1. proposal {

1. park - you've been planning this proposal for awhile and have taken your sweetheart to a nice secluded area in the park. are they going to say yes or leave you in the dust?

2. house - dimmed lights, candles, home made dinner. it's obvious you've fixed yourself up for something tonight. let's see if your lover catches on before the question is popped.

3. public event - perhaps you're one who wants to gain a lot of attention; maybe your significant other doesn't as much. either way, this goes from writing their message in the sky with an airplane to something like a flash mob ensemble with others involved.

4. restaurant - nothing romantic like taking them out somewhere ritzy and hiding the rings in that glass of expensive wine.

5. car - you've driven them somewhere nostalgic or meaningful either to you or each other, or perhaps just a good view overlooking the city cause maybe you had no other idea how to do it or couldn't afford anything else.

2. marriage {

1. traditional - both parties have agreed and said yes, and everything goes well just like in the fairy tales you've always dreamed of.

2. arranged - you had no say so in this but somebody else like your parents did. you've never seen this person before until you walk down the aisle. what are your thoughts? are you nervous? what if you two don't get along? looks like you have to deal with it either way. enjoy?

3. elope - nothing fancy. you know, they do make drive thru chapels or perhaps you're just going to experience the excitement of meeting up at the court. all and all, it doesn't matter, just so you have your sweetheart to yourself.

4. shotgun - congrats, somebody is pregnant. there's only one more thing left to do now..

5. disaster - looks like somebody forgot the rings! never mind the fact the maid of honor is having a wardrobe malfunction or that soon to be father in law is causing a scene of some sort.

3. after marriage {

1. honeymoon night - self explanatory! come on, you know what this means. it just wouldn't be the same without this option.

2. new addition - it could be a pregnancy or bringing home a new child, or something as simple as a new pet goldfish.

3. house purchase - after months of living in a trashy apartment, you're both about to sign the dotted line and move into your new place.

4. argument - deep, relationship sort of arguments or something petty like who drank all the milk; it's up to you!

5. divorce - somebody has had enough of this and is ready to move on. how will it all go down?

4. domesticity {

1. household chores - it's time to clean/cook/garden/take care of something! do you work together, or does one of you hide until everything is done?

2. shopping - whether it's for furniture, groceries, or something in between, shopping is something that everybody must do at some point in time! what varies is if they like it or not.

3. family vacation - WE'RE OFF TO DIDNEY WOOOOOOOOORL or wherever
... well, as long as the kids are happy, right...? you may not be happy (or maybe you are), but it's mainly about ~family bonding~.

4. romantic retreat - it's you and your loved one's anniversary, and you decide it's time to take some time off and take them somewhere nice, where you only have each other.

5. comfort - is somebody sick in bed? or perhaps they just had a bad day? sometimes, a good breakfast in bed or a home-cooked meal can really lift the spirits! or perhaps you want to try medicine, or laughter, or something else?

6. holiday - happy birthday/New Years/Christmas/Valentine's Day/whatever! it's a very special day that only comes once a year, so make it count!

7. making up -it's time to make amends for that fight/divorce/whatever you had before! after all, you love each other... right?

8. surprise, surprise - you are feeling rather loving tonight, so you want to remind the other person how much you cherish and appreciate them... if it's by something cute and adorable or hot and sexy is completely up to you.

[Sometimes, Rey's life still feels a little like a dream.

From the moment Ben Solo swept into the little coffee shop during a shift she'd switched with a co-worker, he'd done nothing but turn everything upside down.

And truthfully?

She doesn't know if she'd change a moment of it if given the chance.

He's never made her feel like some sort of obligation, never purposely made her feel guilty about accepting his kindness and generosity (no matter how clumsily he sometimes offered) although she's been good at convincing herself that she's not worthy just fine all by herself. He's just ... cared for her, and he's done it in the best ways he knows how.

Although ... a little communication has gone a very long way in terms of their relationship and how it's progressed from an arrangement to actual real, true love and mutual respect, an understanding that both of them had issues to work through regarding abandonment and trust, and the assurance that they'd work on those issues together.

It wasn't always perfect, but they work to make it work.

Ben had proposed five times before Rey finally said yes. Not because she didn't want to marry him from the beginning, just that she wanted to be sure that she was completely ready before agreeing. How fortunate to love a man so patient and understanding, who never pushed her into anything she didn't want, rather pushed her to understand that she is worth so much more than she's ever dreamed - including him.

Somewhat predictably, he'd gone all out in giving Rey the wedding of her dreams, even though she'd continually insisted that she'd be happy enough with a small backyard ceremony with just a few friends or family present.

But ... nothing matters more than being announced - officially - as Ben's wife, confident in the step they're taking into making a life with each other.

Still, she's dizzy and breathless as he lifts her into his arms, preparing to step over the threshold for the first time as husband and wife, overwhelmed in all the best ways possible.

She's a wife. She's Ben's wife.]

( patience is something ben has learned in bounties with rey. a princely boy, he was always given everything he wanted growing up — but he learned that the things that really matter take time, effort. he was always rich, but he didn't become the wealthiest bachelor just by sitting around on his grandfather's fortune and twiddling his thumbs. he worked at it, and he works at his relationship with rey with more steadfast intensity and one tracked mind than he has with anything else. he learns her favorite color is yellow, and that she's never known her parents. her learns she was living on the street for a time, and that ben likes to feed her so much because she's been starved for most of her life.

like that, they grow closer. he proposes because he wants to remind her he's always here for her, hungry for her — but when she actually accepts he isn't at all prepared. he doesn't have a ring.

his grandmother is very scolding when he calls her on the phone, to ask for hers. ask her to marry you, with no ring? you're more romantic than that, benny.

it really is a wonder, having a family now at the tips of his fingers, a phone call away. he'd made amends largely in part to rey's good influence on him — reaching out to his mother, having rey there to hold his shaking fingers when they met up with his father for the first time in several years. leaving snoke and first order real estate had been shockingly easy with her at his side, saying things like you're not alone, and ben actually believing it for once. things with his parents are still touch and go, but he imagines that's what family is for a lot of people — you love your parents, but jesus christ, mom, stop playing twenty questions with my fiancé.

everyone is suspiciously on good behavior on the day of the wedding. it's the first time he's seen luke since he was a boy, and they have an alarmingly good conversation. leia kisses his cheek, but he shoos her to tend to rey. han walks her down the aisle. chewie, his uncle, holds the rings. lando officiates.

but from the time rey walks down the aisle in her perfect white gown, ben doesn't really notice anything else but her. the world could be on fire around them, and he wouldn't bat an eye in fear of missing a second spent observing her.

the wedding is great, but really — he can't wait to have rey, his bride and wife, alone. he isn't much for social events, but he's gotten better with rey at his side. she deserved a big wedding anyway, with all the food her heart could want filling up a hundred tables, and a huge cake, and all her friends surrounding her with love. now, though. ben scoops her up in his arms, her heels having already been draped over his fingers since they left the limo, ducking in to steal a kiss as they walk through the ever familiar door of his, now their, apartment. )

Welcome home, Mrs. Solo.

( he grins at her, ducking to press a kiss on her neck, nosing around at the scent of her rich perfume. he hums. )

Are you all packed for our honeymoon?

( oops he has maybe kept it a secret from her for this long — telling her just to make sure she packs plenty of bathing suits when she asks any probing questions. )

[Rey has come a long way with the help of her therapist and the many, many long conversations they've had about her massive (and well-founded) fear of abandonment.

Ben is steady, though. He makes her feel safe. And while the fear that he will someday look at her and wonder what the hell he ever saw in her anyway was irrational at best, love isn't a passive thing. They'll both have to work together and grow together and learn when to compromise.

It doesn't seem such a daunting task, if it's with Ben. (Even if Rey still wants to admonish him whenever he wants to drop too much money on whatever it is he sees and thinks of her.)

It's a work in progress. So is Rey. She probably always will be.

Opening up to each other in more meaningful ways hasn't been easy, either. She's shed plenty of tears on the nights that she's spoken about her parents, her life before and during foster care. Despite that pain, she's got Ben and she's got friends that are as close as family, and she is happy. Really.

Just as Ben listens to her, Rey listens, too. She can't always offer the best advice, but she's got a shoulder, and she's determined to stand by him whatever comes their way.

She doesn't much care that there's no engagement ring, at first. She's got Ben and his heart, and that's what matters more. She does care when he wonders if he should try to reconnect with his family, and she is there by his side during every hesitant phone call and nerve-wracking meeting, reminding him to breathe. It's important for him to know that no matter what had happened between them in the past, there is still opportunity to have a present together, to plan for a future.

Rey takes the job of caring for Ben very seriously - so after one too many instances of seeing Ben angry and exhausted because of his job and she sits him down and gently suggests that he doesn't have to stay with First Order if he's not happy there. He has the means and the time to figure out where to go next, there's no hurry in finding something else. Hell, he could start his own business if that's what he wants just as long as he's no longer under Snoke's thumb!

'Listen, I want to spend the rest of my life with you, but that's going to end up much shorter than I'd like if you continue letting them work you into an early grave'.

So Ben leaves First Order, and they focus on mending his relationship with his family, and planning their wedding. By the time it actually comes around, Rey feels comfortable around his parents, welcomed and accepted, and had even started developing ties with extended members of the family, blood ties or not.

They are ... a lot. But she truly does enjoy getting to know them all, finding a place to belong with them as well and by the time their wedding day arrives, she's completely comfortable spending an entire day with them.

She'd insisted that she would be happy with an intimate backyard ceremony and Ben has conceded insofar as his idea of intimate (at his mother's suggestion) is holding it on the grounds of his family's sprawling estate.

Rey has no family to invite, but she's got friends as good as any brothers or sisters. But her attention is focused fully on Ben in the instant that she catches sight of him seeing her in her dress for the very first time, her beaming smile as bright as the sun, and that's before it's bolstered by Han muttering that he's never seen his son so happy.

Everything goes off without a hitch. They share their first kiss as husband and wife, they dance, they eat, they celebrate with family and friends and it is perfect, it is more than she could have imagined in her wildest dreams. She damn well knows that Ben feels uncomfortable and awkward in most social situations, but the fact that he makes the effort for her is so appreciated. She wishes she has the words to express just how much she adores him, from the top of her head to the tip of her toes and every bit in between.

It's the wee hours before they're able to make an escape, and by that time, Rey wants nothing more than to spend some sweet uninterrupted time with her husband.

She accepts that he's not going to set her down until he's good and ready, and doesn't put up much of a fuss as she's carried to the door, nuzzled, and swept inside.

Their apartment looks much more lived in now, feels like a much happier place to be. It's not like she has any great talent for interior decorating, but it's amazing what a few colorful accessories can do, and the massive couch now sports some bright accent pillows. The walls now feature framed photos of the two of them, family, friends, something that says 'we live here and we love our lives'. She's a little messy sometimes, will let things sit where they drop, but seeing a pair of shoes near the front door or a sweater draped over a chair doesn't scream at how bad a housekeeper she is, only just goes to show that this place is not the museum that it once was.

For the moment, Rey is happy here. And Ben seems much happier, too. He smiles easier now, laughs more, just seems far more at ease than she's ever seen him before, and perhaps that's the greatest gift of all.]

Welcome home, Mr. Solo.

[She laughs, nodding gently, her eyes shining bright with all the affection she has for Ben in every inch of her body, obvious now, no more need to keep it hidden and secret.]

Mmhm, I think so. I mean, you still won't tell me where we're going, but I'm assuming it's someplace nice and warm.

( if it's up to him, he'll never set her down, and rey will just have to spend her days being lovingly coddled in the circle of his arms. stepping forward, he blindly makes his way into their bedroom while his eyes occupy themselves with watching her, starlight echoing a sentiment he holds in his heart. i can't believe she's mine.

inside, he does let her feet hit the ground, just so he can press his chest to her back and affectionately run his mouth against the bare skin of her shoulder, the way he's been dreaming about all night. not that he'd been unaffectionate at their wedding, but there's a degree of privacy required in handling her the way he really wants to. ben means to peel her out of her dress, really, but gets lost in letting his rough thumb find her spine at the middle of her back, rubbing against her skin soothingly. hypnotized, he keeps up the motion, mouthing along her skin. )

Mm. Nice and warm. ( playfully, he moves his lips up to nip her jaw, free hand moving tendrils of hair fallen out of her updo past her shoulder, so he can push his words into the shell of her ear. ) I plan to spend my honeymoon between your legs, so I can't say you're wrong.

( she's not wrong, anyway — and ben can't really expect their flight to remain a complete mystery, so he imagines now is as good a time as any to spill the beans. leaning back, he eyes the zipper of her dress, delicately and carefully pulling it down. they've had nights where ben's just torn through whatever lingerie she's worn for him — but this is special, something to be treated with care like the precious cargo beneath it. he's not going to rip her wedding dress, even if he wants to. )

My grandparents are distraught, having missed the wedding. We'll go visit them — they have a villa in Italy, and they desperately want to meet you. ( zipper dealt with, ben doesn't so much as pull her dress down as he slides his hands around her ribs, pushing up between her skin and her dress to cup her breasts. ) There's a winery, and they have horses and private beaches. We'll stay there as long as you like, and then take my grandmother's yacht up the coast — go to France, Spain, wherever you want. On our way back, we can visit Greece.

( after then, it's up to wherever rey wants to go, but ben imagines she won't have much fuss over where he takes her — and anyway, he's currently more interested in dragging his teeth against her neck, thick hands easily encompassing the entirety of her small, perfect tits. ) I have a private jet booked, but we don't have to be at the airport for a few hours, which gives me plenty of time to get you off twice and tuck you in for a power nap. She might sigh and roll her eyes dramatically, but the grin lighting her entire face up is enough indication that she's actually tickled by the suggestion.

Rey meets Ben's eyes, and she's sure that it's clear in her matching expression that she feels exactly the same sense of wonder. I can't believe he's mine.

She's still thanking her lucky stars as Ben bends down and lets her loose, not that Rey has any plans to go very far. In fact, she's more than comfortable with staying right where she is if it means receiving the affection that Ben's been saving for her all night - every careful kiss, every gentle caress, leaning into him all the further once he gets his huge hands on her bare skin and makes sure to take his time touching her, even though he's memorized every inch of her innumerable times by now.

She shivers a bit - just as titillated by his hands and mouth as she is the words that he gifts her with, words that she knows he means wholeheartedly. Like she's got much of a problem with the thought of her husband (!) pulling orgasm after orgasm from her using only his obscenely talented mouth.

Rey manages to keep still as Ben carefully works the zipper of her dress down, grateful for his patience. There are times when she doesn't (really) mind his haste and hasn't (really) mourned the scraps of clothing he's torn off her in order to bare her to his gaze (and the rest of him), but this is something special. Not that she thinks she'll wear her lovely wedding dress again, but even if she doesn't, maybe it'll be a nice keepsake to hide away.

(Maybe one day they'll have a daughter, and Rey will share it with her for a special occasion ... )

Then - once he's got his hands on her, appreciating her, Ben spills the details of the honeymoon he's got planned out for them, and it renders her momentarily speechless. It's still incorporating his family - the members that Rey hasn't had the chance to meet yet but has heard so much about, accepting their kindness and spending as much time as they want enjoying their estate and the amenities it provides.

It's ... better than anything she's previously considered it might be. And Rey can't help the tears that well up because it's just so very thoughtful and sweet. More meaningful than a trip to Tahiti or ... anywhere else in the world would have been.

In such close proximity, there's no way Ben will miss the way her breath catches, the subtle tremble that rocks Rey from head to foot as he continues touching her, readying her for the orgasms he's promising to give.]
