[ For someone so intelligent, Megumi sure has his dumb moments.

Rather than replying, Satoru sends him a selfie from his luxurious hotel room. He's laying in bed, shirtless and perhaps more but with the voluminous white sheets strategically draped low over his hips. His face is very pointedly missing from the photo, but Megumi doesn't need to see it to recognize that it is, in fact, Satoru. ]

[ blame it on the late hour and blame it on his clearly Very Misplaced faith in satoru to be above board about even a single conversation they have. it defies reason, and reason is something megumi's intelligence is so deeply rooted in, it sometimes wends all the way back around into obtuseness. impressive if it wasn't stupid, perhaps.

he blinks with due stupidity at the picture, less surprised than he wishes he was.

[ See, the problem here is that Satoru thinks he's being coy, or being bratty, and either is just. Cutetly difficult. So of course he wants to be difficult right back. ]

[ is he referring to the answer? the picture? satoru himself? d. all of the above? unfortunately, this kind of question has the same sort of answer as a question like well how many licks to the center of a tootsie pop? which is to say.....none.

Guess I really will just be enjoying this big bed alone. It would have been better with you at least replying. And you could use the activity to tire out and get your mind off of tomorrow enough to sleep.

[ not, strictly, accurate. but it's true in a sense: thank you for the book. megumi's missions never put him in a place to procure such things, somehow, and it's not like he has much money of his own anyway. ]
