[ It had been hard on Yachiyo at first. There was a part of her that wasn't sure that what had occurred was something that could be forgiven and forgotten. Mifuyu had been a part of the Wings of Magius, after all, and because of her countless others had been drawn in. Because of her, her precious friends had far too many brushes with death.
Yet if it weren't for Mifuyu, none of them would be here. It's because of Mifuyu that her friends were able to escape, that they were able to save Tsuruno, and it was because of Mifuyu's sacrifice that their plans had fallen apart so spectacularly.
But none of that is really why she's forgiven her so quickly. Those things are just a consequence of who she is. They're things that Yachiyo loves and has missed. Her mere presence had left a gaping wound in her heart that it seemed only she could fill.
When she's here, their small yet lively home feels complete.
The others had already gone to sleep, and now it's only Yachiyo and Mifuyu. It was already late, and Tsuruno had thoughtlessly blurted out that Mifuyu should stay. Iroha had chimed in, and by time Yachiyo considered the implications it was already too late for her to object to those kind and considerate girls.
She doesn't mind, though, really. She walks out to the living room where Mifuyu is sitting on the sofa, holding a pair of steaming mugs of coffee, having offered it upon realizing that it would be a long night. It makes her feel lonely to see them - just two. Just two, when there should be four. It makes her heart ache to see the empty places where Kanae and Mel should be.
But Mifuyu is there, and it eases her heartache a bit, enough to smile. She sets her own mug down, one that she hasn't used very often lately. The other, she holds out to Mifuyu.
It's a familiar mug. One that's sat in the cupboard for what felt like an eternity, clean and dusted and well-cared for, patiently awaiting the return of its owner.
Yachiyo hadn't thought she was ready. Not at first. But now, for whatever complicated and difficult feelings she might still harbor... It's a blessing just to be able to say those words again: ]
[ It is certainly a little strange to be back in the boarding home. Honestly, even after atoning as much as she could, she wasn't sure if it would be okay if she came back. But she was welcomed so quickly... by all of them... by Yacchan...
So here she is: staying over late with her favorite mug in her hands. It's almost like she never left. Almost...
But hearing Yacchan speak so sweetly to her like that... it makes her heart flutter and swell. It feels so good to heart her speak so calmly to her. ]
Yacchan... thank you for letting me back. It's really good to be home.
[ Almost. It feels like they're young again, leaning on each other for support. But their world has grown and changed, and there's little tinges of anxiety that she might disappear again - that things might change. But there's hope, too, and a warm and grateful feeling, like a part of her heart is being slotted back into place. She did love her family, but... Mifuyu had filled a role that no one else could.
Sitting next to her like this, it strikes her all at once, and the smile seems to be plastered on her face. When was the last time she'd felt this kind of happiness...? ]
Mm. You were gone for a long time, but... It's really like you never left.
[ She chuckles. It's not an exaggeration. She'd already been pulled in by all sides - well, mostly Tsuruno and Felicia. Those two were a little too rambunctious. ]
Are you feeling okay? They didn't push you too hard, did they?
[ There's a note of concern to her voice - the immediate danger has passed, but... After nearly losing her, Yachiyo can't help but worry. ]
[ For Mifuyu, it's not quite the same unfortunately. It does feel like she's been gone too long... but mostly because she spent so much time wasted. Yes, the filter system for the city is good. But she knows joining the Wings of the Magius was a mistake, and one she can't full take back.
That being said, she's trying not to dwell heavily in it because she has been forgiven for the most part. And now Mifuyu's home and doing her best to help now. That's all she really can do now. ]
Oh no, not at all. I love the energy of your new team! You're such a wonderful group of Magical Girls, and I can tell they've been really good for you.
