[ i have a similarly terrible criminal here that might get along well with yours (or... not...), so i was thinking angelo could be sent to amsterdam to try and forge a business relationship between his family and de groot's business – or the inverse if you want marcel to come to america? either way i'm thinking some sort of preamble to a business meeting at a club/bar or something with those stromae vibes 👀 ]

[ i like the idea of angelo dropping by amsterdam and doing business. nightclub setting would be ideal for those stromae tunes as you say - and make room for both dialogue and action, depending on how the thread develops. would you be willing to start? ]

[ Angelo hasn't been in Amsterdam for long, but he doesn't hate it as much as he'd expected he would. He's never been this far north in Europe before, and he was expecting it to be cold and grey and unpleasant, which it is, but he's discovering that there are worse things than cold and grey and unpleasant. For example, clubs. Angelo has no patience for nightclubs, and the worst thing is that he gets the feeling somebody made a decision to bring him to this place because they expected he would feel differently. He spent about five minutes surrounded by the pulsing thrum of music, which went right to a cluster headache right between his brows, and then made an excuse and squeezed his way through the crowds and out of a back door so he can smoke.

It's dark out, and he leans against the wall, the music muffled through the brick now. Marcel, he thinks his name is Marcel, came with him. Maybe he's been told to keep an eye on Angelo in advance of actual business, or maybe he doesn't like the music much either. Maybe he just wants a cigarette. ]

So what's he like? [ he asks after a stalwart minute of silence where all he does is puff out smoke like an old-fashioned steam train. ] Your boss.

[ It's always big fucking business when the Italians make themselves known, be they from the Sicilian or the American branch. Maybe it's even worse when it's the Americans, because de Groot is enamoured as fuck with the US and less so with actual Italy. Means he wants to show off whenever the opportunity presents itself, yeah. Means more fucking work. Marcel doesn't mind. Most of the American dynasties he's worked with have been alright - granted, he hasn't had to kill any of them yet, so that probably plays into the equation, too. He's okay with math. He sees profit and credit where it's due.

Angelo obviously doesn't like the nightclub they've taken him to. Marcel fucking told de Groot it would be a bad idea, starting out in one of those places. It's too loud and too showy, look at our drugs, look at our ladies. Far be it from Marcel to be sophisticated, sure, but he isn't a bloated whale like de Groot, at least. Lo and behold, Angelo's gone in a flash, Marcel only catching sight of him on the way out the back because he's got fucking eyes, right? Shit.

He follows. Positions himself at a polite distance and watches the other man light his smoke. Doesn't grab for one himself, doesn't move much, not even to acknowledge the question. What's he like, your boss?

A pain in the ass, but what can you do. Marcel shrugs. ]
