[ Jace wasn't sure when the tension in the air had changed to something else. it'd been fine, they'd been sparring, and things had been normal. Like usual. Usual where he was kicking Alec's ass, but Alec was making him work for it. Then he'd made the mistake of mentioning the move and Alec had just gone all... intense on him.

It was weird, and look, Jace knew weird, look at his life, but this was just out of the norm, even for Alec.

Something felt suddenly off, and yet charged, and Jace was left feeling wrong-footed, and off balance, so when Alec swept his staff under and knocked Jace off his feet, he was surprised enough to fall back on his ass with a startled grunt. ]
