unexpected domesticity shipping meme. you never thought you'd have a home, at least not one you can call completely yours, no strings attached and no one lording above you or controlling you. you may not have even known what a "home" truly is, or thought you wanted one. now, there is a touch of domesticity in your life, no matter what things are like otherwise, because you have a home, though you may not have a house proper.
most importantly, you now have someone to share this new facet of life with - a partner. similar to you or completely different, relationship unspoken or unrealized, heavily romantic or understated, they are slowly but surely becoming someone indispensable to you. you never could have seen this coming. and, of course, with domesticity comes a certain amount of intimacy, perhaps even the ultimate physical intimacy...you may be open to that already or you're working up to it when you'd hardly considered it before.

Now that they were out of high school and most of his friends had wheels of their own, they were prone to crashing at his place, taking advantage of the hospitality that he only extended to them, and one other person.
Who he was expecting any time now that he was off work, and he had to convince them to go home before she could arrive and be waylaid and distracted by all of them being there in the same place. It was inevitable that that kind of thing, given how much they all cared about her, and vice versa, but dammit, he'd been trying to find time to be alone with her in a non-life-threatening situation for...fuck, since he'd graduated and finally told her outright how he felt. It really shouldn't be this hard to set up time to hang out with someone!
His place isn't anything impressive of course, and he can't really cook anything fancy, his kitchen tiny and really only serving as a storage space for instant things and simple ingredients. Maybe they could improvise something? ...Could Yamaguchi even cook? He almost texts her to ask if she wants takeout, but psychs himself out and ends up sitting in front of the tv, crippled by indecision.
She honestly loved being a teacher, getting the reward of watching her students grow (when they weren't being stupid), but some weeks she was really glad to be done. This was one of them, and honestly meant it was a very good thing Shin had contacted her to come over; at least he didn't do stupid shit as a norm.
She'd been looking forward to it so much that somehow everything seemed to want to work against her arriving soon after Shin would have gotten home. Though it at least had ended up with her being able to score some food from Minoru. No way in hell did she know much about food prep and there was no promises the others did either or even had ingredients at Shin's to cook.
Because, yes, Shin had admitted his feelings, and she kind of had while half conscious, but she was still dense enough to think that when invited by Shin the others would be there.
So on arrival at the familiar apartment, Yankumi is sort of kicking at the door so she doesn't have to set the food in her hands down, calling out to the resident inside.
"Hey, I'm here! Open up and help me, I've got my hands full."
