But I'm glad you found happiness here.

[ He is sorry he couldnβt help Robb with everything going on at home though, that everything had fallen apart. ]
Thank you. Hopefully we can get Winterfell back, and you can find happiness too.

But I will get Sansa back. And Theon will pay for what he did to our brothers.

But yes. We will see our family safe, and those who have passed avenged.

Easier said than done, but thank you. I just wish I knew how to proceed. We need an army, but the Boltons have the North under their control and I don't have enough coin to secure us a fleet. [ This would've been a good time for a marriage alliance but... even if he says he's dead, he still considers himself Jeyne's husband, okay? He might as well be an Egyptian, with the way he thinks. ]

You canβt go back and undo what you did, but you can do right by her now. And right is being honest with her about being alive, letting her decide if she is happier with or without you.
Weβll figure it out. Iβm sure we can call bannermen in the North with your name if they knew you were alive. Men to stand behind the Stark name. [ Until he talks to Jeyne, Jon considers him married too, but then his vows to Selene were permanent as was custom in Egypt. This life and the next. Death wouldnβt seperate them. So he had a skewed view of things. ]

I might have better luck securing a loan from the Iron Bank to acquire a sellsword army than convincing the Northern houses to rally behind me again. I've already doomed them once. Do you know how many of the lords and their heirs were killed at the Twins?

Let me put it this way for you. One way or another, if we succeed in saving Sansa and taking Winterfell back from the Boltons, she's going to learn you are alive. Do you want to hurt her further by having her find out through gossip, or actually talk to her before anyone else can tell her that you are alive and are purposefully avoiding her?
They knew what they were signing up for when they joined you in marching South, Robb. That is always the risk of war. They backed you because they believed in you, and I have a feeling most would back you again if they knew you were back and continuing on. And I have heard some rumors, but not the full numbers, no.

[ He won't be moved, Jon. Not today. ]
Easy for you to say. You've not had people dying because of your decisions. You've not had to order them to march to their deaths. Aye, it is always the risk of war, but it doesn't make it any easier to swallow.
They did not back me because they believed in me. They fought me every step of the way, pursued their own agenda even as they marched by my side. You know what they called me, after what happened at the Twins? The King Who Lost the North. Our bannermen, Jon. You should have seen how fast they declared for the Boltons.

[ It doesn't have to be today that Robb sees that Jon is right. But it's a promise right now, that Robb isn't getting out of, short of death. Also something Jon will see Robb doesn't die again. ]
I'm standing next to and leading the defense against the Romans as much as Selene is, so I would be very careful to tell me what I'm not doing when you're still learning my role here, brother. I'm not just Selene's husband and bed partner, I'm her strategist. And those soldiers we send out to defend this city are as much a weight on my shoulders as the Northern lords are on yours. I do understand that pressure, and that guilt when they don't come home.
And how much of declaring for the Boltons do you think was to save their house from further war because their King was dead? When the Targaryens came back when, our house saw it smart enough to kneel instead of die, in order to preserve the House, even if they didn't fully want to or believe in the King they were now serving. It's not so hard to believe that they did the same, nor is it hard to believe if they have a Stark banner to rally behind again, they would do so. Because there are those still loyal, and it's understandable to take the option that leaves you breathing another day, the option that leaves you ready to back the right King and Lord when and if he returns.
