Still, things can change. You could realize that they are in the same boat as you or, that when compared to others around you, they are the lesser of evils. Perhaps you even open up to the idea of a friendship; at the very least, an alliance may be in order to become a power couple in a perilous world. From that innocent decision or sense of self-preservation, a new feelings sparks. Something like affection. Something, you realize in the wake of speeding heartbeats, like love. Will you acknowledge this? Can the two of you have a happily ever after - happier than if you'd met in another fashion - or will you hold firm in your distaste? how to play. - Everybody loves "couples forged by less-than-ideal circumstances" tropes! - Comment with your character, prefs, all that good stuff. - Reply to others. - IDEC where you set your threads, it's wide open. Fantasy world with hairy hobbits, old-timey lands, future AUs, do a space marriage for all I care. I'm sure they're still getting married in Star Wars or whatever.

so the bride and groom, or the two grooms, are going into getting married with a "we're going to try and be friends" start, and we can let that blossom into more, but I don't want to start with the "we hate each other" because this is Steve Rogers and if he feels that way we're gonna have to wait a century before anything romantic happens. ]

Taking place as part of the first Avengers movie with Loki attacking Earth, there was also some dealings with the First Order in the shadows...and once Loki and First Order were taken down, there had to be a fragile truce set in place between Earth's mightiest heroes and that of a New Republic. So in order to help maintain the truce/foster a good relationship, Steve and Rey get hitched?

He'd been given into marriage to Nie Huaisang, of all people. A test, perhaps, to see if he can actually behave. It's more humane than being locked away all the time, he supposes.

And there's something about the younger Nie that has Xue Yang a bit curious. Enough that he doesn't argue, only rolls his eyes with a laugh and goes through the motions. He hears things, day by day. Things some people might not want to be shared. But he holds his tongue.

All these righteous cultivators in the great sects! They make him laugh! When they don't make him sick.

They've taken away all his weapons except for during morning practice, and slowly he's been learning. They actually bother to teach him, which is what draws him more. Perhaps Nie Mingjue appreciates his attention, if Huaisang refuses to learn. At least one of them will be able to fight.

But now, after the day's events are over, he's flopped in their room, absently twirling his hair and looking for something to occupy his attention. He leans forward with Huaisang comes back, a bright grin appearing.

"A-Sang! You're back!" As if he has been stuck inside all day himself.
