Warning: Be aware that this meme deals with dark subjects like slavery and may also contain non-consensual/dubiously consensual sex, violence, and kink.

SLAVES

1. The Newbie - This is your very first auction and you don't quite know what to expect. Hopefully you remember your training and don't disgrace yourself in front of your new master. Hopefully someone thinks you're worth buying at all.

2. The Oldtimer - You've been bought and sold and bought again so many times. You've seen it all before and don't think this time is going to be much different. In fact, the only real anxiety you've got is whether or not someone's going to pay for a more than slightly used slave.

3. The Pet - You're a pleasure slave. A bed warmer. A decorative piece of artwork. You're meant to look pretty and be pleasing and not much else.

4. The Guard - Your master hired you because of your ability to swing a sword or shoot a gun, not your looks.

5. The Escape Artist - Somehow you always manage to squirm out of your master's chains. Too bad you seem to get caught after a while. Maybe your next daring escape will be permanent. Then again, maybe your next master has special ways of keeping you locked up.

6. The Undercover - You aren't a slave at all, you're just pretending to be one. Why? Well that's up to you. Either way, your cover is blown if you don't act the part.

7. The Specialist - You have a skill that no one else has. Something rare and valuable. Something your master needs more than anything else.

MASTERS

1. The Customer - You've owned slaves before and this trip to the market is nothing new to you. Still, you're hoping to find something worth your while.

2. The Gift - Someone bought a pet for you, isn't that nice of them? Or maybe it isn't so nice. Did you even want a slave in the first place? Well you're stuck with one now.

3. The Giver - You're selecting a slave for someone else, and they need to be perfect. Perhaps you'd better test them out first to make sure you're getting your money's worth.

4. The Trainer - You specialize in taming unruly slaves and making them over into perfect, obedient, well-trained pets.

5. The Rebel - You hate the idea of slavery, but the system isn't going to go away any time soon, so the next best thing is to buy up any slave you can get your hands on and free them, right?

6. The Companion - You want someone to be with you always, someone you can talk to and depend on, someone who will never leave your side. It's a good thing that money can buy that these days.

7. The Undercover - You're not actually a Master. You're at the auction for an entirely different reason. Maybe it's special policework, maybe you're trying to hunt down a certain someone. Either way, your cover is blown unless you act the part.

( can be auction or afterward, no preference on how or where we start off. open to ancient Rome setting, or some ambiguous AU, possibly modern-dystopian, where there is a social system for this. Ben is more likely to be a master who is socially low key in general, and more likely to either be gifted a slave by a professional colleague, or is a rebel sparked to pluck one out of the market to get them out of a bad situation, especially if they seem to exhibit any supernatural abilities or natures that could put them at risk, possibly if yours is experiencing negative paranormal effects that Ben can (and maybe is tasked to) take care of. alternatively, yours could be owned by another master that Ben meets and connects with, feeling drawn to them but conflicted given the proverbial leash rests in someone else's hands. Ben also practices magic in varying degrees depending on settings of plots, and having a person functioning as a familiar-like companion is welcome, whether they're discovering Ben's banishing and purification craft, or is versed in magic practice.

i am, however, open to Ben being a specialist slave who is utilized for house blessing and energy purification, if you're vibing with this character idea but can't see yours as being the slave. i'm open to discuss the power balances and come up with fitting ideas!

[It was another practitioner of magic who owed Ben a favor who'd brought him Bunny in a small wire cage. The creature looked woefully frightened, while Ben's colleague had explained that this wasn't an ordinary rabbit, but a captive changeling taking the form of one, who could easily be bound to the promise of serving as a familiar, in exchange for being let out of the cage.

The friend in question has since left, and the cage is now on Ben's desk, the panicked Bunny within tucked back into a corner, its eyes not leaving the exorcist even for a moment.]

Phaedra Lamb - Vampire OC - OTA

[Phaedra as a Master has either received your character as a gift, or seen something interesting in your character's skillset--psychic powers, in particular, are a draw for her. While she isn't quite a Rebel, she may be looking for a slave more as a status symbol among vampires than someone to exploit personally directly; she'd be likely to treat them more like a companion than like shit.

No smut. Any gender for potential shipping, but that'd need to develop IC, especially given the meme we're on.]

Lucas shifts on his knees as if that would somehow make the hardwood he's been forced to kneel on more comfortable. The motion makes him wince, jostling his arms again, which in turn pulls on his neck. The slavers who caught him made sure he had no use of his hands, binding them behind his back, connected up to a leather collar around his throat by a light chain. The final straw as far as the runaway Medium is concerned is the bit-like gag jammed between his teeth, so all he can do is glance around the most empty room they led him in and shiver, wondering who would end up as his 'master'. The thin white tank top and boxers they had clothed him in did little to prevent him from shivering again, this time from the chill of the room itself.

Finally the door creaks open. They're back and either he's been sold off or they're going to whisk him off to another one of these auctions and hope they get a return on their investment. His pale eyes snap in that direction, a heady mix of fear and anger, waiting for the truth to be revealed.

[Matthew is a new Slave; a werewolf who's been running solo out in the wilds, he's finally been captured and is now a slave. A werewolf can make for an intriguing mix between a pet and a guard, for someone who thinks they have a way to deal with the teeth and claws.

In the aftermath of his death, she reminded them too much of their loss, and so they've sold her. An organized woman who's used to retaining some dignity, going back to auction is a definite shock for her.

For a moment the sharply dressed man's stern gaze falls on her, ruthless and appraising, dark and not unlike a shark's. Liam stands shorter than average but with a confidence that makes him seem taller. If Meredith is looking for any sort of comfort it's not likely she'll find it in this man.

His gaze flicks back to her paperwork, reading over it again as if that might be more interesting.

"You must allow me to thank you," the lady of the household insists. Very recently widowed, due to the dire circumstances, that brought Father Gascoigne to her estate, it's hard to debate her newfound authority. Especially with how exuberantly she's exercising it.

"Evora," she says decisively, moving behind her late husband's desk. The pale young woman, who has been standing guard, it seems, moves forward at being addressed. But before she can ask what her ladyship might want of her, the widow is pulling out an official looking document, and writing down what appears to be the date, Father Gascoigne's name, and her signature.

"She's been my husband's... bodyguard for several years now. But with him gone, I find I'll have little use for her skills. I'm sure a hunter could find a very good use for her."

The document is signed, and the lady roles it up, ties it neatly with red ribbon, and holds it out to the hunter. The women being sold off, looks between them her snowy brows pulling together in hard to read puzzlement.
