[Acquiring a new familiar isn't a momentous event. Absolutely nothing special, as far as the life of a mage goes... unless your name's Merlin, your new familiar is the reputed demon bog cat that slaughtered plenty of warriors before the King and Sir Kay came along, and the cat is actually more shapeshifting canid than form-reactive feline.

Needless to say, he'll never let Cath Palug live any of that down. Maybe except the murder part.]

Believe her, she went by the other place, but no one interesting was there, certainly not her mysterious stranger with the bleached hair and the British accent, if not exactly British mannerisms. She's fucked enough Brits to know, they would never bite people in their throes of passion. So for now, Madeleine's sought refuge in a lowbrow place a couple of blocks from her hotel, gritty enough for her black and white cocktail dress to stand out, in case he should show up here, but NYC is big and the world's bigger yet. M. Bonfils has forwarded her plane tickets to her, the good Mr. Newman having finally tired of her, day five, all according to plan. Tonight is her own, then, and this is how she spends it? The bar counter's a neutral black, reflective surface, the drinks are heavy on the alcohol, and she sits at the very end with a perfect view of the entrance. Alas, she thought she was done fixing herself up for men who didn't show, but here she is, and it's two in the morning. For all she's styled her hair, tight, sleek ponytail that falls mid-back, he certainly hasn't come.

[It occurs to Fjord that he's never actually been to the Blooming Grove. Heard about the others stumbling upon it, sure. But he (and Jester, and Yasha,) had been indisposed at the time, and they'd never properly had the opportunity to head back.

They're in the neighborhood, now. Traveling south. Moreover they have time, for once. No brainwashed friends to chase, no looming volcanic conventions to plan, no fragile peace treaties to broker, no world-ending horrors about to be unleashed. (At least...none more than the usual amount. But that's a problem for their arrival in Port Damali.) And between the proximity and the curiosity of several interested parties, they detour into the dark and dangerous boughs of the Savalirwood to pay a visit to Caduceus' home.

He understands that the Residuum they had gathered on their travels had been meant to help with...some of that. (That is, the dark and dangerous thing.) But if it has, there's little yet to show for it. At least, not this far out. Trees still blighted and bleached by whatever cursed thing has taken hold of the wood and corrupted it. They'd just seem like trees, mostly—if not for the unnatural, deathly color of them. The way the branches seem to twist and catch like grasping hands, the underbush grown into tangles of razor-sharp thorns and poisonous looking blooms. Even the rustle of the wind though the leaves sounds like more like an ominous whisper.

Frankly speaking, it kind of gives him the fucking creeps.

Out of an abundance of caution they choose not to forge in through the bramble at night. It's too dark to travel but too early to sleep, so the group sets up camp the old-fashioned way—under the least ominous looking tree they can find—and Fjord makes an excuse to invite Caduceus to help him gather fuel for the fire. (And maybe to get the lay of the land, a little. Perhaps in more ways than one.)

[As a question, it's little leading— He can't claim to have a read on morale, here. Caduceus hasn't seemed particularly anxious to hurry home. But here they are on the metaphorical doorstep. There's no doubt that Reani got the newly un-petrified Clays home safely after they'd been found and restored at the Menagerie. (Along with the rest, the Stone family. The association is uncomfortable, still sits kind of strangely with him, but not in a way that's ultimately important. Coincidence.) But they'd been there and gone so quickly that they'd barely had the time to properly meet Caduceus' family, let alone time to really understand what they were headed home to face.]

Had he been careless or just stupid to be in this situation right now? Whatever it was, he was paying for it now. Locked up in a very dank looking cell, on a wavering ship out in the middle of the ocean. He had gotten to comfortable with the crew apparently not finding him, having moved for at least the last few days between parts of the lower deck. It hadn't been easy, but it was the best that could be done.

But, he dozed off and then found himself being violently awakened when a giant cat's paw pinned him to the ground. It happened too fast, lots of faces whirling by, shouting and frustrated voices. He thought he had overheard a few people discussing of throwing him right overboard. Whatever the case was apparently they had decided to just throw him in the brig and let the captain decide his fate. Weapons and his supplies taken, the only thing he had with him was the armour he wore which wasn't much.

Still, Glyph sat there in the back of the cell moodily stewing in the potentials that could happen. Sure, being thrown overboard might still be on the table, but there were a hundred other ways they could deal with him. Would they swing by Darktow and sell him into slavery? Maroon him on some island? They might just turn him over to the guards in one of the port towns. Some sounded better than others but left with the unease of what might happen didn't sit well with him. So much so it finally brought him to this point; shouting.

"HEY! Are you fucks gonna leave me down here 'til I starve or are you going to actually tell me what you're gonna do! I'm getting bored waiting!"

Clearly, antagonize the heck out of them was the best solution.

[the light has barely come to lit up the sky, still dark outside with the small chirps of birds in the air. it's serene. quiet. welcoming almost. these are the times that keigo finds himself the most relaxed. yet, he often slept in, never really enjoyed these hours at all.

what a shame.

but now, he's awake, sitting up in bed as he looks outside the large windows. it's warm around him, but that may have more to do with the body next to him in bed. it was dangerous, this entire game. yet, keigo couldn't help but be swayed by his drug, his addiction reaching a whole new level that the hero fought himself with.

he's still worried of the league mixing their power with the liberation army, of the force this entire group would become. it had to be to an end. the final hour was coming upon them, but here hawks was, trying to spend what little time he had with the villain constantly on his mind.

it's fucked up how his mind is crossing a whole new territory, one keigo doesn't dare bring up to his handlers, and especially not to dabi.

still, it's hard to not drop his gaze from the window, laying his body back down in order to come closer to the warmth of the villain. this is his only moment to test and see, his one last plea. and keigo isn't sure he can get the words out without stumbling on them. but if he doesn't at least try, he'll regret it, he's sure.

his wings relax behind him as keigo lifts himself up to tower over dabi's body, pressing a hand to run through the villain's soft, dark hair.]
