Dignity? Modesty? Propriety? Being able to keep secrets? These things are someone else's problem now that your character has been somehow given a super dose of truth serum. No matter what they do, they cannot help but tell the truth. They are compelled to do it and, by God, nothing's gonna stop. Nothing can stop them.

How to:

→ Post with your character . . . who has just been dosed with the ultimate magical truth serum, blurting out something they would otherwise lie about or keep secret. Maybe they are in the middle of spouting off an unpopular opinion, an embarrassing personal fact or admitting to a favorite sexual position or partner? Run wild the idea. Just . . .
→ DO NOT LEAVE YOUR COMMENT BLANK. It's your character and their secret.
→ Other characters reply with their reactions. Shenanigans ensue!
→ If confronted with a question, your character MUST answer all of them honestly.
→ Have fun and be excellent to each other.

[He raises an eyebrow at that.]

Not more... just... different.

What do you mean?

[He stops what he's doing and looks at Molly - really looks at her. He sighs, because he must tell the truth.]

Out of all the hospitals in the city, I come to Bart's. Out of all the pathologists, I work with you... what do you think I mean?

[That is really more open than he had intended to be.]

[She stops in her tracks, back straightening a little bit. She knows he can't mean anything by it, but that doesn't stop the small glimmer of admittedly foolish hope to flare up again, as though he does these things in purpose.]

I... I couldn't say. I just assumed you preferred the facility. And that you, um... knew I get on with you and so I don't always strictly follow procedure if you need a favor.

Molly, you're so much more than that. I don't do... relationships of any form well. But... I... well, to me... if I could pick my family, you'd be in it.

[He turns away, this time embarrassed. Maybe a little afraid that he hurt her again. He always tries to look out of her, he just does a rubbish job of it.]

[She blinks at him, several different conflicting emotions running through her head.]

That's-... that's very sweet, Sherlock. I'm flattered.

[She takes a deep breath at that, smiling gently.]

As your family, then, it's my responsibility to be there for you whenever you're feeling down.

[Sherlock released a breath he didn't know he was holding. He had been afraid she'd be offended - maybe it was best he didn't call her a 'sister' - though that's what she is.]

Really? Flattered. I... That's good.

[But confusion crosses his features.]

And... what would you do for me... when I'm feeling down?

[She shrugs a shoulder, grateful that enough time has passed between the that she can take this as well as she can.]

Whatever you might need from me, of course.

And... what might I need from you?

[Genuine curiosity. He doesn't really understand this... stuff.]

[She shakes her head, mouth open a little as she tries to come up with a proper response.]

A-... a hug? A chat over a cup of tea? Someone to listen to you? Whatever it is you feel comfortable with.

[He's quiet for awhile, thinking. His voice is very quiet again.]

A... hug... could be good...

[She almost doesn't hear him, his voice is so low. But when she realizes that yes, that's what he said, she tries not to get flusters.]

A-... all right.

[She closes the distance between them, tentatively putting a hand on his back as her own voice quiets down.]

Come here.

[Sherlock stands and very slowly approaches her. It's clear he knows what he's supposed to do, but he's hesitant.]

I... don't want to do this wrong...

[She smiles gently at him, voice soft, as though afraid she might scare him off, even if she's just as nervous as he is for reasons she can't define.]

It's a hug, Sherlock. Between two friends. Just do what feels right and I'll follow.

[But it's not just a hug. When he hugs Mrs. Hudson it's about her... this... is about him. He's acknowledging that he has feelings and sometimes needs comfort. He very slowly closes the rest of the distance between them and the wraps his arms around her...]

[Molly can only assume that it's just a hug, because she doesn't want to think about it being about anything other than that, other than him needing someone there for him for a brief moment. No matter what might happen between them, he's always turned to her, but never like this, and she isn't going to let this moment go to waste. Ignoring that silly little flare of happiness that insists on cropping up, she reaches up to put her arms around him, one slipping around his slim shoulders and the other wrapping about his side, bringing him in close as though to silently tell him that she's here for him.]

[Sherlock pulls her a little closer to himself. Almost clinging to her. And it feels...]

Nice.

[And if he sniffles a bit... well, needing a hug is one thing, admitting tears is another.]

[This is all new territory for her. Not only does she not exactly get a lot of physical interaction on a regular basis, but she never would have thought Sherlock would ever come to her for this kind of comfort. It makes her feel a little lost, but she tries not to focus on that, choosing instead to rest her head against his shoulder, fingertips tentatively stroking his hair. Her voice is barely a whisper, as though she's still afraid he'll jerk away from her if startled.]

Is it helping?

[He probably would jerk away if he was startled. This is new... different. Nice, but scary for him too. He doesn't trust his voice, so instead nods.]

...

[After a few beat he finds his voice.]

Think so...

[Not feeling him tense up or try to pull away encourages her, and her fingertips go from gingerly touching his hair to brushing through it just a little more confidently. She doesn't want to overload him, but if it helps, she'll do what she can.]

I'll always be here for you, Sherlock. No matter what, you don't have to be alone if you don't want to be.

[He protests weakly. He's convinced himself this is the truth, so not even the truth serum works against it.]

Alone is what I have... Alone protects me....

Let me protect you.

[Her face flushes quite brightly at that, or else she would have looked up to meet his eyes.]

I can at least try.

[He takes a breath and before he really knows what he is doing; he's nodding his agreement. This is accompanied by a release of breath and a slight slump of his body. More weight than he had intended on putting on Molly.]

Okay.

[A simple one-word of acceptance of Molly's offer.]

[Saying that she's surprised that he just relaxes against her like that would have been an understatement. Not for the first time, Molly wonders who had hurt him, and why it had had such an effect on him. It couldn't have been that Adler woman, since she was fairly sure that he'd been like this before he'd ever met her, but she doesn't know enough about his personal life to say for sure. Regardless, she nods against him, raising her head just enough so she could whisper quietly in his ear, even if she still can't meet his eyes for all her blushing.]

What do you need?

[He started speaking too quickly. What does he need, indeed?]
