The Hanahaki Disease Meme

The Hanahaki Disease is an illness born from one-sided love, where the patient throws up and coughs up flower petals when they suffer from one-sided love. The infection can be removed through surgery, but the feelings disappear along with the petals...

1- Discovery:
There's the one person who makes your heart leap into your throat- but wait, that's not your heart. Where are all these flowers coming from? And why do they remind you of your beloved?

2- Concern:
Someone you know has been acting strange lately... Coughing a lot, hiding their hands all the time... It's enough to make anybody worry.

3- Sicker and Sicker:
Coughing up flower petals all the time isn't easy to hide. But it's getting harder to even breathe, now. You're going to have to make a decision, and soon...

4- Confession:
Everyone knows that there's two ways to get rid of Hanahaki: Surgery (the risk dependent on the time period), or confessing your feelings. Time to toe up and face your beloved and just tell them that you love them so much you're dying from it.

5- Post-Op:
The other option... You just couldn't tell them, but you weren't ready to die. Still, without those feelings the world seems a little less colorful. Can you still be friends with them now that you have to start all over? Do you want to?

6- Make your own!
There's flower petals coming out of somebody's mouth in some way for some reason- make this prompt your own.

Just as a note, due to the nature of the meme vivid descriptions of coughing/choking/gagging are probably going to happen. If you want it toned down, make sure to put that in your top-level.

[As far as Chrysalis ("Angelique" for those that choose to not call her by a "nickname") was concerned, it had been hate on first sight. Or hate after a few words. Her first encounter with prosecutor Miles Edgeworth was at the police department, he was there protesting at Detective Gumshoe about a slow job or something. An investigation that wasn't going fast enough for his tastes, basically, she hadn't really paid attention to him, instead being busy checking profiles for the case Gaff was investigating while sitting on top of the detective's desk. And she would have kept not paying attention if not because apparently, the presence of a "random" eighteen year old flipping through profiles was enough to grab Miles' attention. What really drove her up the walls, though, was when he dared to say that Gaff barely did any work, because no case he worked on ended with a suspect put on trial. It seemed that in the prosecutor's opinion, Gaff could go and help on whatever case was going slow instead of wasting time with a teenager that should be home.

Maybe those weren't the exact words. Nor the exact message. But it was what Chrysalis gathered and it made her want to grab the man and throw him at one of the suspects in their cases. See how he tries to put to trial a giant human eating demon toad!

Gaff told her to forget it and began to pick on some cases that were "normal" as he called them and wouldn't end in some supernatural confrontation between Chrysalis and another demon. Detective Gumshoe told her to forget it too, giving excuses about the prosecutor being on edge lately because a lot of cases had been ending with "Not Guilty" verdicts and with the actual murderer having been overlooked by the investigation. Or something like that. Chrysalis didn't care, she still hated his guts, and his face, and those stupid frills he wore at his neck, who did he think he was? She didn't stop going to the police department or working in cases -even if now some were clearly not the type she was interested in-, of course, so she kept meeting the prosecutor and with each encounter no matter how brief, all she wanted to do was punch him in the face and rip those frills from his neck.

It didn't help that she began to attend the trials in which he participated, but she had to go and watch them! After all, she knew how the department worked, so she was sure that the blame wasn't in the investigation but on "Mr. Frills" being incompetent. He wasn't as incompetent as she expected but he also was much more stubborn and narrow sighted than she thought, always with objections and updates autopsies and whatever he could use to just keep insisting the culprit was whoever they had picked even when it was obviously not the case. Then he was accused of murder himself and Chrysalis got a cold that had her coughing every now and then. Then he vanished and rumours said he had killed himself, and her cold got worse, with the coughing fits often bringing red flower petals with them.

By the time she met Miles Edgeworth again, she had gotten used to the coughing fits and the petals. She also was on the stage where hidding it was impossible so she didn't even bother with it, fortunately being a demon made the illness unable to truly kill her so all she had to do was claim that she wasn't as ill as it seemed.

Today he has actually won the case he was prosecuting and Chrysalis makes her way after the trial to congratulate him for it. Pure professional courtesy, of course, even if everyone likes to remind her constantly that she's not a professional, but just a random girl that apparently likes to do detective work without getting paid or going through the police academy. Still, the case had been tricky and, as much as she hated him, Miles was far from incompetent so she feels he deserves it. Even if he may not care about her opinion.]

[The biggest problem of this illness, and something she hadn't counted on, is that being in front of Miles actually makes her have worse coughing fits. So she barely is able to offer a few words before being cut by a choking sound and a coughing fit that makes flower petals spill from her hands. It would look like a pretty magic trick if not because everyone knows that it is an illness.]
