your princess It's fairly simple, really, no royalty required. One of you is the "princess:" sweet, gentle, possibly energetic, always full of life and innocence. The other is the "knight:" stoic, or at least serious about protecting that one special person, dedicated, strong, a fighter. And the two of you are in love, even if one...less expressive than the other. Together romantically or not, there's something that connects you, most likely a driving need to protect. But don't let the normal conventions full you, the "princess" (or "prince," as it may be, because the terms here are gender neutral) is just as important. Someone has look to the emotional well-being and happiness of the "knight," and often, those "knights" need a lot of help. Comment with your character and preferences. Be sure to include which role you'd like to play. Reply to others.

It begins with a game

It started with a board, the pieces arranged as if the occupants had left midgame. The Prince was nowhere to be found, and the room was in a state of light disarray, but that was not unusual for someone as eccentric as the prince was reputed to be.

A knock came from the door to the room, despite it already being open. Less a request to be let in and more the young woman standing in the door announcing herself.

"Prince Morgan?"

Nah's eyes flickered around the room, confusion on her face as she realized her charge didn't appear to be in sight. That was concerning... though not necessarily for the usual reasons a sworn protector might be worried.

If Morgan wasn't visible, it meant he could be up to anything, after all.

Stepping cautiously into the room, Nah's head turned to peer to the left, then the right, trying to spy out the mischievous royal. But nothing. Her eyes turned straight ahead as she stepped in closer, taking in the mild mess, but more importantly the board in the middle of the room. That was definitely not an accident.

Frowning in thought, Nah moved closer to it, peering down. "Okay, Morgan," she muttered, less formally than she'd spoken while entering. "What are you trying to tell me?"

Morgan, of course had hidden himself in the wardrobe, peeking out in order to witness the actions of his guard. He was certain to remain still as he spied on the manakete.

He had set the board up in such a way that if Nah paid attention, she could win in one move. A prank set up under the table though should she pick the wring move.

'I'm not trying to tell you anything. Just having some fun before I have to become a Prince again.' He would think to himself.

Despite her superhuman hearing, Nah couldn't so much as detect the breath of her prince. But then, Morgan knew her pointy ears weren't just for show, so that didn't necessarily mean anything.

Blocking out those distracting thoughts, Nah thought over the setup of the board. The game was, of course, one of Morgan's many favorites, and though she wasn't a master player herself, Nah definitely thought she reached at least the level of above average. If only because she got so much practice playing against the prince.

The thing was, she was looking for some sort of metaphor, a deeper meaning behind what Morgan had set up. And as a result, she completely missed what should have been obvious. Rather than take the winning move, she picked up a knight piece and moved it over to stand next to the nearest royal.

"Right where they belong." She declared, not realizing she'd just ensured her own downfall. Or at least embarrassment.
