The Superhero's Significant Other Meme

You're just an average Joe (or Joanna, as the case may be). You live a normal, unassuming life and go on with your day-to-day business. There is, however, one thing about you that is a little unusual - besides your sparkling personality.

You're dating a superhero.

So, what's in this week's issue? Are you childhood friends come together? Do you actually know your love is that caped crusader? If you do, is it a thorn in your side that you will always come second to the cause? Of course, there's always going to be that annoying time where they try to "protect" you by breaking up with you. Oh, joy. Well, at least, how's your sex life? Surely those superpowers can make for some interesting bedroom trysts. Maybe after one of them, you can tell your beau that you're a superhero, too.

...but what if your significant other isn't the hero? What if they're the villain?

Comment with your character, preferences, their position (superhero, significant other, either, etc), and comfort level (ie, no smut).

(ooc | Great. Here are some ideas, but we can toss a few back and forth if none of them speak to you.

1.) After FFH, when Peter's identity is out. We can play with this. MJ being support, the two being mobbed, etc
2.) Pre-FFH when MJ and Peter are kinda feeling each other but aren't saying it.
3.) Either canon point, but some bad guy or the other realizes Peter's SM, MJ's his crush, and targets her.

I'm fine with exploring the smut aspect if that's the avenue you want to take or keeping it PG. )

[Perfect golden boy cop boyfriend who brings you roses by day, corrupt supervillain by night. Surprise! He's the notorious supervillain Arbitraitor with disgustingly perfect aim, literal commanding voice, and a habit of fighting superheroes because of his tiny extortion and murder of criminals problem.]

[His only crimes early in the relationship might be that he doesn't talk too much about his feelings and that his gifts always feel a little generic. But he takes you on some incredible trips, he's very driven and intelligent, and damn does he know how to have a good time. But as you get closer, his hours get longer and longer, and his presents get more lavish. There might be a spot of blood on one of them...]

Her name is Amanda Wright. She works at a Starbucks that lies a short walk from her small apartment. She's pretty new in town so she doesn't have that many friends yet, but she started going to a salsa class to maybe change that.

She was an English major in college, and dreams of being a journalist some day, but lacks confidence in her own abilities. She's shy, but sweet. The sort of girl who would absolutely cower in your arms if you wanted to watch a horror movie.

She can't believe a guy like Rico actually wants to be with her. He's just the best, and that is what she tells... anyone who'll listen, really.

Yeah, it's not the worst thing in the world, being Amanda. Natasha has certainly been worse.

She thinks a lot about what Amanda will feel, should it turn out that Rico isn't exactly who he says he is.

She doesn't think about how he might feel if it turns out that he is, and she has to leave a good man broken-hearted. Not because she's in denial about what she's doing, but because she needs to stay focused. There will be time enough for guilt later.

Right now, she's making dinner. Following along with some youtube-cook and humming to herself. He'll be coming over soon.

She was taught well, in the Red Room. She knows how to be this woman, how to act as if this is something she can actually have. Love. Innocence. Dreams of a family, perhaps.

They burned it all out of her, and then put it back in, but all twisted up and hollow. Just tools to be used in order to extract information. To fulfill a mission.

She forces herself to be slow with her knife as she chops vegetables. To not be too precise. Amanda doesn't know how to use that thing to kill in a myriad of ways.

Rico has a key. Could come in at any moment. Amanda is relaxed, trusting. Amanda doesn't want to glance over her shoulder. So Natasha doesn't. ]

[Faint whistling can be heard through the walls long before the key is turned in the door, a jaunty tune that keeps perfect time with the footsteps echoing down the hall. He’s in a good mood, evidently. And why wouldn't he be?

His name is Rico Dredd. He's the strong-jawed son of a populist senator martyred in a drive-by shooting, graduated from Yale only to turn around and become a beat cop in New York. The hallmarks of a modern American feel-good story, but he's determined not to coast by on his last name. Moved to New York to get away from it, not that he talks about it much.

He's a nice guy. Genial to just about everyone, if a little too competitive at times. Sure, he laughs a little too loud at some jokes, seemingly at random. But he's the kind of guy who whisks you away for spa days and pays for your salsa classes because he thinks it'll be good for you. He listens to your budding dreams and says you can do it. He'll wrap his arm around your shoulders walking down the street at night, and stare down anyone who looks for too long. He's protective like that.

Rico works in a profession that gives him respect, and has a total sweetheart of a leggy girlfriend who doesn't mind that he mixes up what her favorite flowers are.

He thinks they're roses. The last one was roses.]

Hey Mandy. Looks like I made it this time!

[He enters the apartment, his broad shoulders and earnest smile partially hidden behind a shockingly large bouquet of flowers. Of course he’s got a nickname for her. His perpetual inability to use her actual name is never something Amanda is bothered by, unlike other people. She’s just too nice for that.

Mandy is too nice for a lot of things, really, and that’s why Rico spoils her.]
