You have much to learn.
![]() From the moment we begin our lives, we're learning. It's imperative to surviving, to growing - don't walk in the shadows, it's dangerous, don't touch the fire, you'll be hurt. These days, most continue to hone this natural instinct with formal schooling, but that's certainly not the end all, be all of knowledge. If you go to school or not, if you have the opportunity or otherwise, you won't stop sharpening your mind after those formative years. That's just not the way our incredible brains work. You, specifically, have actually decided to something equally incredible: you want to really dedicate yourself to learning a skill, and what better way than an apprenticeship? Formal or informal, you're under someone's tutelage, absorbing everything they can teach, growing closer to them in the process... ...unfortunately, though, you've gained a little something extra with that bite from the fruit of knowledge. You've fallen for your mentor. Do you realize this pitfall immediately, or will you have to learn the hard way?

Samuel Solomon / Y the Mystic ✨ Superhero OC m/f
While I'm down for the obvious approach of Sam having the apprentice, but what I'd really love would be Sam being an adult apprenticed to an older master, preferably in the ancient immortal type that really wasn't expecting to catch feelings for a brief little mortal.

Naito Eiji 👹 OC
I'd enjoy a dark take on this in which Eiji is training someone to become a killer in preparation for turning them into a demon themselves.

Victor knows he's not supposed to get into his mentor's things without the older man being there. There's far too much he still doesn't understand. He still has so much to learn. While his analytical mind has picked up the science of what Professor Dearborn does, Victor still doesn't have much in the way of "faith". He could easily do something and make things worse because of that lack.
But his shadows have come back to haunt him again.
He's seen the looming figure in the fog more and more often. He doesn't think it has anything to do with the needle. No. He's certain it's real. The Creature has come back again. For what, he doesn't know, but Victor is desperate to have the tools he needs to get his creation gone. Whatever demon he brought to life, he needs to banish.
He pages desperately through notes and books that are in Professor Dearborn's private study. He'd let himself in with the key he had earned only a few weeks prior. He shouldn't be challenging that trust. Because he does like the professor. He likes the man a lot. He's one of the few people in Victor's life that he truly enjoys being around.
The man is brilliant. He's handsome. He's interesting in so many ways and he's been patient at teaching him about demons and exorcism. He hasn't felt this way about anyone since...well, since last time he had been in college, before he had built the Creature.
He feels a bit guilty about using that key and going through the man's things, but he is desperate. "Where would he have put it..." He wonders softly, thumbing through another book, looking for a ritual he remembers the professor talking about.
