants to and/or should do about it. even though he's pretty sure they're on the same page with this, he's not one hundred percent positive and the last thing he wants to do is ruin their friendship. he values that too much to put into a bad place and successfully screw things up for them in the future. because he's always thought they'd be lifelong friends, and him getting the signals wrong definitely puts that in jeopardy.

but, here's another thing about daichi: he's a hot-blooded teenager who isn't perfect and has the unquestionable ability to make spur-of-the-moment decisions that could change things for the better or potentially ruin everything. but, this is what teens do! they're young and dumb and horny! and at least two of those three things are what drive daichi forward. suga's barely three paces away from him before daichi follows and grabs him by the wrist to stop him from going home just yet. daichi thinks and overthinks and somehow doesn't think whatsoever as he steps closer into suga's personal space, lifts a hand to cup his cheek, and presses a kiss against his lips. )
