[ A soulmate, as far as Zhongli is concerned, is not fundamentally different from any other companion; if anything, he understands the necessity of it less. He picks and chooses his company for what they can provide to each other that alone one cannot, and crafts his agreements accordingly — so if there's anything unusual about their relationship, he'd probably say it's that there is no contract binding them together over the fact that when they'd met, the glaze lilies around them began blooming in waves as if responding to the warm glow of their energies resonating with each other. And to Zhongli, that they've come to settle their people upon the same land together is above all else because he can better protect his followers by way of Guizhong's shared wisdom. Perhaps sentiment or personal feelings do enter into it — but he simply lacks the ability to understand that it is what it is.
Still, he's content with the way things are. Over time, they've settled into a mutual arrangement that suits them both; Guizhong often guides their people from nearby while Zhongli serves as a more distant guardian, often roaming the land to keep their borders safe from whatever threats might come their way, rarely meeting with the humans under their shared protection. Even when he returns from his travels, it's usually not to Guili Plains, but to her adeptus's abode in Jueyun Karst.
On this particular homecoming, Zhongli comes with his arms full of flowers. He'd remembered Guizhong mentioning the last time they'd met that she was researching herbal remedies, and although she hadn't asked him to, he'd decided to gather the ones that only grow on mountaintops for her. In lieu of greeting, he simply places the flowers at her worktable. ]

[ Care for a bond with a mortal? Basher is the second in command of Moriarty's crime network and has a very questionable moral compass. BUT he likes bars and bar fights and gambling, so how does that sound as a first meeting? Drunk Basher gets caught cheating at poker and our guys end up either teaming up or trying to punch each other's lights out - only to realize that they're destined to spend some time together?
