Ezra wasn't very good at letting people take care of him. He was especially not good at letting a bunch of former(?) Imperials take care of him.

They'd been trapped on this planet for a few months now. Figured out shelter, food, water, all that. Their alliance was... difficult, but improving. Ezra was at times the most trusting person in the galaxy, and at others, the most on edge. It didn't help that the people he was supposed to trust were Thrawn and his crew, and being separated from anyone else familiar was just the meiloorun on top.

Being the kind of person to just push through any obstacle, he didn't bother mentioning to anyone that he'd gotten sick. If anything, he tried to cover it up by working harder. Which worked until it didn't. Until he collapsed in the middle of their camp without warning.

He stirred now in his bed, trying to remember where he was and what had happened. It still felt weird to call it his bed, his was back at the Ghost, or on Lothal if anywhere else, and Thrawn had told him it actually belonged to someone named Vanto and- Thrawn. How could he let himself get sick when he was still stuck with Thrawn?! Sure, they had their deal and sure, he was useful, but! This could be exactly the opportunity he's been waiting for! Thrawn's weird like that, always playing the long game or whatever. He didn't kill Ezra before because it'd be way easier now. Obviously!

Ezra sat up with a start, and when he opened his eyes and saw Thrawn... Well, he sorta maybe knocked him back against the wall with the Force. He totally hadn't been thinking for months how much he'd love to do that. It was just instinctual. And probably justified in this situation, he thought to himself as he panted heavily.

There were a few things that Wei Wuxian learned about not having a golden core. First, he was cold. Constantly cold. Which was also probably driven from him using resentful energy. As Lan Wangji always put it; resentful energy harms the body. Another thing he noticed, he was tired easier. Even walking up a flight of stairs tended to be exhausting not to mention walking for miles on end. Finally, and probably most importantly, he got ill.

Though perhaps strongly in denial about it (when was the last time he got sick?) he was certainly feeling under the weather. It was actually fairly annoying, to fall to sickness so easily when before his body would brush it off without even a thought. This being the case, and because Jiang Yanli wasn’t around to yell at him or make him soup anymore, Wei Wuxian was quite determined to ignore this.

And he did.

For perhaps a month.

Another thing he learned; traveling while ill was far from ideal. The further he went it seemed the worse he got, sleeping outside probably didn’t help that. It got to the point where simply standing made him dizzy and he couldn’t keep food down. It hurt to breathe, hurt to walk, hurt to drink water or eat. That, was when Lan Sizhui found him. Just traveling around, walking past, the boy paused and caught sight of Wei Wuxian leaning against a tree trying to stop the world from spinning.

According to Sizhui he had a fever. He had no idea, it also didn’t change the fact he was determined to keep going. That apparently worried Sizhui an awful lot. He told him to go to Gusu or he’d send a letter to Lan Wangji. Oddly enough, he was still certain despite agreeing that Sizhui sent the letter anyway, or a butterfly. Either way he was suspicious as they started the walk to Gusu together.

Sizhui left him for his own travels once they reached the town at the base of Cloud Recesses. He made his way up the steps, taking far longer than he normally would. Wei Wuxian didn’t want to bother Lan Wangji, he really didn’t. Lan Wangji was chief cultivator now, he had more problems to deal with that didn’t involve Wei Wuxian.

Reaching the top he let out a heavy breath and pressed his hand against his temple, hoping that the world would stop spinning for at least a few minutes. If he laid down here, on the path, would that be against one of the four thousand rules? Probably. He was going to try anyway. Sitting down on the stone he sucked in a deep breath and tried to will the bright sunlight of the Cloud Recesses to dim a bit. He’d find Lan Wangji in a few hours.
