The summer heat filled every nook and cranny of King’s Landing and, of course, the Red Keep was no exception. It had been a little over a year since the defeat of the White Walkers and Cersei Lannister and in that time, Jon still hadn’t grown used to these Southron summers or to the lavishness of the castle. There seemed to be no escaping it, not even early in the mornings when he rose, as was his custom, and felt his skin still damp.

Yet it was not the sun’s heat that Jon felt most intensely. That seemed a bare candle flame compared to the dragonfire that roared inside him, the lesser heat barely worth paying attention to. When he woke, it was always with Dany in his arms, soft, warm, his, and all he had to do was look upon her and he would know what it was to want a woman with such intensity that he could do nothing but act upon his desire. It was like this constantly, even throughout the day; all he had to do was gaze upon her, whether she was holding court or supping with her men or simply laughing at a jest told by some lordling, and he would want nothing more than to grab her hand and tug her into the closest chamber to kiss her breathless and, eventually, do far more than kiss her.

He often busied himself by training in the yard or helping attend to other duties so that she’d have all the time needed to actual run the kingdom they’d fought so hard to save, but in the early dawn, when they were both nude and there was nothing else to do but enjoy one another? Jon had no such restraint.

By the time she woke, his mouth was already pressing hot, wet kisses against her belly, dipping dangerously low. Their covers were already discarded to the side, no sheets left to cover either one of them, and Jon grinned up at her when he saw that her eyes had opened. “Good morning, Dany,” he murmured, both of his hands resting lightly against her hips, “I trust you slept well?
