⚜ The Interuniverse Inn ⚜

It's your friendly local watering hole. Well... maybe not so local. But on a night like tonight, when the weather is terrible, when you really need a drink, the sympathetic ear of a bartender or a place to wait out the storm, you'll find just the place you need.

The Inn is a place at the crossroads of many different worlds, where people from the past, present, future, and the universe next door can gather. There's a crackling fireplace with couches and chairs nearby where patrons tell stories and jokes and warm their bones. The bar is very long, with tall barstools lining the counter and more taps than you can count at a glance. And if you have a bit too much -- or meet someone you'd like to get to know better -- just head up the stairs, where the inn has rooms to let.


The ambiance is warm and the waitstaff are attentive. Sure, that person sitting next to you might be a little odd compared to what you're used to, but what an excuse to strike up a conversation, right? Take a load off. Quench your thirst. Share your story.
Inspired by Callahan's Crosstime Saloon, the Restaurant at the End of the Universe, and the Worlds' End Inn, here's a setting to facilitate all your cross-canon CR, your one-night-stands, and your drinking games. Pick a starter from the list! Tag out! Have fun!



BARTENDING: you're more than a regular, you're the familiar face behind the bar, polishing glasses and lending an ear to the patrons' sob stories. What'll it be?

MAKE A TOAST: raise a glass to something you're celebrating, something you're mourning, or whatever's on your mind. If the spirit moves you, toss your glass in the fireplace! You'll feel better.
STORYTELLING: everyone here has a story to tell, and that storm outside is still going strong. Why not share a tall tale to pass the time?
KARAOKE: don't be fooled by the rustic atmosphere. We've got modern conveniences! Get some liquid courage and give us your go-to karaoke jam.
BAR BRAWL: ooops. Someone's had a little too much to drink and is getting a little too loud. Things are getting tense. Are some heads gonna get knocked?

It might take him a minute to realize this isn't a normal kind of bar. But once he does, it's not going to shake him at all. Dude can see ghosts, and has been full of every party drug known to man at various times.

More than likely he can be found at the bar or in one of those comfortable chairs near the fire, but if he's had a few, he might be over at the karaoke machine...

It's been a long night. Muldoon didn't realise this until Klaus fired up the karaoke machine. As soon as he opened his mouth there it was: It had become a long, dreadful night and Muldoon wanted nothing better than blissful quiet and many, many more drinks.

He's polite enough to wait for the signs that one song is about to finish before he stands, striding over quick as can be to head Klaus off before he can pick another. In this regard he's somewhat hoping that somewhere between the raptor scars, the serious face and putting a hand on the machine he might actually scare the man off. Hopefully.

"If you sing one more bloody song..." He's going to lose his mind.

It's not her first visit, probably not just her second, either, but she likes this bar as well as any other. She can probably be found playing darts and maybe hustling pool, though she's not particularly good at either.

She prefers the tall tables so she has a better vantage point for movement in the crowd, but could probably be found at the bar proper, as well.

After while spent in the corner, watching patrons of all shapes and sizes occasionally relaxing enough to read the file he had with him, Muldoon has surmised that this place was relatively safe. At least, safe enough for him to be tempted by the darts board.

When had he last had a go at darts? The woman at the board seems fairly normal, too, all things considered. Probably more normal than him from what he can see. Unless she also has scars liberally etched into her face.

So Muldoon picks up his glass and his papers, relocating them to a table closer by the board. He waits patiently for her to finish her round before catching her attention, gesturing at the board. "May I?"

While she's reasonably sure this isn't the same location she turned in her job application at, nobody's stopped her from ringing up and serving drinks yet, so she's going to just keep doing that.

Her nametag reads 'Red', though it's anyone's guess as to why, since she's a brunette and not a redhead, but she'll answer to it, and she mixes a mean drink, definitely knows what she's doing.

There's one particular speakeasy door downtown that reliably leads here instead of somewhere else, and while it doesn't feel like somebody's Shine, it's still got that edge to it.

Despite that, it's one of the few places she knows is safe, because she can draw the tiles here without causing the power to flicker and without her stutter getting worse, though the predictions are as cryptic as ever, that hasn't changed.

She usually sets up shop in one of the back booths, fortunes read for a drink.

Every once in a while, the back door that usually led out to the alley behind the shop led here instead, and she usually took that as a sign that she'd been working too hard and it was time for a break.

Considering that she'd been running year-end junk drawer swap-meets all week, it was definitely time for a break.

She's always got a story to tell, and while she might not look like much, she can, and will, drink any of you sprogs under the table if you try her.

This is... definitely not Maz's place. But they've got Corellian red-band, an excellent array of snacks, and as far as he could tell -and most importantly- no bounty hunters.

Not that he thought there were any reasonable bounties out for him at the moment, but he was a Solo, there was always going to be at least one just because of that fact alone.

Meng Yao has done several odd jobs after being released from serving his previous employer. There is always a tavern, tea house or other establishment looking for able bodied workers and that's how he ended up tending the bar here.

Despite having been newly tossed into this job he warms up to it quickly. He knows how to be a people person and they tend to tell you all sorts of things while in their cups. And information is always useful even if it's not always obvious in the moment.

He's been here before, he likes it here, they've got more milkshake flavors than he ever knew existed, and they're all delicious, at least so far. He makes it a point to have at least one new one whenever he ends up here again.

He likes pinball, and most of the other arcade machines, so can probably be found with the games when he's not enjoying the aforementioned milkshake.

Coda has a habit of lingering around the arcade machines, but never touching them, as if trying to make sure none of them hurt anyone, as if trying to be sure that a certain machine doesn't show up. So perhaps the TARDIS has seen them before. Tonight, though, they're eyeing a machine that's covered with a sheet, an out-of-order sign on it, as though they suspect it's dangerous.

"Do you know which one that is?" Their voice is very audibly inhuman, sounding like something recorded on some low-fidelity medium and being played back, with static crackles and pops.

He landed here a while ago and hasn't had reason to leave. His skills are useful here, and it's been a while since he needed to use most of his cooking skills, he missed it. Which is probably part of the reason he's still here.

He definitely keeps an eye on most of the bar through the pass-thru though, and has been known to play bouncer on occasion.

Eric doesn't drink alcohol anymore, but the bartender's picked up on this and always has a bottle of some odd regional soda around to offer him--everything from Florida's Mr. Q. Cumber to Green River from Illinois to Crater Lake Apple Ginger Soda out of North Dakota. The sodas (and floats made out of said sodas) are only half the reason Eric shows up, though; he's always on the lookout for other musicians and singers interested in a jam session.

Not a musician, not a singer, and in fact his humming is a little off-key at times...but the dark-haired man behind the counter serving drinks with cold grey eyes and a ferocious scowl has a certain haunting huskiness to his humming, in little snatches as he dries glasses.

He's just here on a favor for a friend, anyway.

For the first time in his goddamn life, Mayfeld is seriously trying to stay out of trouble. There's nothing like the threat of cold showers and scrap heap work for another fifty years to keep a guy's nose clean. So yeah, he's laying low. Participating in legitimate business ventures. Enjoying life being bored and broke as shit.

Doesn't mean he can't go out for a drink now and then.

And honestly, it's pretty unfair of Mando to come waltzing into the bar where he's trying to mind his own business, looking like the most conspicuous shiny-ass motherfucker in the world. Mayfeld is trying to lay low in the ass-end of the galaxy, and Mando always ends up bringing trouble.

Kriff, he needs another drink.

Mayfeld downs the shot he's been nursing in the back booth and sidles over to the bar, sliding in next to the armoured man and waving the bartender over for another two drinks.

"If you're here to drag me back to the scrap heap, I'd appreciate a head start. We both know I ain't much in close range and you look like a guy who likes to play fair."

It's anyone's guess where the silver-blue-haired, faintly-glowing waitress came from originally, but she's been here for ages now, and she's good at what she does, refills delivered and empty dishes taken away almost unnoticed.

She's always easy to flag down, and sometimes takes a stint behind the bar herself, when it's busy and they need another pair of hands.

Once in a while she Opens a door here instead of the tavern she intends to walk into, but it's always a pleasant surprise. She likes the place, and can usually be found near the fire, or playing a friendly game of cards or even darts.

She's been known to play whatever tournament is going on from time to time as well, and makes the occasional bet on whatever sporting event is being broadcast.

This little guy absolutely loves the arcade machines, so much so in fact that he's become the unofficial mechanic, if one of them is going wrong, chances are good that he's on hand to fix it right up.

He's also insanely good at repairing small electronics, and while he doesn't have any kind of official shop set up, regulars know how to find him, and that he happily accepts payment in appetizers.

One thing Darcy really likes about this place is that it's virtually always nighttime, which means that she can be a Figure Of Fun at all hours. Something she absolutely lives for, despite the fact that she's not really living these days.

Which is to say she'll take a turn around the karaoke machine, a turn across any kind of dance space that's been set up, and even a turn as live entertainment for a time, on occasions when there's a stage out.

Mostly he bussed tables and refilled condiment caddies, but occasionally, when it was busy, he ran orders to the kitchen as well, which meant he was a fixture of the tavern as much as anyone else was, and was generally easy to find if needed.

Traveling interdimensionally certainly isn't new. Neither are wild storms that knock everything off course. The bar is new though. And certainly a pleasant novelty.

She stands out a bit, even in a room of eclectic strangers. A tall, muscular woman in a brightly colored suit, tiara and bracelets glinting in the firelight. She sits at the bar and falls into conversation easily. And just as easily wades into any fights that break to physically separate combatants if need be.

It was crowded, and loud - none of those particularly bad things, especially in a place like this, but it certainly made it hard to find somewhere to sit.

Ganymede might have gravitated towards Diana either way - she'd made a little empty circle around herself, which people drifted in and out of, but she was afforded more space than the premium real estate around the bar would usually allow. She also stood out in a way that easily caught the eye, certainly. Neither of those were the reasons Ganymede ended up standing by the barstool next to Diana's.

No, the reason was some strange sense of familiarity, though he could swear he didn't recognize her in the least. Just something that reminded him strangely of home in the middle of a very strange bar that definitely did not, as interesting as the place was.

"May I sit? This place is pretty crowded." Ganymede's smile was lopsided, but relaxed. The light in his eyes revealed his interest, however.

Well, it's certainly a friendlier bar than most of the establishments she's gotten drunk in over the past several sweeps, even if the clientele runs heavily alien. Or maybe because the clientele runs heavily alien. Jetshard hasn't got any illusions about how poorly her own species generally does at Playing Well With Others.

Not that Jetshard herself is making any great waves tonight. Or most nights, really, as a medic she tends to view picking fights as making more unnecessary work for herself. She nurses a drink at the bar, watching the room through tinted glasses that make it a little hard to pick out what the exact hue of her eyes might be.

Once Neriel got over her initial assumption that Crowley had done some drastic redecorating, she got to liking the idea of this little nexus. It's certainly a more welcoming one than Heaven or (she assumes) Hell, and therefor more than worth the occasional visit.

She can most often be found by the fireplace, people-watching and very occasionally having a glass of water. Even more rarely than that will she actually order food; that's not her Earthly vice of choice. That is readily apparent to anyone with ears, whether she braves the karaoke or is just providing ambient background noise without really thinking about it.

(Human music is fascinating, and that she only discovered this by defecting from Heaven is making her more and more frustrated with the Archangels, along with... everything else.)

If a fight breaks out, she wades directly into the aftermath to patch everyone up, and it's there that her otherworldliness is the most apparent to human patrons. Most of Neriel's eccentricities read like she fled a very weird cult, but even the weirdest of cults can't explain her considerable healing magic. Or the wings, when she pops those out.

(OOC: While I would love same-timeline thread shenanigans, my default assumption for Good Omens folks is 'separate timelines.' Any flirtation will be met with polite confusion, then polite rejection; she's spoken for. Twice over. XD)

After an embarassing incident at a bar involving commemorative holiday coins, Antonio's kind of relieved to find some place that serves drinks and takes any form of currency. Sure, the inn is a little strange... Then again, anyone who took a good look at him could see he's rather strange himself.

It's fine. He won't bite. Much.

No, he's here for the wine, for it seems liquor is his sole companion these days... Though he definitely wouldn't mind drinking with a beautiful woman if she appreciates his music.

Speaking of, if he's not attempting to drink himself into oblivion he's providing background music on the violin. He's happy to show off his devilish skills, using his own hair to play an instrument that's missing most of its strings with precision and ease. You can even ask him to play the soundtrack to your karaoke solo if you wish. Just, maybe tip him first? Or buy him a drink? He likes to feel appreciated.

Oh, and one last thing. If the evening is disrupted by a fight, you may find yourself disoriented or pained by visible red music notes. They didn't put the puppet of music with the hunters for nothing...

Mithrax, Kell of Light | Destiny 2

This place is not like the nightclub in the Tangled Shore. There is no Servitor to provide ether yet the human behind the bar has it. There are all sorts of other drinks and strangers around.

Mithrax sticks out because he towers over most of the bar's patrons. None seem to be Guardians or servants of the Great Machine at first glance but as he is unsure how he arrived here in the first place there might be some.

For now, he is simply content to watch and wait.

Tommy, who had been working his way through the bar to take a piss in the men's (men's? probably? the bathroom situation was pretty weird here.) bathroom gets distracted by some stupendously tall weirdo and takes a step back in mock-shock, and cranes his head up. He even raises his shades slightly as if in disbelief, and lowers them again.

"Hey there, tall, shiny, and spiky. How'd you even fit in through the door? Did you go in sideways?"

He's not even trying to be an asshole, and yet.
