1. Can't deny it - you've tried to run from your feelings for so long and you can't do it anymore. It's time that you show the object of your affection exactly how you feel. Hopefully you don't lose everything in the process!

3. Accidental - you didn't actually mean to confess or kiss. They overheard you or it was an accidental kiss. Maybe you were just really drunk and let it slip!

[ I loved the mental image of Aqua and Asura grocery shopping and her helping him through such an ordeal. As a reward, he gets some sweet, sweet loving. ]

No one thought Aqua and Asura's relationship was normal, and only slightly less thought it was a good idea. He was a dangerous, devious denizen of darkness. That couldn't be denied. But she had recognised that it was all born from fear, lashing out at a world that scared him despite his immense power. Once she had put him at ease, just once, he'd loved her more than most could ever dream of being loved. It helped that she seemed to find him cute when he was nervous and was proud of him for being brave, even if it was only by his standards.

It was hard adjusting him to life in the light, though.

Doing normal things seemed a sensible step, and presently, it was shopping. He was currently in charge of pushing the cart. He took it as a grave responsibility, but it also meant he couldn't hold Aqua's hand- which was ordinarily how he avoided public anxiety.

"That guy..." Asura leant over to whisper in Aqua's ear, squeezing the cart's handle hard and indicating who he was talking about with a twitch of is head. If we weren't as pale as a porcelain doll anyway, his knuckles would be white from the tight hold. "Is following us."

The guy wasn't. He was just behind them in the aisle. He's just getting worked up again.

Aqua stopped herself from reaching for a canned tomato sauce to glance over her shoulder at the supposed stalker. It was someone else buying groceries, someone who happened to be in the same aisle as them. Another clue that she was pushing Asura to his limits. He was trying, he was trying so hard for her.

Not many people would have the same amount of patience for him as Aqua did, but she wasn't like most people. She had been through her own world of darkness and loneliness. Ashura was different, yes, but he wasn't evil. He wasn't trying to conquer the world, or enslave it. Rather, he was afraid, and she didn't blame him. The world could be a big scary place, especially when people saw a powerful being as a weapon rather than a person.

"I don't think he is..." she began, moving back to Ashura's side to link her arm with his. Her hand soon coming to rest on top of his, her fingers sliding between the spaces of his knuckles. Now came the hard part, did they stay still and let the poor man pass, or keep going?

"He might have the same grocery list as us. Spaghetti is a pretty common meal," Aqua gently explained, hoping her touch would help ground him. They were nearly done, only two more items and then they could leave. But, they needed a distraction...

"You never did tell me which cake we should get. Chocolate or vanilla. Which sounds better to you?" Sweets. A nice reward for going through with an errand. One of the many rewards Aqua planned on giving Ashura once they were home.

As he thought of an answer, she slipped away from him long enough to get a can of tomato sauce, and crushed tomatoes.

Aqua understood a lot of the reasons why Asura's behaviour was so bizarre, from experience or empathy. He had been treated as a weapon since his creation, and was it any wonder he considered violence a suitable solution to all problems? All it really took was someone who treated him nicely- it had taken a while for him to believe her, but now that he did he trusted her a lot. Asura understood the nuisance he must be to her, and truly did try his best to make her happy with him around.

When she slid in beside him, he relaxed a little. Contact with Aqua always helped calm him, sometimes a tiny amount and sometimes entirely. A full panic attack that could end as a molten crater could be ended by a hug and a whispered word.

"Hmmm. Spaghetti on the same day as us? Suspicious," he muttered, shooting a sideways glance at the guy. There's a little tension left, but there usually is in public. At least his eyes lit up (literally, casting soft red spotlights on Aqua) at the mention of sweets. He's quite the glutton, and comfort eating has always been a weakness of his. In the past it was souls, making cake a marked improvement. He spent a long moment in thought, but concludes, firmly- "Victoria Sponge."

Aqua doesn't comment on how suspicious it was that someone else could be planning the same dinner as them, on the same day. The distraction was working, and quite honestly Asura's face was adorable as he thought over every option they had available to them. It was quite the change to get him to go from one vice to another, but at least this one no one was hurt.

Well, expect maybe a baking sheet here and there, but only when cookies or pastries didn't come out correctly. And even then, it sort of felt justified--and less expensive than breaking the oven.

"Perfect, that's a wonderful idea." They could easily grab it on the way out. Items in the cart, she slid back to Asura's slide to link her arm through his before they started to walk again.

"Why the Victoria Sponge and not carrot cake?" she asked, genuinely curious to how he arrived at his decision as they made their way back to the bakery aisle. Her mind started to wander to a few bake shows they could watch together once they got home. A good way to decompress after a trip to the market. Maybe they could cuddle too, not just for Asura's sake but...Aqua too.

Asura's developed a slightly wobbly grin when Aqua asked him to explain his reasoning. Most people didn't really want to know what was going on in his head at any given time. It would often turn out to be a complete jumble of nonsense, which is precisely what happened when he answered her question. His worries were set aside as he finally got to talk and have someone listen. "Because we're at the height of rabbit mating season. Their numbers and hunger will be extreme, so I want to avoid doing anything to attract a horde of angry lagomorphs."

Such logic made perfect sense to Asura the precise moment he thought it, but if he would continue to feel that way after a minute was never guaranteed. He rarely denied saying something utterly incomprehensible, he just... changed. One thing that was a stable opinion was his desire for her contact. As they walked, he leant slightly her way- keeping at least one boob in touch with his bicep at all times. He knows what he likes, don't judge him.

Aqua knew what she was getting into when asking Asura a question. It wouldn't make sense. It would never make any sort of sense to her, and yet, she still asked as the question allowed multiple things to happen at once. It allowed her to fain some insight into how his mind worked, provided some distraction, and created the illusion they were a (somewhat) normal couple.

Though his answer made...some amount of sense. It was bound to happen sooner or later. Or...perhaps, some of his quirks were finally rubbing off on Aqua. Either way, she nodded her head along and guided them to stand in the checkout lane.

"I didn't think of it that way. You're right, we are at the height of rabbit mating season..." she leaned into him, aware of his bicep touching her boob and pressed it against her further. Just long enough for her to kiss his cheek.

"No carrots for a while, not until rabbit mating season is over. Reasonable enough." The blue haired beauty pulled back from him as she began to put their items on the conveyer belt, once the task was done, she easily went back to his side...

And hopefully, the poor cashier wouldn't try to make small talk with them.
