The AU!Pet Person Meme (Shipping & Smut)
| >> premise | |
| Hello, and welcome to The Care and Keeping of Your Pet! As you surely know, a pet is a big responsibility, and we're so glad you've decided to be a conscientious master. A safe pet is a happy pet, and this handbook is certain to keep your precious lifelong friend as content as can be. The history of the animal person is a long and difficult one, with their origins not being known even to this day. However, scientists believe that despite our common appearance - most animal people have humanoid forms except for the ears, tails, and sometimes teeth - we share no common ancestry, even if the ascent of this species corresponds with that of the homo sapiens. We gained dominance over each breed thousands of years ago, beginning with the dog type, who have long been considered "man's best friend." Most breeds these days are docile and perfect for owners of any speed. Of course, it is our duty as the superior species to take care of these animal creatures, and this is inherent in their genetic makeup. Everyone knows that an animal person, when matched with their correct human master, is loyal for life - a true "soulmate," if you will. Far be it for us to turn this away! Ever since the Great Domestication, these intelligent and loving animals have served us as friends, workmates, guardians, servants, and sexual companions and will for years to come. Despite recent hubbub from so-called "Pet People's Rights Activists," this way of life is wholesome and good. Scientific research shows that the natural desire of the pet person is to be owned and cared for by a human. So, it's your first pet. What do you need to know?
With that said, thank you and welcome to your first day as a pet's master! |
| >> how to play | |
| Needless to say, The Care and Keeping of Your Pet is a bit biased and full of propaganda, but it gives a good idea of the world your character is now AU's into. They are either a pet person or a human master, and what that means for them varies. So are they a devoted pet or a rebellious animal person looking to buck the system? A generous master or a cruel sexual sadist? Just a normal pet owner? Most likely they're something in between, but when you're raised in this world, it's difficult to see anything different on the horizon. Rules

As previously stated, pet people come in as many breeds as you can possibly think of. By far and away the most popular are the dog and cat types, but exotic birds and lizards have been gaining popularity among trendsetters from L.A. to Tokyo!

Having given up on the womanizing for Tony's mom, he shifted his wandering eye to other pet people as well, and Tony hadn't been short of playmates. But they came and went, he never felt bonded to any of them, and neither did Howard. Apparently the bond with Bernard was never enough to make any effort with him though and the grumpy bird clearly pined and pined until he stopped eating and died.
Tony had thought about getting a pet for himself a few times, but he knew how much he took after his dad, so he never inflicted that kind of pain on any animal person or human. Damn Pepper, and damn her bringing him a gift in a big red bow.

Peter had played with it a bit, but he had been gently chastized. It was enough for him to stop and try and be a good boy. But nobody had told him about the box!
The second it was opened, it was as if light had filled it along a wave of fresh air. Peter hopped straight out of the carbox prison, standing on all fours as he glanced around.
This didn't look like home. This was bigger than the little apartment where he was raised. But the nice lady was there. And also a man.
Peter approached him right away, neck craned as he tried to sniff his hand.

"A cat? Am I going to have litter boxes and shit everywhere now?" He asked as the feline approached. He didn't draw his hand away when he leaned in to sniff it, though he didn't move it closer either.
"I didn't think you'd want to walk a dog in the city. I can't see you going to a dog park."
He didn't know why he had to have an animal at all. Except... He'd always wanted one, hadn't he?

Some kind of dragonji/foxxian AU?
Every evening, the dragon known as Lan Wangji collects his pile of offerings from the temple to bring back to his jingshi house in the forest. Whatever he has, he shared with his mate, often his favorites of chickens and liquor the people offered at the temple, while he preferred to snack on fruits and loquats.
Searching for his fox within his house, "Wei Ying? I brought offerings from the temple. For you." As presents his offerings as a daily gift to him. "The humans look upon us very favorably."
no subject
"Welcome back, Lan Zhan! What did you bring me today?" His tail swishes behind him excitedly at the daily offerings as he comes to help relieve the man's arms of his treasures.
no subject
He only smiles, his golden eyes seem to shine whenever he sees him. He offers his gifts, wanting his fox to be pleased as he enjoys courting him with his treasures and gifts.
"Lots of goodies. Flowers, fruits, and chickens just for you." He laid the gifts on the table for his mate to inspect and pick. From the cooked chickens, the bright red apples, bunches of bright berries, and juicy loquats. "We can start eating, the humans want us to have a feast. They pray for good weather for their crops and good luck in a raise of wealth."

The class had went smooth, Tony seemed was always eager to show off and wasn't all that bothered to havea crowd watching him.
"You were great today, bud," Peter told him as he gave him a good scratch under his chin, holding the carrying pouch carefully over his chest. Liz was practically resting her cheek on his shoulder, admiring Tony too.
Peter's heart was beating so hard he wondered if his little furry friend could tell.

He could feel it now, as he leaned one paw against. One moment it was calm, the next it had gotten harder and faster. He looked up at Peter, going from a soft pleased chatter at the praise to asking:
"Is Peter doing good?"
no subject
"Did you have fun? I think it was a lot of fun." With the pad of his finger Peter stroked his little head with care.
"Aaaaw," Liz cooed. "He worries about you!" Peter could feel her soft and warmth breath and that realization made him wonder if his heart would burst out of his chest. Just like that alien movie, but in a way more romantic way!
This was definitely one of the best days ever.

[The fight really hadn't gone his way, quickly showing him he'd bitten off more than he could chew. He'd only wanted to keep hold of the food he'd managed to find but the challenger in this situation had simply been too strong. He hadn't realized the dog he'd challenged had been a wolf with much sharper teeth and claws, quickly putting him in his place. Of course he'd never known when to leave well enough alone and he'd fought on anyway, clawing and biting at the much larger creature regardless.
And he'd paid for it. His food being taken was now the least of his troubles, taking a back seat to the blood loss he was experiencing. There were several bites littered on his arms and torso, along with a nasty slash across his stomach from the damned thing's claws. He'd tried to put pressure on some of the bites to stop the bleeding but it was truly no use, there were too many and he didn't have enough cloth to push down on all of them. He focused instead on the slash across his stomach, pressing what remained of his shirt down on it in some pathetic hope to stop the bleeding.
Lying in the gutter, Estinien let his head fall back with a low, pathetic mewl. This part of the city was thankfully less inhabited so there weren't many people walking by, but the few who did were too wrapped up in their own worlds to notice a homeless catboy dying in the gutter. As much as he tried to calm his heart, to slow the inevitable rush of blood leaving him, he knew it was hopeless. Everything was growing cold, and his vision was blurring on the edges, a sure sign that he'd soon pass out and...
...and that would be it, he imagines. Years of life fighting on the streets, all to be taken out because he misjudged a mutt. Pathetic. His eyes slide shut as he continues to try and stave off the blood loss-- though why he's bothering at all anymore is anyone's guess.]

A wounded catboy, who’d looked to be stray, judging from his lack of a collar and his tattered clothing. But that had mattered little to Aymeric at the time, because clearly the creature had been in need of help, and Aymeric wasn’t going to just stand idly by while he was bleeding out on the ground. Which is why he’d ended up dropping his umbrella and groceries and scooping the injured catboy up into his arms (he wasn’t taking no for an answer, fight or not) to rush to the nearest hospital specializing in animal people. Not something the poor catboy had appreciated, if Aymeric had to guess, but necessary nonetheless. The nurses and doctors had rushed him back to be treated for his injuries, and Aymeric had been left to wait in the lobby, his clothing covered in the catboy’s blood. A worrisome sight to be sure, but the doctor had assured Aymeric that his wounds weren’t fatal, and he’d been incredibly relieved to hear it. What on earth could’ve caused those kinds of injuries he doesn’t know, but at least the catboy will live.
By the time he’d been granted access to the small room the catboy had been placed in the staff had already bandaged him up and started him on pain medication and fluids, and Aymeric had listened carefully to the doctor’s instructions on how to care for him at home. A stray would likely be far too stressed out for their own good in a hospital setting, and it had been suggested that Aymeric take the catboy home and care for him until he’s well enough to return to the streets. Something that Aymeric could hardly refuse, given his love of felines and his desire to help those in need. He’s never cared for an animal person before, but it can’t be that difficult, right...?
He’ll find out, he supposes. After paying the hefty bill and being discharged with basic supplies and care instructions Aymeric had called a cab to pick both himself and the catboy up, not wanting to jostle him too much by carrying him the rest of the way, even if his home isn’t far from the hospital. He watches over the catboy all the while, and when they finally arrive at his home he pays the driver before carrying the catboy inside and laying him on the couch with a nice, warm blanket. The pain medicine and antibiotics should be working by now, though the former might just make the catboy feel a bit out of it when he finally wakes up. Oh well, better than being in pain, right?
Now all that’s left is to clean him up a bit. Aymeric uses a warm, wet cloth to try and wipe the catboy’s face clean, his own four-legged cat Hraesvelgr watching and mewing curiously all the while. Aymeric can’t help but smile at that, and he wonders if maybe cats and catboys feel a sort of connection with each other...he supposes he won’t know until the catboy wakes, though he might be a little too distracted by all the bandages wrapped around him to pay much attention to his fellow feline. Aymeric had taken the liberty of removing his shirt to keep the bandages clean and dry, and also so he can keep an eye on them just in case the catboy starts bleeding again and needs a change.
Until then though Aymeric will work on wiping away what blood he can from the catboy’s face and claws, wanting to make him feel more comfortable when he finally does come around. He’s got a bottle of water and some other supplies scattered across his coffee table as well, wanting to prepared for anything.]

Estinien stays mostly out of it during his trip to the hospital, only stirring occasionally when the pain brings him around. Thankfully the painkillers make that a less common occurrence and he ends up unconscious for most of the poking and prodding, a blessing for both him and the staff of the hospital. If he'd been awake to have the IV applied he would have very likely clawed them up for it, so it's best he hadn't been aware for any of it.
He stays out of it until much later, likely late into the evening, and when he stirs he's incredibly groggy. The painkillers are doing a number on his senses, making him feel heavy and tired but happily pain-free. Estinien's never had medicine before so it's a very new feeling, and his body has no tolerance built up to dull the effect. His ears twitch barely as he slits his eyes open, trying to regain his bearings.
And what he sees is wholly unfamiliar to him. A ceiling, which is odd enough for him to see, but a brief glance down indicates he's on a couch. With a blanket around him, it seems, and he sits up sharply when his instincts finally kick in. A mistake as he lets out a low, pained mewl, clutching at his stomach where-- ah? Bandages? He frowns, curiously pawing over the clean bandages there, wondering just what happened after he passed out. The blanket pools in his lap as he tries to make sense of this all, tail swishing irritably behind him, trying to look around the room--
--human? Estinien narrows his eyes at the human resting in a chair near the couch, letting out a low, warning growl as his ears flatten against his head. Tail puffing up, he presses himself back against the back of the couch, hands pressed into the couch as he extends his claws in a threatening display.]
What's going on here? Where am I? Who are you?
[His words sound a little slurred due to the medicine making him drowsy, but hopefully the man realizes he's about ready to claw his face off, injuries or no.]
