a.) Closer to canon with Lan Zhan capturing Wuxian for his own good. This can be either because he assumes Wuxian really is going down a really, really dark path, or because he knows he's out for revenge and is trying to stop him from taking on the entire cultivation world.

b.) Going further from canon, but Lan Zhan hearing of the dark and evil Wuxian. Tasked with bringing him in, he captures the criminal. However, he finds out that he's not actually the demon the rumors made him out to be. Meanwhile, the two find they actually really like each other.
